Wow, I first heard this on WSOU 89.5 FM (Seton Hall University radio). There was a DJ that played dance/disco. He also played Rap music when the only other station in the Tri-State area that would touch it was NYC's WBLS. Thanks for the post and a shout-out to that DJ from WSOU.
@ranus42 not exactly....especiallly by TODAY'S standards....hahahaha....anyway there are other songs besides "LOVE HANGOVER" that start this way......Don't Leave me this way" for example....this SONGS has more impact after you've DANCED most of the Nite and this is DROPPED around 7am.....and you continue til Noon....ALL of the comments here reflect that experience....Including your's..Thk U..Peace & Love Alwayz
@vbierry that would be Thelma Houston.....I know because "I'm here again"is my favorite by her.....it would in my humble opinion be the ADULT don't leave me this way....A classic in the same vein as this killer by Taana....tks for the comment...Peace & Love Alwayz...Maurice
@arijr71 This was a CUT played in the AM hours i.e. post 6am....Besides it revels how Tana would handle a BALLAD....at that time the SAYING was that Female Singers that did DISCO couldn't really sing...and if they had a ballad they wouldn't be able to PULL it off....Donna Summer did a similar thing....maybe he was following that....whatever the reason...when this song opens up.....it represents EVERYTHING the Paradise Garage was about....From the Drop of the NEEDLE !!!!
Turn it up!!! is what i always said to Larry Levan, when i was up in the control booth at the Paradise Garage... The sounds he created in that booth live on in all of us... RIP my brother from another mother...
@sjr10011 I was alwayz TOO busy DANCIN' ......can't not express enuf GRATITUDE....for what 84 King st. has done for me...tks for the comment.....Peace & Love Alwayz....

@therhythmalchemist1 Diana Ross' "I'm here again" is also a good intro and sounds almost exactly like don't leave me this way too ;)
