Thanks so much!!! VERY good video!!! Though i thought you had a formula in your description , but then i downloaded your template and just use that, thank you very much
For whatever reason, the formula posted in the video did not work for me either. My goal is to create a checkbook register inside my Google Docs, and as of Sept 2011, the following worked well......
=+G2+E3-F3
This very simple formula works, but will display the balance all the way down your spreadsheet. After a little googleing, I found this to work and eliminate the repetitive running balance.
I wasn't aware until recently that OpenOffice formulas use semi-colons where Excel uses commas (or such was the case in this formula). In other words, if you're using OpenOffice, replace the commas with semi-colons and it should work just fine.
@joe42968 I apologize for the delayed response. Apparently, YouTube does not let you use ">" in the video description so I added the formula into the video as a speech bubble. You can find that at 3:30.
Thank you so much!! This video is perfect, I'm all set up and this has really made my life easier. I really appreciate this tutorial!

=IF(AND(ISBLANK(F3),ISBLANK(E3)),"",G2+F3-E3)
Please note I used columns E,F,G and not D,E,F.

@ryanatcheapchucky Is this: IF(D3>0.01,F2-D3+E3,IF(E3>0.01,F2-D3+E3,""))
the correct formula? It doesn't work for me.
