I have the full video of Julia's performance, I'm not sure the exact date it was taken, but the camera action is amazing. It's almost able to be considered proshot. Message me for trade!
I remember this production. I was working on another show at the time, but I watched the production build. It was like watching memories spill out from the first Music Circus production back in 89.
Thanks for posting. I`m a fan of Julia since the Chess Concert Cast. She always surprise me!. Her rendition of Wicked's "Defiying Gravity" is definitive (IMHO) but I`ve never imagined that she could be such a wonderful Evita. Sublime! Broadway Revival with Miss Murney now!
In the first block, she was dancing in a group with a bunch of the ensemble members. Every 'THUMP THUMP' was where everybody stomped on the floor. Julia picked up her skirts and elegantly did so, which may or may not be considered a trick.
In the break where Eric talks, the rich people parade in, see Julia, she confronts them on the other side of the stage and touches one guy's arm, and he pulls out a handkerchief and wipes the spot. Before that, while Julia sings, the dancers do some cool moves involving lifts and spins. After the rich people leave, the dancers and Julia do an angry, mocking dance. On "Nueve de Julio" three dancers lift Julia above their heads, and after "stand ba-ack" on the 'click' Julia does a huge high kick.
That might have been because the day before, Thursday, had two shows, and Saturday also had two. I noticed that towards the end she started saving her voice a little more; where normally she ornamented or yelled very high, she changed.
Seriously! Can they just all the parts on Broadway to Julia? I swear the woman can pull off anything! XD

This appears to be a bootlegged recording from Music Circus. I di not realise this untill I saw a comment on another video.
I do not support this.

The first Sacramento Music Circus production was NOT in 89. It was in '51.

The first production of Evita was in 1989. Directed by Leland Ball and starring John Herrera.
I was not speaking of the first production of "ShowBoat" in 1951, but you are correct. That was the year the theatre began.

Wow...I wholeheartedly agree! She wasn't her best in Evita. She wasn't right for the role, sounded bad!

But she fucking worked it, are you kidding me?! She was incredible! I saw this live and she was stunning.

And during the second block of instrumental, it was the same exact thing :)

The stage actually lifts UP in several parts, but as the actors were dancing there, there weren't any tricks :)

She comes back down on "let's put on a show" and then kicks her right leg on the beat after "back."

I saw her the next day and her voice was shot. I was very dissapointed. She didn't sound half as good as she does in this clip on the 16th.

Her voice wasn't very good. It was cracking and it sounded very, very bad.
