It takes a week to get an "Other than Honorable" Discharge there. No handcuffs, no locked doors.
Your company commander will be notified and CAN say they want you back but it rarely happens. By law the people there have to let you know if your company commander wants you back, and allow you to leave to return on your own. (Ya right)

However, if a man joins the military, and then runs away when he's called upon to perform his duty, then he is a coward. They promsed to give us tax rebates, they promised to take care of our familys, they promised to equip us with what we needed, they promised that those who abused their power would be punished, they told us that we were right. As far as my rank? I retired with 30 years. Very few can say that, I don't give my name online.
You assume you know about the US milatary but you really have no idea. BTW many American units have reportors inserted into teems expected to see battle. We have a free press and trust me, they say what ever they want.

However, their experience on the ground brings them to conclusion that they must not kill civilians or participate in an illegal war in Iraq that was condemned by the U.N. and runs counter to international law.

I went to Afganistan, then Iraq then back to Afganistan. I did as I was told, I kept my mouth shut and broke my own morals in the process. If I sell a car to you, and we make a contract stating that its fully working and has an MOT, and then low and behold all of my promises are a comllete fabrication then are you are bound by your end of the bargain? They void their own contract with their action so why shouldnt a MAN look to himself when he has found his superiors to be liars and oathbreakers.

@hsybcmpny all my uppers are hypocrites, they collect a pay check for sitting in ac and playing solitaire on their computers. i have not once done the job that i was promised (in my contract) and went to five months of training for. in all probabilities will probably be told to be a gunner in an infantry unit when we go downrange (I'm a welder and a machinist). in all honesty im begining to weigh pros and cons of simply going home to help my family seeing as im not much use here.

@DaneLimmish dude my brother was in the marines and got blown in half by a 120mm mortar, i didnt join to fight i joined to do an important NON-combat job (hence my MOS 91W), i know what killing does to people and i refuse to be exposed to that (apparently thats a selfish thing to do now). i was straight up with my recruiter and he lied to my and my parents face knowing full well that there son had already died in combat, call me what i am but I'm about done with this army and its bullshit.

Yes, I avoided military service in that other American catastrophe--Vietnam, and believe me, I'm glad I did. Vietnam was a huge mistake that ruined millions of lives, and Iraq is exactly the same thing. Iraq was better off under Saddam as evil as he was. If we had just continued our containment policy, eventually the Iraqis themselves would have overthrown him and the Baathists. Now over 2 million Iraqis have had to flee their own country. Madness!!

Under the Uniform Code of Military Justice (UCMJ) a US soldier is not obligated to follow an immoral order. You are clearly misinformed.
Do you realize that after the first gulf war in 1992 America did continue their "containment policy"? Thousands of Shiites attempted to overthrow Saddam without promised US support and were slaughtered by helicopter gunships (which were not prohibited in the peace accords)

That's a good point. So tell me, since I don't know,if f a service man or woman changes their mind and asks to be released of his contract, would the military allow him to do that? Maybe having a financial penalty or similar? In a marriage there is always a legal way to end the contract. If there was no legal way out then I guess he didn't have much of a choice.
