I agree with you both, sometimes the acting is horrible and you just end up laughing at how bad it is, but then when you really follow the culture you have movies like Ip Man..
meh, i'm always disappointed by the lack of training in swordsmanship and choreography.
weak unsteady wrists, horrible form, swings that wouldn't even cut paper. the acting otherwise is decent. yet, after watching so many of these Japanese action films, you see so many actors get recycled into numerous roles and you start to realize, their characters don't really change much in either film. same voice, same attitude, same disposition, same postures. like a casting crew made of Nicolas Cage
