  • The domes for the 11 ft. production model are frosted or translucent white. I think Smithsonian said the blinking lights were only blue & orange. I don't know if the lights themselves are rotating, or just the 12-rib inner dome rotated?

  • I think it could be one of two things; 1) the model was built with windows only on one side, so to show the port side they'd have to apply reversed insignia decals and flip the film to simulate that opposite angle. 2) It also could be an artifact which is typical to the film format; at 24fps the direction of turning wheel spokes are known to run backwards and alter directions as they accelerate. It's an effect called aliasing.

  • @KevinJC1991 Looks like your hypothesis 2) if you look closely.

  • Surley there must be a scientific (Star Trek universe) explanation for the change of directions! Perhaps something to do with navigation.
