I met Ted at the 2010 Weekend of Horrors in LA. An incredibly genuine nice guy. By far my favorite Jason. Kudos to Ted for his no holds barred honesty. He had a true disdain for Zito on the film. That translated well on screen. He was a true force to be reckoned with.
they all do the conventions for the money, especially people like Tom Savini and Kane Hodder, but at least Ted White admits hes there for the money and doesn't like horror films. lol. i for one respect that. id stil like to meet him.
I have a hard time believing he's in his 80's. He looks like he could still kick some ass. As much as I love Friday movies I can't be mad at someone for hating them, Ted White clearly doesn't like them.
Haha, you guys who don´t think that these guys do it for the money are stupid? Ted White is honest about it. By the way he was the most scary Jason, and he managed to scare everyone on the set by not talking to anyone, and just being by himself. Corey Feldman was really scared of this guy.
@drumtum People also need to realize that if taking a job because you need the money makes you greedy, then 99 percent of America's work force would be guilty of being greedy.
Ted IS a big guy. He's 6'4" and around 250lbs like you said. They didn't have to do much to make him look big. Of course he's lost some of that since he's old now, but I mean...come on. The guy was John Wayne's stunt double for years. The duke was a big guy himself.
Brooker and White in my opinion were the scariest and seemed more human like then a walking zombie there movements are similar Deadpit rocks you guys know if there are any upcoming horror conventions this summer in oihio if so let me know thank you
I gotta agree. After the first five Friday instalments, and I'm a huge Mr. Voorhees fanatic & collector of many things, including even all versions of the films I don't care about.
And while the Paramount-era has the best instalments, after the fine & eccentric pseudo-Jason instalment of Part V, there was much less of an Exploitation element and WAY too damn much of a PG-13ish element to them, even without the MPAA's tampering. They just weren't the same.
I think by the time VI rolled around the directors were shooting the movies in sort of a comic book, monster-movie way rather than the whole sleazy slasher exploitation way that Steinmann, and Zito did- two veterans of that genre.
There was definately a more-or-less "Mainstream Monster Movie" think goin' on, from the undead Part VI and onward.
And great points about Steinmann & Zito compared to just television veterans & make-up FX industry veterans with guys like Mr. McLaughlin and John Carl Beuchler, Red Heddon, ect. At least the Part VIII Deluxe Edition is gonna have a blooper reel he made for the wrap party, and all of the gore in a "Slashed Scenes" featurette.
@RDarth Brooker was invited back to play Jason in Part IV..He didn't and White was also invited back for part V but turned it down also....I think White was also offered the role again in Part VI but turned them down.
Jay here...Mr. White's honesty was what I appreciated most about him. Of all the guests I met at the two conventions, he was one of the nicest, and I wish I could have talked with him for several hours. I'm sure he has a TON of stories about working with John Wayne,Clark Gable and the like. He'd be a great guest for Deadpit.
And I also agree he would make a great call in guest for Uncle Bill and Creepy Kentuckian. Like you I can just imagine how many old school, less pretenious days of on-set and classic celeb stories he has to tell. Just imagine.
I would gladly listen to an overly long, or two part inteview with him. Please ask UB and K about trying to get him for a future interview.
I can also apprechiate his honesty. Hell, cash is why most of us do what he do! :D
Well obviously he isn't a fan of the movie, that's been made clear many of times. But, he seems like a nice guy and even though he started doing the conventions for the money I bet he's enjoying himself. He's my favorite Jason.
At least he is honest indeed. I feel many former Scream Queen's and older Slasher celebritites most certainly aren't (at conventions). I don't mind him doin' it for the money, and cause it's one of the primary reasons people are motivated to do anything, and plus it maybe fun.
I'm glad many are also starting to see us diehard fans of the gerne, from all over the world, are also mostly very nice and polite 'n sweet. :D
And to the poster below: I also wonder why Savini the prick does these.
Cause he is a super weird stand off-ish Prick and enjoys. I have at least 4 fellow hardcore gerne film loving fans such as myself who have kept in touch with me and have had negative and very bad experiances with him, and beleive me the 'rumors' are true: He maybe talented, but he is a historical Prick/Asshole.
I plan to attend the Weekend of Horror's the year after next, and if Savini is there I am gonna DVD-R camcord my encounter, and if she gives me shit I'm going off on him in public.
Uhm no. I know Ted and have met with him several times. He isn't standoff-ish, he's just ornery and very serious about his work. He's also one of the most honest people I've ever met and tells it how it is.
He's actually a really nice guy. He just doesn't hold back. If he doesn't like you, he's going to let you know it. Some people are taken aback by this.
He just knows what he's worth. He's not going to take a gig if it isn't worth his time. You simply don't know him.
RainMan, I don't know why I'm bothering replying to such an old message, but I noticed this goin' thoguh past deadpit stuff.
If you read my post correctly, you would see that Mr. White and Mr. Richard Brooker are my favorite Jason Voorhee's. I was mentioning Tom Savini, who does blow.
And yeah I don't know him. I never claimed to. Good day, sir ...
@adamxbeck And he does say he's never met nicer people... I just think he dislikes hurting people, on and off film. He almost quit F13 when one of the cast members was being treated badly. Sounds like a great guy to me... and also the best Jason by far imo. =)
Ted White is one badass mother... was a good Jason too.
