  • A loose mainjet is my bugaboo when the bike acts up like that but you had ok starting. Loosing a float bowl and having it bounce attached to gas line while the needle and float liberate itself is the worse. I actually found the sparkling viton tipped needle that day but watched a semi (lorry) flatten the float minutes later. LOL! push was 4.5km mountain hills n dales.

I had a float bowl come loose once, lost a screw.

Miles away from home a hunt for a screw was on

I discovered the clamp screw on the breather hose was the right size.

    yippee did the job!!

  • @lunmad

Lucky your on that side of the pond, the land of spare 2BA screws! Here your gas clamps would be US thread or imperial.

    LOL! Waiting for pt 2....

  • @441rider

There are plenty of "loose screws" over here :-D

Just editing pt 2 won't be long :-)

  • What a treat, despite the carb trouble, the bike sounds splendid as ever. Twiddling on the move - impressive if not tricky! Great to see you back John, and Hi to Carole.

  • still sounds luvly :).

  • @srcheney

    Hi srcheney :-)

    thanks she going great too!!

  • Hi John, I am in the process of dumping the Mickarb off my Bullet and fitting a Concentric. With the vibration on my 500 single I think I will glue the air and throttle stop screws once they are set!!! Looking forward to No 2 coming up on my subscriptions Cheers to you and your good (and very patient) lady. Dave

  • @notwocdivad

    Hi Dave :-)

the concentric's are nice easy carbs to set up and do what it sez on the tin!!

A couple of o-rings and a fill up with fresh petrol cured my problems.

I have used a dod of silicon over the screws before today, it work a treat

  • Man I had a few runs like that, with my tick-over going up and down a lot, the main thing with my carb was an extremely worn slide, so it was pot luck when I shut the throttlle where the screw would catch the slide! But I had one less worry than you 'cause i had a kill switch! I thought your missus was particularly tolerant of the impromptu visits to the various lay-byes on the way.

Good you kept going though and rode around the problem so far......

    Best,

    John

  • @jocky2

Apart from tickover (pain) it was a good ride, I know my slides are worn and bodies come to that,

but with a twiddle here and there you can keep em going.

    I'm just editing #2
