@clarkewi lol are must be the kook. This is totally real. He wears the leash on his right leg because it's his strong leg and he doesn't want it to get tangled around the video camera. Also, it's a big wave leash (probably 8 foot or longer) so it has enough slack to be on his front leg and not get in the way. at a wave like this, he is only going for the tube. Sick video, sick surfing - i will get to Cloudbreak someday!

@lemuriangypsy this is possibly the dumbest thing i've ever heard. Clearly he has it on front foot for a reason, but that's most definitely not it. The amount of drag caused by a leash has no effect whatsoever on surfing.

@lemuriangypsy actually, I do surf. Never have I once noticed appreciable drag from a leash. Apparently, I'm not the only one, as all pro surfers wear leashes on their back leg when they use them. Like I said, I'm sure he's strapped on his front for a reason, but "leash drag" is not it.
