  • Holy fuck .. spit your gum out next time.

  • @SwollenCranium THANK YOU!

  • Holly cow. Bet you could park a bulldoser on the dome when it's finished.

  • The reinforcement with steel of this structure is too large.

The design is not new, exist over 50 years.

In Italy are those igloos been around since the 1960s, completely without steel reinforcement and with spans up to 15 m. Die walltickness ist about 5 cm, only concrete, only with rabbit wire structurally reinforced..

  • @ramiroarenapanama

Not sure why you consider the steel too large? Whether it is a tornado, hurricane or earthquake you should have steel in the concrete or experience what Haiti did with non reinforeced concrete

  • That is correct against huricanes a.s.o, but I told from Italy, sorry.

  • This may seem like a silly question, but, is the airform holding the rebar in shape or is rebar preshaped?

  • rebar is bent to follow the airform so the airform is actually the form

  • air form really isn't needed :) if you are professional working with steel

  • Does the outside need to be painted every so often? Or is the color permanant..

What about mold on the outside in hot humid weather?

  • The foam and coating over the foam will only need to be hosed periodically or run a copper ring around the top to let the mineral drip over the dome with every rain.

Exterior needs recoated periodically like any other UV prone material.

  • approximate square feet is 900 and cost for the shell wil be at $25,000

  • What is the approximate cost of the raw construction and the the interior square feet amount ?

  • In some locations it is better to do the work inside due to environmental conditions. In Florida the weather is mostly good so spraying from the outside eliminates the fighting gravity. Once the concrete is applied urethane foam is applied to the exterior then stucco finish to create a smooth finish

  • Why are you putting the rebar outside of the airform? Isn't it suposed to be inside so that the outside looks smooth? Is it better the way you're doing it? How much was the cost of that irform in particular? It would be nice to se the matrial cost list. Thanks

  • i am saving to build one as well
