Jim Henson had a knack how to get great people into his show.
My first childhood memory is Harry Belafonte performing in the Muppet Show. I kid you not. Hazy shades of mum and dad and hot chocolate after building a snowman when the rest of Miami River(that's Dayton, Ohio) was in the grip of a blizzard.
My first ever moment of clarity and self-conciousness was the Muppet Show.
"I'd wash my hair with stinky glue, I'd fry my legs and eat them too, I'd put a spider in my SHOE!! ...For YOU!!"....... I am with Mr Simon on this one, Gonzo is and has ALWAYS been my favourite muppet !!
Of course what is the point of putting a spider in your shoe if your are going to fry and eat your legs? A bit confusing isn't it? Then again we're talking about Gonzo;)
haha that's great, I always imagined Paul Simon to be this shy, emotional kind of guy, who is always busy writing poetry (because that's what it is, only reading his lyrics is great), but this is soooooo funny, man, I love simon.
The humour in this situation is that Caitlin is not aware that the point of Paul going along with Gonzo's most obvious lack of musical knowledge was for the purpose of a joke!
Much laughter has ensured because of it, but silly Caitlin, you were not amongst the laughing!
gonzo's song is legend "for u id wash my hair with stinky glue id fry my legs and eat them too id put a spider in my shoe for u XD

Gonzo: Well, that's enough about me. Which one of my songs do you wanna hear?
Paul: one of your songs?
Gonzo: You don't think I'm musically educated?
Paul: No, I think you're musically educated, it's just that-
Gonzo: Good. Hand me that clarinet *points*.

I can't get enough of this. One of the greatest singers of all time and humor that exists on so many levels.

Great bit right there. Gonzo is my fav, too! Paul Simon is great too.
The Muppet Show was a little before my time, but great for any generation.

Paul is so brutal here...
Frankly, it would have been kinder to have just told Gonzo "Your song is terrible".

What's the song Simon starts playing at the start?

That's not a clarinet; that's a nylon-string guitar!

That's sort of the joke when Gonzo claims to be "musically educated".

Paul Simon should have been an actor too..
He is so relaxed..
Lowenti 3 years ago 4
He is. He acted in Woody Allen's "Annie Hall" and in "One Trick Pony", written by him and directed by Robert M. Young, among many other works.

Well I will have to rewatch that movie just to find his part XD

I wouldn't admit that Gonzo sings well. He hardly has a singing voice in my opinion.
