  • watching one's life is usually legalism, if one's life does not match one's doctrine then WE DO NOT KNOW THE LORD.

working hard to DO SOMETHING about it is usually legalism, the issue is a relationship with the Lord which is easy, in rest and not burdensome

  • @Strefanasha I like the way you put that, very true.

  • We should bring people in a relationship with Jesus Christ. Then he will teach us. As he said call no one rabbi or master, because he is your master. If you feel torn up between different teachings in the bible, then accept Jesus as your Lord. Be honost with yourself and do what he tells you to do and pray about.

  • The Bible says this and tell us to do the following:

"Be diligent in these matters; give yourself wholly to them, so that everyone may see your progress. Watch your LIFE AND DOCTRINE closely. Persevere in them, because if you do, you will save both yourself and your hearers." (emphasis mine)

  • Pastors , I use the term loosely, are preaching the word and not living it because they clearly haven't been called to ministry. They use ministry as another form of making money, another career. They clearly don't realise the consequences of bad shepherding.

  • @Greavsieandsazzle Amen too that!!!!! the church today is a bussiness rather than a house of God. And it amazing that these bussiness type preachers for money have no conviction that what there doing is wrong. Jeremiah 23:1 Woe unto the pastors who scatter my sheep KJV

  • there are more parrots of the Gospel then comunicaters of the Gospel.

  • Im 25 and have been really turned off by this 20's something group I have been going to because the young pastor is always bringing prosperity into his message each time and talking about "If you can pay your bills or have this problem, thats not the life God wants for you" Sorry... but if you read the new testament, following Jesus from a worlds perspective doesnt always turn out with monetary wealth and good health. Does God bless us? Certainly! But its not always from a fleshly perspective.

  • @NexusCapital Read the letter that Paul wrote to Timothy, if your Pastor or teacher is not in alignment with what Paul is teaching Timothy to do, then I would suggest that you lovingly and prayerfully find another church. If you want see a good video on how to be closer to God watch Pastor John MacArthur's "Does the Truth Matter Anymore?" It's a 5 part series that will def help you want to stand up for God's word like never before.

    Grace be with you brother

  • unbiblical, UNGODLY LIFE

  • What is he talking about? What is an un-biblical lifestyle? Dangerous?

  • @IThinkTherforeIAm Probably the apathy/contentment and how gratifying it is to hear powerful sermons, yet our lives reflect no real change at all. As followers of Christ we need to take very seriously the message of Jesus and the redemptive narrative of the Bible. It's not just some nice motivational stuff to hear, it's real, life changing, powerful truth.. and despite preaching truth, if the truth isn't tangibly effecting our lives, then it's dangerous and un-biblical.

  • @innovate4jesus cool. :-)

  • We all need Holy Spirit to both give us revelation and help us walk...follow Jesus. Good to have pastors...but Holy Spirit is our teacher. The word of God is the sword of the Spirit...not the sword of good intentioned men. Holy Spirit glorify Jesus in and through us...and may we boast more in your goodness, than our own. My faith may be weak but your faith Holy Spirit is strong. Fall upon us in power I pray in Jesus name that the love of Jesus may be seen and not just the love of people.

  • Awesome video. Causes one to not only analyze what they are preaching but analyze themselves, their walk in Christ. As preachers we must live what we preach. God bless

  • This is extremely powerful truth. I was blessed by hearing this. I would agree that our sermon's are getting better however, the change is less. I often consider is it because of "Logic." It make sense to do better, but we don't really do it cause it's better.

  • was this filmed in a cave?? Francis Chan is so on point

  • Thanks for the share :)

  • ministry sucks. Trust me, I'm a youth pastor. I agree that we younger pastors are sharing great messages. What's hard is getting the older generation to respect and listen to them. We see wrong in the sense of caring more about ourselves than the community while the older generation sees our language, alcohol, smoking, tattoos, etc. as the evil. This gap is so hard to bridge. Keep being relevant and doing what Jesus did, that will create true change

  • @luceblueboy Amen to this. I'm older, yet see as you. What I try to explain is that salvation is a spiritual circumcision performed by God and often people will never, ever amend their outward behavior or appearance to satisfy just who? A God who has freely justified them? or a fellow church member who's not seeing evidence? This is why people leave church, yet remain in the Body of Christ. I fear those looking for evidence in others may have no revelation of a life 'hid in Christ.'

  • Chan seems to be betraying his conviction that Christianity is about works, not faith/forgiveness/reconciliation. A lot of the work that faith does is unseen and untrumpeted by the media. It's no surprise that those who are primarily concerned with social justice don't see it.

  • Are they teaching law or gospel, pastor Chan?

  • @terriergal where did you hear him in this video speaking on Law ? He is simply asking the young pastors to live what they preach !! another missunderstanding!!!

    in Love

  • Pastors are exhausted because it's not easy being God.

  • Francis Chan is the man.

  • At the last day of my camp my pastor had called if god is calling u come on down and he said only a few young people will become young pastors.God has told me to come down and i prayed and worship and i shared my testiomny that i got the tounges and i start seeing visions of jesus wating for a feast to eat.I promise im only 12! i was one of the youngest to go up there.u can add me on facebook and i will share how i felt the presence of god.i just pray that u guys pray for me.Thank for this time

  • fully in agreement....church folks love a good message to amen too, but it really doesn't apply to them..always to someone else.

  • thanks bro, was flipping threw videos and landed on this, definitely pushes me to move wen felt conviction..

  • I love how he starts off complimenting the work that's being done then shows what needs to be improved with love. A lot of videos I see these days just bash people. God bless this man.

  • A correct understanding of truth can only result in a correct application of it. Failure to implement the proper application demonstrates a lack of true understanding. The biblical message is simple; fear God and shun evil - trusting in Christ, and Christ alone as the perfect atonement for your wicked and vile creature-ly rebellion against an infinite holy and just Creator.

  • I second this, as a 21 year old, that recently took on the responsibility of preaching once a week for about a month in our youth services, this lesson slapped me in the face. Long story short, I very quickly realized that I need to not be a freakn hypocrite. I may have learned more those weeks than the students had. Anyways, if any other young men see this, Listen to his words. We are not perfect, especially me, so be on the lookout for temptation, it is lurking.

  • Thank you!

  • This message should be spread to all...like Francis said - especially young ministers/youth pastor. I definitely agree with what Francis preaches here! You sit and hear a message from a vibrant chap in a youth meeting and you go "Wow!" but then he steps down the pulpit to mingle and you cant help but go "Oops!"

Lord, we humbly receive your undiluted to word today, to do what we say and also to FREELY and CONFIDENTLY say what we do. Amen!

  • Be doers and not hearers only... deceiving yourself. Read James. God bless.

  • Nothing good comes out of a rotten tree. People who misbehave don't give you good sermons, they give you WARPED sermons to justify their own shameful actions. That's why Christianity is today preached as a prosperity religion in many parts of the world when its supposed to be self-sacrificing for the rewards of the AFTER-life.

Many of these people make a mockery of themselves when they are hardly doing well spiritually to even attempt to teach others about the prophesies of God.

  • No repentance, no faith, no self-restraint. Yet they become preachers because those who listen pick for themselves preachers who speak things their itching ears want to listen. They remain blind because they love darkness.

  • @tawnp1- i just wanted to comment on your view of worship music. I agree with the confusion with worship music. It is mistaken by many that worship during church is the only time to worship God, when really we should worship every day. I dont neccesarily believe that rock bands are disrespecting God, but more so when they're playing to put on a show. Worship on sundays can be a great example to not only lead people during the service, but to be an example of what worship should always look like!

  • I maybe in the wrong but if you ask a pastor it seems like they get really offend after I ask this question. I'm just questioning this because there are churches that think that its okay and I really don't think it is, with what God has taught me in my life lately. get back to me. when you can.

  • Or for another example why do we have this thinking of worship with music, isn't it supposed to be us thanking God for letting us live even though we are sinners. Lots of Christian music these days sounds the same as Secular music. I can't stand going to churches that have a rock band on stage on Sunday morning I feel like we are disrespecting God. I'm a drummer and I feel like the drummer does a big fill in the music and after that everyone is raising there hands.

  • I know your a busy guy maybe one day you will get back to me. I'm a collage student and I feel like you are right on with this video, I feel like I'm being taught by people who don't even know they are fails profits. As worship is for an example, who say we need a worship leader isn't Jesus our worship leader. Isn't it blasphemy to God to say your just as good as he is to be a worship leader.

  • Greta Video!!!!

  • It sounds like the issue isn't teaching but discipleship. The fact that Chan is bewildered by the disconnect between right teaching and right action is revelatory of this lack of emphasis on discipleship. There is bewilderment because a tacit understanding that right teaching, from the pulpit, should produce right action, is actually breaking down. It's not so simple. Right teaching, yes. But also right intimacy, right community, right discipleship, right serving, etc.

  • It's so clear what he's asking us to do yet I feel, challenged on where to begin... Lord help us to become doers not just hearers

  • yes - pls fwd this to MARK DRISCOLL and put in on his playlist

  • This is so great. I hope Mark Driscoll get to see this.
