The short film by Moore, PET OR MEAT, was shown here in France & I think never has been in the US. People come up to her door for a rabbit & she says, PET OR MEAT?

If you're going to eat meat, you have to kill the animal first. There's no way around it. Also, death is a process... the cells in your body might take an hour or more to perish regardless of method of kill. A head wound could render the animal unconscious, and it would still convulse. I'm guessing the rabbit was unconscious and in shock. Have you ever tried to kill an animal? How would you do it? It's certainly not humane, but meat lovers have to eat too.

If you can't kill an animal (at least watch an animal being killed) you should become a vegetarian. If you can go to a restaurant and have a bloody steak you also should be able to think of how it was treated and killed. Me myself only eat meat from animals I, or someone in my family, has shot in the forest or raised and butchered ourselves. I refuse to support the large scale meat industry, which many times are horrific.
I'm vegan, and as much as I hate the fact that I stumbled on this video, and although I don't agree with the practice of killing animals - the way these rabbits are raised and killed is a LOT more humane than how they'd be treated and slaughtered at a factory farm. At least they have a somewhat decent life and a quick death; much more than they'd be given at typical rabbit farms. Learn where your own grocery store food comes from before attacking this woman.

I took a date to this movie. Man she was gorgeous and I liked her a lot. She was going to UC Santa Cruz at the time, and she was pretty sensitive. I have to say I loved this documentary. It was a real woman doing a job that most people wouldn't do. Its easier to be dislocated from your food than to go pick out your dinner from a group of animals that you have been feeding and caring for. Good for her. If you eat meat, you should be okay with this. I'm a vegetarian, so I would disagree with killing animals unless necessary, but these rabbits appear to be living in fine conditions before they are killed especially compared to slaughterhouses etc. - so personally, if animals are going to be killed for their meat/fur at all, I'd prefer this way.

What I would like to know is why are the union delegates (if that is what they were) doing talking to an automobile executive like Roger Smith? Eh, no big deal really. I used to raise rabbits for meat and show when I was a kid. To answer some questions about "beating the rabbit in the head", rabbits have a weak spinal cord where it attaches to the brain. To properly and humanely kill a rabbit, you strike it with a blunt object (the pipe in this scenario), and then the rabbit is dead.
It's normal for animals to twitch when they die, and that's all this rabbit is doing. It's just muscles reacting to the brain being disconnected.

If you can't kill an animal (at least watch an animal being killed) you should become a vegetarian. If you can go to a restaurant and have a bloody steak you also should be able to think of how it was treated and killed. Me myself only eat meat from animals I, or someone in my family, has shot in the forest or raised and butchered ourselves. I refuse to support the large scale meat industry, which many times are horrific.

I'm vegan, and as much as I hate the fact that I stumbled on this video, and although I don't agree with the practice of killing animals - the way these rabbits are raised and killed is a LOT more humane than how they'd be treated and slaughtered at a factory farm. At least they have a somewhat decent life and a quick death; much more than they'd be given at typical rabbit farms. Learn where your own grocery store food comes from before attacking this woman.

I have to say I loved this documentary. It was a real woman doing a job that most people wouldn't do. Its easier to be dislocated from your food than to go pick out your dinner from a group of animals that you have been feeding and caring for. Good for her. If you eat meat, you should be okay with this. I'm a vegetarian, so I would disagree with killing animals unless necessary, but these rabbits appear to be living in fine conditions before they are killed especially compared to slaughterhouses etc. - so personally, if animals are going to be killed for their meat/fur at all, I'd prefer this way.

Have you watched this movie? GM was basically where everybody worked in Flint, Michigan. 30,000 people were unemployed there, leaving most homeless. People had to make many any way they could so they didn't lose their homes. This was this woman's way...raising rabbits and killing some for meat and selling others for pets.

We watched this in Sociology class today and some people covered their eyes and one left the room, it was so stupid! Rabbit is good, nothin wrong with what she's doing, she can't buy groceries! Did anyone see the end where she said "I'm going back to school to be a veternarian, cuz someone has to help the animals." As she stroked a bunny in her lap, funny as hell!

Eh, no big deal really. I used to raise rabbits for meat and show when I was a kid. To answer some questions about "beating the rabbit in the head", rabbits have a weak spinal cord where it attaches to the brain. To properly and humanely kill a rabbit, you strike it with a blunt object (the pipe in this scenario), and then the rabbit is dead.
It's normal for animals to twitch when they die, and that's all this rabbit is doing. It's just muscles reacting to the brain being disconnected.
