This recording put such a pleasant spin in the old standard. Beautiful. I have searched for this for a while now.....well years. I had everything else by the Skyliners on 45s. Thanks!
WOW that's a great Memory......I forgot all about them dancing...I remember coming home from school to turn on American bandstand to do my homework...
HALLELUYA!!! This is the one I was looking for..! I was about 13 and sure liked it then. Now I find a guy with a ukeleli and loving that too. So many renditions, plus me singing as I learn this old gem
@wjmatos733 That couldn't have been said any better Willie. I'm 26 and I can't stand either one of those singers or pretty much anyone else out today.
Let's face it everybody every version of Pennies From Heaven is great because it's a great song. I'd say this version, Louis Prima, Frank Rosolino, and Frank Sinatra are the best versions IMO. All we need to do is get rid of overplayed crap like Lady Gaga, Katy Perry, Eminem, Ke$ha and Homo Bieber and play songs you never hear anymore. Like this one for instance.
Isn't it amazing that even after more than forty years I can still remember every word and inflection of this song? The Skyliners were one of the best groups to ever come out of the fifties. Thanks for the memories.
Memories of being very small with my brothers in my dads 1960 Chevy Impala going to Santa Monica beach in Los Angeles as a kid. My Dad loved that Impala

Can you(tube) help me? For starters, I need high quality sounding (like this one!) Youtubes of the Drifters' charted version of "Sweets For My Sweet" and "I Count The Tears." The Four Seasons' "Let's Hang On! " And Bobby Vinton's "Mr. Lonely." Thank you.

Young dance to this on American Bandstand back when you don't know what

Let's compare this classic with "Disturbia" and "Single Ladies"...like comparing apples with green onions!

@lordbemylight Just to point out, there are a lot of songs way better than Disturbia and Singe Ladies these days... But I do get your point.
budspott 1 year ago
@lordbemylight great point; I don't get why people don't see how superior American popular music from this era was to the music of 1965 on
