I'm wondering about the Opera too, as I watch many of the Met Opera productions. There is an Opera called "Die Meistersinger" with a character named Eva in it, but it's a lot lighter than what's going on here. No, I think this scene was written just for the video game as a foreshadowing to the horrors ahead.
