@firydeth Look at markings and you won't see "Makarov". IJ-70 is not "Makarov". It's not just the barrel and the 12 r. double stack mag (less reliable) that are different. The overall quality of parts and the finish is inferior to the old military production in .9x18 and 8 round mags with slim grip. It's not your fault that they sold you a cheaply produced shadow of the real thing. If you can't find a real Mak, a Bulgarian or East German copy will do, but get rid of this IJ joke.
I used a CZ82 for two years in the Czech service, and I think I can explain the odd safety on it. The double action is meant only to make use of poor quality Russian ammunition. Sometimes the primer doesn't work the first time, but goes off when hit again. It is designed to be cocked carried.
@leftthenormalworld I agree somewhat. But I also think the double action mode was to appease those who wanted that style of carry. But in the end? If you don't like the safety, put the hammer down and keep the safety off! Won't even notice it's there!
I got me a cz its a hunk of steel that has only had one FTE which was my fault cus it was my first time shooting it and let my wrist limp. Other than that it fired perfectly and if it wasn't for my poor vision and no glasses at the time im sure my groupings would have been better. OTOH those maks certainly look amazing

@K9ProSportUSAdotcom I feel it's more a matter of training and what you're used to, not what is superior or not. Because I'm left handed, a lot of safeties don't work well for me, so I have to train around that.

cocked and locked doesn't interest me, but i'm not going to denegrate anyone for doing it or not doing it.
@firydeth Just as easy to shoot yourself with a gun not cocked and locked...especially a CZ82 with that light buttery smooth trigger! But, if the safety came off it's either a defect with the gun, or a failure of some type on his part. A lot of people claim the safety was on when the truth may have been...they totally forgot to put it back on. I will send any gun to the gunsmith if the safety isn't tight and secure. @K9ProSportUSAdotcom Glocks have a firing pin safety and CANNOT fire without the trigger being pulled. It isn't an accidental discharge due to some fault of the gun, it's a negligent discharge due to an incompetent user.

I'd rather spend my 500 on a Taurus PT1911 than a Glock...I own one, no smithing, no problems with any hollow point ammo. That's me.
Would have been better using the Bulgarian Mak, it's very different feeling compared to the commercial(IJ-70)? I believe. My advice to anyone would be get either while you can, I have both.
i just got my cz 82 today, traded a guitar for it and 50 rnds of ammo. the trigger is amazing, just as smooth as my $800 kahr. im amazed by the trigger
I don't know why you would NEED a safety on a DA gun but I prefer a consistent single action pull which is why I'm contemplating trading in my Makarov for a CZ82. That and other nicer features for more consistency training between that and my Hi-Power. Thanks for the video.
@TATARSTAN59500 cz is way better. Just because they use it to train with doesnt mean its a "better" gun. The guns most countries use in training are out dated.
@TATARSTAN59500 the problem you're both having is you have 2 different standards of what you think is "best". If being super simple and rugged is the standard, then makarov and ak47 are the best. if great design, workmanship, accuracy, trigger action, mag capacity, ergonomics, etc. are the standard, then cz82 and vz58 are the best. it depends on what you're interested in and/or need.
@TATARSTAN59500 I never mentioned the vz58 idiot. the ak is definetly better, and they are two totally different designs. The cz is a better all around gun. Better sights, mag capacity, polygonal rifling, ergonomics, trigger. It all depends on what you like and i bet the cz could take as much punishment as the mak.
@firydeth Welp, if I had a choice I'd look more into the Makarov, but the CZ was the only affordable handgun there. After doing a ton of research and watching countless videos I decided I was going to purchace the CZ. My first handgun though, and i'm only 5'4'' and have somewhat small hands haha, think that gun will fit me comfortably shooting?
@WhatUGawkinAt aside from the finish, the cz82 is an incredibly well made gun and worth twice what it's going for right now. i think the grip is very comfortable and points naturally, and it's not very big. you'll just have to pick it up and hold it at the store. it does kick a little bit, so that might be a bit off-putting for your first gun, but it's not that bad.
@148scalemodeling yeah probably. they're super well built, but they have a horrible enamel (paint) finish. I was lucky, mine looks like it was never issued. so don't expect yours to look that good. $200-250 seems about right for a cz82. based on the quality of these things, that's an outright steal.
@firydeth What holster could i get that would fit th egun and had space for a double stack mag i cant find any original 82 ones i want a military style flap holster
The Polygonal bore of the cz is often overlooked. I own both guns and many other variations. you cannot class a Makarov or P-64 or any other variant with a CZ. the CZ bore is Polygonal all makarovs are land and groove bore. the Makarov has become the acronym for the 9x18 euro. the CZ is a cold forged Polygonal bore. this is where glock and all other lowercase smiths figured their bores. CZ (Ceska Zbrojoska) have been pounding this out for 500 years. America welcome to Middle Earth. :)
Want a perfect Makarov pistol? Get yourself a E. German model. Best of them all. I shot them all... If you don't care about a quality of one, get the least expensive one you can find. Neither one will malfunction. Ever. And I'm talking about Makarov pistols, not guns just chambered for Makarov round...
I'm 1.68 m (5.51 ft) and weight 63 kg (arround 140 lb) and have no problem with the Makarov's mag release, it's easy to use with some practice, even for girls. And I don't think it's better to use that key chain ring, i think it makes the task more complex.
@joiskoo Well i'm not sure how your size would have any bearing on the mag release. The mag release works, that's not at issue. But it is one of the worst I've ever used for 2 reasons. 1, it scrapes (and sometimes cuts) my thumb every time i used it and 2, the mags do not free fall, they have to be pulled out of the gun.
Could you explain how you feel the key ring makes the task more complex? It prevents your thumb from getting scraped but i don't see how it adds any complexity.
@firydeth Well the size and weight is for making a point, that I'm not a super strong man, and have no problem dealing with the mag release.
I think the ring makes the task more complex because u have to do three things, first: u have to grab a ring that don't stand in one single position every time, second: u have to introduce ur finger in the ring and get it out (it would be more easy to simply pull the ring without having to put your finger inside but u have the risk of lose the grip)
@firydeth And third now u can grab the mag and pull it out, not to mention that if the mag goes out to much when u pull the ring u mabe won't be able to get out your finger so easily.
@joiskoo Getting your finger stuck in the ring with the mag hanging halfway out is not a realistic scenario. The mag release prevents the mag from coming out very far, even if you pull on the ring hard. In the first second of the video, you can see how far back the ring is free to move, so even if the mag were sticking way out, you would be able to free any chubby fingers.
I really want to get one of these cz82s...i really enjoy steel framed combat pistols..
this is one of 3 fine pistols I have deemed as battle perfect, the cz-75 , the browning high power, and this.all of them fit really well in the hand and are mechanically sound.
@mrsandorable Well, if you are a grown man and mature, you wouldn't swear. I think both pistols are great, but I have a partiality to CZ's. I just love the mag capacity!
Nice vid. Thanks for taking the time to give us a side by side comparison. I'm a 9x18 fan who is looking to buy a CZ 82 (I currently have a PA-63) and I was hoping to find a video like this with a close up of the gun showing different angles and such. If I do get the CZ I plan to eventually refinish it in a matte black and give it some Marschal grips. Them Soviets made some good guns...
I just hit the "buy now" on a CZ-82, along with a hard case, two mags, leather belt holster, spare springs, and a box of ammo, all for $260. Everything I see online goes pretty much along the lines of this video. Nice comparison. I'd started out intending to get a makarov, but in the end, I'm glad I went with the CZ 82.
@Mistraker Hey I was just wondering where can you buy these guns? Where did you see it for 260.00? My dad bought a Makarov Bulgarian surplus years ago but I can't seem to find where to buy them new now.
Pretty good deal. I recieved a CZ-82 with two mags and holster from Southern ohio gun for 190, but I have a C&R license and I also the handgun did not need to be shipped as I live close by SOG. Great Gun.
My Bulgarian makarov has a great double action, crisp single action. I've just gotten used to the mag release, with a little practice you can be as quick as you would be with a button release.
The heavy slide on the Mak eats the recoil a lot better, I find it has quicker follow up shots. And well damn I just like it. Then again I guess Im biased.
@koolaidman007 How can you be as quick with a heel release as with a button? you already have your replacement mag in your hand when you drop the empty (think urban gang war scenario). unless you have seven fingers on your left hand, i don't see how it's possible.
Didn't read the other comments so disregard if its already been mentioned but, the CZ-82 can be carried hammer down for a double action first shot or hammer back, cocked and locked. I like cocked and locked so every shot is consistent.
@PoorMansCheese I don't have an experience with cdnn, but $150 for a CZ82 is a really good deal. the finish on the slide will probably be awful. i was lucky that mine was never issued.
I picked one up at a local gun show today. The CZ-82 is an incredible value for around $200 or so. I couldn't believe the controls, the smoothness of the action, and the overall build quality. I'd much rather have the CZ-82 over a Bersa, Taurus, or any of the other bargain automatics in .380 or .32 ACP.
@deussolinvictus Tell me about it. I was happy with my Makarov until the first time I picked up that CZ. Aside from the awful finish on the slide, this is the smoothest little gun around and the best bargain on a gun anywhere today.
@volihsab It depends: I've seen commercial Russian (Baikal, I think) and Chinese for around $250+, Bulgarian models run $300+, and no idea regarding DDR production Makarovs.
@deussolinvictus Yeah, I think I picked up my Baikal for $250. I got my CZ for ~$180. It was on sale. The East German Maks were the best of the lot and will definitely cost you more than $300.
@HKS240sx Golly gee, if ONLY someone had commented on this subject earlier.
If you rewatch the video, I stated it was unnecessary to have a 1911 style safety on a double action gun. I even explained exactly how it was to be used, so why do you feel it's necessary to explain it to me again?
Also, your comment implies that only an ignorant person would want a safety on a double action gun. Why do you say that?
If I did not have a vault full of guns already, I would buy a CZ-82 ... heck, I might get one anyway. I have a nephew in college who is hemming and hawing about getting a POS Highpoint for about the same price ($199). I told him that, on his budget, he would be better served with a slightly used CZ-82 w/ 2-12 round mags included for the same price of a High Point plus the cost of lunch. His generation is still hung up on the bulky appearance of Glocks and other "poly-guns." Too bad.
@firydeth, I was overly harsh on my evaluation of the High Point. I stand corrected. Without even owning one, I remembered only an incident when I was in law enforcement where "an undesirable individual" was gunned down in a shootout with a "like individual." The victim was found with his High Point in hand and it had jammed after only one round fired. In all fairness, that could happen with even a well tuned .45 1911 custom pistol. Likewise, I agree that the CZ-82 is great deal.
@Nanjing03 It's understandable, the first time I saw a Hi-Point, I laughed out loud at the ridiculousness of it. They're very susceptible to jam if you limpwrist them. So, unless you're holding it properly, it will probably end up like your special friend's.
@free2game yea but the cz75 has a decocker,so does my taurus pt101,both can be carried condition one and be decocked.he never said he didnt understand why the safety worked the way it did,he was just stating he didnt like the fact the cz82 didnt have a way to fully decock the pistol like he makarov.you could always do the old school two thumb method but you dont feel as safe as with a manual decock.
No, he said he didn't understand it. Like I said, the whole point is to carry the gun hammer down, safety on, and the double action is just there as a quick second striking capability. Also the regular CZ75 never had a decocker. Later commercial versions came out with one.

Also the regular CZ75 never had a decocker. Later commercial versions came out with one. But all of the pre-b models had just a manual safety.
@free2game Since this seems so difficult for you, I'll explain it. The double action trigger negates the reason for having a 1911 style "cocked and locked" safety. So it makes no sense to have this type of safety as opposed to some kind of decocker/safety. Does it make sense yet?
The whole point is so you can carry it like that, but you have that quick second action. You have that kind of safety because it allows you to safety carry a light trigger that most of the time will be single action and a light short trigger. Also almost no modern hammer fired gun is going to be designed single action anymore because of it's disadvantages compared to double action. People like that kind of safety but also like the advantages of the DA trigger.
@venturahwy76 Thanks. Maks are neat, I like them for their raw simplicity. But of all the Makarov caliber pistols that were made, the CZ is in a different class.
Even if you can have modern guns for your money, ČZ vzor 83 (civil version of vz. 82) is still produced and chambered for 7.65Br (.32 ACP), 9mm Br. (.380 ACP / 9mm Kurz / 9x17) and 9mm Makarov (9x18). I am getting a gun license right now and still not decided if my first (and only for some time) will be PM Makarov or ČZ 83. :)
Greetings from Czech republic (producent of ČZs and western part of former Czechoslovakia)
Having both and IJ-70 (Russian commercial, single stack) and a CZ-82, I have to absolutely agree with your comments concerning the trigger. It is quite impressive; in a completely different league than the IJ-70. In fact, I'm tempted to say the CZ-82 is in a different league all together. It is one refined pistol.
Walked into my local shop today to look at Makarov's and saw a CZ-82 for $209. I'd been thinking about getting one of the AIM guns for $219 plus shipping and FFL, so I was quite happy.
For what it's worth, the magazine release on the Makarov was designed to be difficult to operate accidentally. Evidently, they had some issues with soldiers popping out magazines unintentionally on the Tokarev, which did have a button release. They did seem to go a bit too far in the direction of making it hard to release, but it was done with a good purpose in mind.
When and where did you purchase the CZ-82 for less than 200 bucks? I want to buy one, but the cheapest I can find is about 275 online and that would still require FFL payment and shipping payment. When I find them in stores locally, they sometimes run close to 400 dollars. Maybe my area just kinda sucks.
@firydeth Oh, cool. Funny enough, I just checked aimsurplus and they have a new shipment of CZ-82s in at 219.95 each with free shipping :) What an amazing deal, I think I'm gonna take the plunge on this one while it lasts, hopefully I can one of our local dealers to fax his FFL before the offer is gone.
@metalfaust19 wow that does sound good. i never got around to mentioning it, but the CZ finish on the slide is really awful. I was lucky mine was never issued and the finish was perfect, but don't expect yours to be. it's not a bluing but a cheap enamel (paint) finish. that's just how it is....
@metalfaust19, yep I was on AIM just now looking at pistols and rifles and saw that they had the CZ-82 for $219.95 compared to $309.95 the local gun shop is charging. I have two options for getting this one though. Option A is buy from him at $309.95 and I can get the hand pick which I think is $10 and he would have to charge state tax or I can go through AIM for $219.95 + $10 for hand pick + $39.95 for transfer fee and I still come out under $300.
and personal opinion i think trigger pull varies from each individual gun and is more a matter of opinion than fact some like a bit harder pull some like hair triggers, if you want a hard trigger pull try a squeeze cocker theyre terrible
You don't know why the hammer block safety? Because you can carry it cocked and locked just like a 1911. If it were a hammer drop safety the action would more complex and not be as good. Who says your first shot must be double action?
@firydeth Are you 12? My comment clearly addresses the better action compared to the frame mounted hammer drop safety on the other pistol. I own many Eastern block pistols and find the CZ 82 mak easily the smoothest and best shooting.
@dancingrizz Yeah, I am 12. I didn't respond to the rest because it was so ridiculous. Just because guns you own with a slide safety dont have the smoothest action doesnt mean guns WITHOUT a slide safety automatically have smoother action. My P1 is smoother than my CZ and it has a slide mounted safety. You also say a slide safety makes the action more complex and therefore worse. The CZ action is far more complicated than the Mak and it's clearly way better. Youre reasoning via a flawed analogy.
I really like my new CZ-82! I went to the range today putting 500 rounds through the CZ-82 without a single issue using silver bear FMJ. 3rd time in 5 years ive fired a pistol, had 6 inch groups after the first few mags @75ft, that's a lot more accurate than i had expected and 2" smaller than with the XD45 from months ago.
Nice looking CZ-82. I've made countless phone calls looking for someone to refinish mine but nobody is interested.
I do agree the 82 is a step above the Makarov, the Makarov is a great pistol nonetheless. I couldn't choose between the two so I got both and I imagine most people with do the same if they get a chance to fire each one. It is definetely two purchases you won't regret.
Get fine Steel wool and 'sand' your slide, many times, then spray paint it and bake it for 10 minutes at 300F. If you wish to strip you can, but its a pain in the rear end and not altother necessary for most guns, If you do it will take 3-4 applications.
Mine looks great now.
You can also buy the square CZ83 Trigger guard from CZ for $40.

i just got my cz 82 today, traded a guitar for it and 50 rnds of ammo. the trigger is amazing, just as smooth as my $800 kahr. im amazed by the trigger
eric21881 3 months ago
I don't know why you would NEED a safety on a DA gun but I prefer a consistent single action pull which is why I'm contemplating trading in my Makarov for a CZ82. That and other nicer features for more consistency training between that and my Hi-Power. Thanks for the video.

TATARSTAN59500 3 months ago
@TATARSTAN59500 cz is way better. Just because they use it to train with doesnt mean its a "better" gun. The guns most countries use in training are out dated.

@148scalemodeling cz better ???? many use but is not better makarov is indestructible
lol so vz58 better than ak-47 haha
TATARSTAN59500 3 months ago

@WhatUGawkinAt oh cool. i like the mak, but the cz is in a different class. solid little gun.
firydeth 4 months ago
@firydeth Welp, if I had a choice I'd look more into the Makarov, but the CZ was the only affordable handgun there. After doing a ton of research and watching countless videos I decided I was going to purchace the CZ. My first handgun though, and i'm only 5'4'' and have somewhat small hands haha, think that gun will fit me comfortably shooting?
WhatUGawkinAt 4 months ago
@WhatUGawkinAt aside from the finish, the cz82 is an incredibly well made gun and worth twice what it's going for right now. i think the grip is very comfortable and points naturally, and it's not very big. you'll just have to pick it up and hold it at the store. it does kick a little bit, so that might be a bit off-putting for your first gun, but it's not that bad.
firydeth 4 months ago
@firydeth I just got some good black gloss spray paint and applied it after I had sanded down the old finish and it looks real nice.

@148scalemodeling yeah probably. they're super well built, but they have a horrible enamel (paint) finish. :)

I'm 1.68 m (5.51 ft) and weight 63 kg (arround 140 lb) and have no problem with the Makarov's mag release, it's easy to use with some practice, even for girls. And I don't think it's better to use that key chain ring, i think it makes the task more complex.
joiskoo 8 months ago
@joiskoo Well i'm not sure how your size would have any bearing on the mag release. The mag release works, that's not at issue. But it is one of the worst I've ever used for 2 reasons. 1, it scrapes (and sometimes cuts) my thumb every time i used it and 2, the mags do not free fall, they have to be pulled out of the gun.
Could you explain how you feel the key ring makes the task more complex? It prevents your thumb from getting scraped but i don't see how it adds any complexity.
firydeth 8 months ago
@firydeth Well the size and weight is for making a point, that I'm not a super strong man, and have no problem dealing with the mag release.
I think the ring makes the task more complex because u have to do three things, first: u have to grab a ring that don't stand in one single position every time, second: u have to introduce ur finger in the ring and get it out (it would be more easy to simply pull the ring without having to put your finger inside but u have the risk of lose the grip)
joiskoo 8 months ago
@firydeth And third now u can grab the mag and pull it out, not to mention that if the mag goes out to much when u pull the ring u mabe won't be able to get out your finger so easily.
joiskoo 8 months ago
@joiskoo Getting your finger stuck in the ring with the mag hanging halfway out is not a realistic scenario. The mag release prevents the mag from coming out very far, even if you pull on the ring hard. In the first second of the video, you can see how far back the ring is free to move, so even if the mag were sticking way out, you would be able to free any chubby fingers.

Nice vid. Thanks for taking the time to give us a side by side comparison. I'm a 9x18 fan who is looking to buy a CZ 82 (I currently have a PA-63) and I was hoping to find a video like this with a close up of the gun showing different angles and such. I just hit the "buy now" on a CZ-82, along with a hard case, two mags, leather belt holster, spare springs, and a box of ammo, all for $260. Pretty good deal. I recieved a CZ-82 with two mags and holster from Southern ohio gun for 190, but I have a C&R license and I also the handgun did not need to be shipped as I live close by SOG. Great Gun.
Allante715 11 months ago
I love my Makarov over the CZ 82.
Then again I guess Im biased.
koolaidman007 1 year ago
@koolaidman007 How can you be as quick with a heel release as with a button? you already have your replacement mag in your hand when you drop the empty (think urban gang war scenario). unless you have seven fingers on your left hand, i don't see how it's possible.
d3ejmz 1 year ago 2
@d3ejmz The heel release on the Makarov sucks but it is still an excellent hand gun.
nbanolfkid 4 months ago
Didn't read the other comments so disregard if its already been mentioned but, the CZ-82 can be carried hammer down for a double action first shot or hammer back, cocked and locked. I like cocked and locked so every shot is consistent.

PoorMansCheese 1 year ago
@PoorMansCheese I don't have an experience with cdnn, but $150 for a CZ82 is a really good deal. the finish on the slide will probably be awful. i was lucky that mine was never issued.
firydeth 1 year ago
I picked one up at a local gun show today. The CZ-82 is an incredible value for around $200 or so. I couldn't believe the controls, the smoothness of the action, and the overall build quality. I'd much rather have the CZ-82 over a Bersa, Taurus, or any of the other bargain automatics in .380 or .32 ACP.
deussolinvictus 1 year ago
@deussolinvictus Tell me about it. I was happy with my Makarov until the first time I picked up that CZ. Aside from the awful finish on the slide, this is the smoothest little gun around and the best bargain on a gun anywhere today.

Why do you say that?
firydeth 1 year ago
If I did not have a vault full of guns already, I would buy a CZ-82 ... heck, I might get one anyway. I have a nephew in college who is hemming and hawing about getting a POS Highpoint for about the same price ($199). I told him that, on his budget, he would be better served with a slightly used CZ-82 w/ 2-12 round mags included for the same price of a High Point plus the cost of lunch. His generation is still hung up on the bulky appearance of Glocks and other "poly-guns." Too bad.
Nanjing03 1 year ago
@Nanjing03 I have a Hi-Point (check out my other videos, it's not a POS). however, for the price range of $200-250, nothing beats the CZ82.
firydeth 1 year ago
@firydeth, I was overly harsh on my evaluation of the High Point. I stand corrected. Without even owning one, I remembered only an incident when I was in law enforcement where "an undesirable individual" was gunned down in a shootout with a "like individual." The victim was found with his High Point in hand and it had jammed after only one round fired. In all fairness, that could happen with even a well tuned .45 1911 custom pistol. Likewise, I agree that the CZ-82 is great deal.
Nanjing03 1 year ago
@Nanjing03 It's understandable, the first time I saw a Hi-Point, I laughed out loud at the ridiculousness of it. They're very susceptible to jam if you limpwrist them. So, unless you're holding it properly, it will probably end up like your special friend's.

You don't know why the 82 would have a safety like that? It's so you can carry in condition one. Like the CZ75.
free2game 1 year ago
@free2game yea but the cz75 has a decocker,so does my taurus pt101,both can be carried condition one and be decocked.he never said he didnt understand why the safety worked the way it did,he was just stating he didnt like the fact the cz82 didnt have a way to fully decock the pistol like he makarov.you could always do the old school two thumb method but you dont feel as safe as with a manual decock.
O4jampO4 1 year ago
@O4jampO4

But all of the pre-b models had just a manual safety.
free2game 1 year ago
@free2game Since this seems so difficult for you, I'll explain it. The double action trigger negates the reason for having a 1911 style "cocked and locked" safety. So it makes no sense to have this type of safety as opposed to some kind of decocker/safety. Does it make sense yet?
firydeth 1 year ago
@firydeth i completely agree with you
O4jampO4 1 year ago
@firydeth

WeiKeXiang 1 year ago
For what it's worth, the magazine release on the Makarov was designed to be difficult to operate accidentally. Evidently, they had some issues with soldiers popping out magazines unintentionally on the Tokarev, which did have a button release. They did seem to go a bit too far in the direction of making it hard to release, but it was done with a good purpose in mind.

When I find them in stores locally, they sometimes run close to 400 dollars. Maybe my area just kinda sucks.

You don't know why the hammer block safety? Because you can carry it cocked and locked just like a 1911. If it were a hammer drop safety the action would more complex and not be as good. Who says your first shot must be double action?
dancingrizz 1 year ago
@dancingrizz It's like a 1911 safety?? NO WAY!!! If only I had mentioned that in the video... (oh wait, I did)
firydeth 1 year ago
@firydeth Are you 12? My comment clearly addresses the better action compared to the frame mounted hammer drop safety on the other pistol. I own many Eastern block pistols and find the CZ 82 mak easily the smoothest and best shooting.
dancingrizz 1 year ago
@dancingrizz Yeah, I am 12. I didn't respond to the rest because it was so ridiculous. Just because guns you own with a slide safety dont have the smoothest action doesnt mean guns WITHOUT a slide safety automatically have smoother action. My P1 is smoother than my CZ and it has a slide mounted safety. You also say a slide safety makes the action more complex and therefore worse. The CZ action is far more complicated than the Mak and it's clearly way better. Youre reasoning via a flawed analogy.

The boys at the BRNO factory have made some fantastic pistols & rifles over the years; great video...very handy little pistols, very nice!
Gun laws out here how-ever, are a little bit on the tight side, still its nice to see them in action, cheers.

Go to AutoZone, buy Engine Block Paint- Black
Can withstand high temps
Get fine Steel wool and 'sand' your slide, many times, then spray paint it and bake it for 10 minutes at 300F. If you wish to strip you can, but its a pain in the rear end and not altother necessary for most guns, If you do it will take 3-4 applications.
Mine looks great now.
You can also buy the square CZ83 Trigger guard from CZ for $40.
Looks killer.
