Identity is about more than just a person face, in police reports people are often identified by race height and weight, facial features get mixed up quickly in a line up, but not those things. not enough women cover their faces for this to be as big of a deal as they claim it to be, if thats the case ban ski and halloween masks too

I was born in Turkey and supposed to be muslim. So I know what burka means. Voluntarily or not burka, headscarves indicate obeying sharia law. This means polygamy, preteen marriage, beating by husband if he wishes (see QUran), usually begins in religious preschooling), no schooling if the family decides so, no talking to men, no bbirth control, no music (sounds from devil), no work if men are involved. Burka signifies slavery and is inhuman. Women saying otherwise are suppressed after 2-4 yo.

I don't know in France, but in Italy there's a law that say: "For security reasons ppl cannot go around with theyr face covered. If i go in a muslim country i can't drink alcohol n they don't care that i'm not muslim, so why i have to respect theyr laws n they don't give a fuck to our laws? Your first point, while true, is also invalid, just because their countries are doing the wrong thing does not justify another country to do the wrong thing. I agree with you that if there is a law that already exists- such as in italy, then they have to obey it. But in a country that no law against covering the face exists, banning the burqah specifically can definitely be defined taking away a part of their freedoms. I also agree with you in that i like neither religion.
