Yeol Eum Son is certainly a great pianist but what is more she is a great artist. She plays these Chopin etudes with nobility and pathos. She is young in age but it seems she has been playing this music for many lifetimes. I only wish to hear her play live. May she live long so that she brings us many for years of beautiful music!
I'm a huge fan,but I don't think she throws herself into this enough right from the beginning. For example, where does that magnificent left hand gliss come from, about a third of the way through?
It's really the etude of utter abandon! But that's OK. She's only 23. She has the right approach, we just need more, more, MORE.
oh! excellent! she keeps it moving ! with so much rubato temptation in this piece thats very hard to do . i dont knkow maybe she just doesnt understand the piece and is playin notes as they come but that wud be a feat in itself shed need like 10 brains to be able to portray this piece witout basking in emotion so bravo! even tho ull never see this comment lol

I just love the left hand scale from 2:00 to 2:14. There is so much sadness in this piece.

I do think this piece requires a sort of brooding passion. Maybe more than she could work up at age 23. But she's a marvelous artist.

İ agree you, Valentina have very good performance for Chopin's pieces.But her Carmen fantasie playing is awful.
