i somehow don't think this was an ordinary shadow priest. he met with Shao Kahn a couple of times and organized the sword sorcery. Also an ordinary priest probably wouldn't dare to ask Kahn stop the tortures. Maybe the Edenian was also very strong, like Rain, or the priest did not want to use his powers and to fight him in fair combat, as he showed some respect for his courage.

I have to disagree. Scorpion and Sub-Zero are both atleast as powerful as Reptile is. Shao Kahn is the one of whom everyone is afraid. I think he and Raiden are the ones that rock.
