  • you make me happy

  • thank you so much, such an excellent tutorial, my beetle looks amazing now!

  • I'm glad you like it and find it useful!

  • lol how its possible to have a video in our desktop?

  • You wouldn't want it really, it would be sucking up system resources no matter what, even if you're not even looking at your desktop.

  • It's called windows dreamscene, aero theme has to be enabled I think. It's in Vista

  • Great tutorail but where do i cet dreamscene on your desktop from??

  • Uh, well, actually I rendered it.

You need: the Utah teapot as obj (or 3ds, I don't remember, google it), the Uffizi Light probe by Paul Debevec and the scene rendered as wmv.

You can't render wmv from Blender, but you can change the extension from avi to wmv... dreamscene buys it, if you can believe it!

  • Great tutor, thanks

  • Great to know!

  • how can i use dof in real time glsl?

  • No problem!

  • you cant do blur in the game enigine can you?

  • Sure you can!

I just don't know how, but it is do-able!

  • sweet lol, i just thought the only updates to the engine were shadows, higher details and physics and various other small tweaks

  • very nice

    and easy to understand

  • I did the same when i was experimenting with Dof.

From the cubes to the DoF distance animation. :P

  • whoa! sweet tut i can see a lot of possibilities for this especially fog of war for fps games. oh and how do u get ur desktop to move?

  • Thanks.

The moving wallpaper is called DreamScene from Microsoft. It's basically a special update that allows you to put a movie as a background.

  • How did u get the moving background great vid btw XD

  • how you said it:

    yeah, its fun!

    no, its not fun, ok?

i like your type of speaking, its relaxed and it helps me a lot with blender!

  • Glad to know, man!

*I have tons of experience with school and stuff, very recent and updated, so I know what a student likes when he learns... besides, I may be younger than you!

  • cool, but i'm sure you are older!

  • hey agent i just got a fast computer and it has vista on it, oh and what were the specs of your pc?

    Thanks BobbyJEL101

  • Well, mine is custom (I built it myself).

    Motherboard: GA-EP43-DS3L Gigabyte with PCI-E 16x 2.0 support

    CPU: Intel Core2(TM)Quad Q6600 4 cores at 2.4 GHz

Memory: 2x1 GB Kingston HyperX CL5 DDR2 on 1066 MHz

GPU: BFG nVIDIA GeForce 8800 GTS 320 OC (plan on selling it, though, for a GTX 260 OCX-no faults, only I am looking for insane hardware for personal use)

Tons of other things, all from birthday presents and pocket money for the past 3 years... but it runs like a dream!!!!!!!one!!eleven!!!

  • I'm gonna buy a mac book^^

because i can run blender on it, too!!

  • Great!

  • indeed^^

  • Whoa, thats pretty cool! Do you know how to make an explosion?

  • Thanks!

Well, no, I only know how to do the effect. No visual candy, though.

  • Aww, darn. Lol. Thanks anyways!

  • now thats a tutorial

  • That was cool but I have to ask, How did you get that moving wallpaper? It is awesome!

Have you tried out the realtime DOF in the game engine? it is quite cool!

  • The wallpaper thing is called Dreamscene(TM) from Microsoft - Comes with the Updates from Windows Vista (ULTIMATE).

As for DoF in the GE, not yet, but I have seen it. Blender just took a great turn, didn't it? (apart from the cloth and duplivert thing...)

  • Cloth and duplivert thing?

but yeah. The game engine took a huge leap with the latest update. I love the open projects they have going like Elephant's Dream and Big Buck Bunny (and Yo! Frankie obviously). They add so much to an already powerful program

  • your the best tutorial guy ever man..

  • Thanks, dude.
