Jobam Martins - Jazz guitar solo (Ars guitars test 2,Clean)

I am amazed by your playing! I'd like to ask you for your guitar - especially about pickups and wood. I'm trying to make my basswood Ibanez perfect, and I'm very interested in D-sonic/Hot Rails - what's your overall opinion on those? How you like riffing/soloin/full chords in clean/distro settings?

I'm using Ars guitars.It's a custom model.The woods are "Marupá" (body) and "Jacarandá da bahia"(neck).Togheter they create a great tone.Marupá has a great bass/middle tone with hot treblee response.

Drop sonic has a clean distortion and a very beautiful clean tone.You have to use dynamics to create more powerfull riffs.This is why I love it so much.

I love hot rails too.Great clean tone.Jazz / blues style.Hot distortion.

@pieroog In my guitar I've decided to use push-pull knobs.So I can use both single coil and humbucker.

Both are great.It depends on the situation.Playing Blues both are great.Drop sonic screams a lot and at the same time gives You that fat tone.Hot rails I like to use all the time playing clean sound.Jazz,bossa nova,brazilian music.You can play any style.

Now ,when I'm using distortion I like to use Drop sonic.Because of the sound.I like it because it's fat /clean and agressive at the same time.

@pieroog About chords.Drop sonic gives You that "jazz fusion" style sometimes(allan holdsworth,frank gambale) specially if You're playing with Your fingers.It's great!

Hot rails,like I've said it's more a jazz style.

But I've never tested them using basswood.I don't know how it's gonna work on Your guitar.But All I can say is : They are great pickups combined!

It's all about adaptation.
