lol, you can play 2 maps + a Dual Core cant handle the full physX used there, if you don't believe me, search the benchmark where it uses the full PhysX like the game dose with the card :P (even my 2x Xeon 5520 wont make it playabel - even it uses all cores). So reserce stuff, before calming something :P

In the demo you can get around the physx and have all the physics effects you'd get with the card. My single core pentium 4 3.4ghz handled that very easily. Have you even tested it on the 2x Xeon 5520 before saying that?

.... Did you even look into the technical Details, what you all lose on that trick? The Demo has like the full Version, a CPU Mode - Its just hidden with that command. Also the Demo and the Final, are in many ways technical different - witch you special see if you set up an dedicated Server. And yes, i have tested with 2x Xeon 5520 + also with an Ageia PhysX card. And I still often play that game + also Moded it a bit. Also you cant Compare Demo with the Final in many other things ...

Comparing the Demo, with the Final, is like comparing a Motorcycle with a Car. So seriously, pls look into the details and all that stuff, before claiming some non sens. I also had the game on Athlon 64 X2, Phenom X4, Phenom X4 II, i7 920 (several cpus of each, also with heavy overclocking with vapochill cooler).

I know it seems a bit much, but I am a computer freak, so ever spare € goes into my machine.

And for the Demo, its true, it needs a lot less power, witch has several Reasons:

- Less Detail Lvl (also with the card)

- Almost no unnecessary usage of Physic (the final handles static stuff, as dynamic stuff = uses a lot more power, but also shows, how much more you could have done with that card ;) ).

- the Demo lacks many Stuff, in the PhysX only maps of the Final (these use special units on the Card, a CPU cant handle today - you can compare that, letting a CPU do the work of a graphiccard - there you wont have fun as well) :P)

So again, look into the Details ;).

Having all those cpus means nothing since theres no actual way to test the full game with them without having the ppu. But you can be sure they can handle it with ease if the option to run the game through cpu was there.

For the Detail: How precise parts break and fly around (its a huge difference, since CPUs often skip small calculations there, so the game continues, the result is a less accurate physic, also making many visible errors)

Static in Dynamic means the way its calculated. like you calculate Sunlight, you can do that once, save it in a static Lightmap and just load the results from there, over and over again. Or you do it like a moving Light, as Dynamic: Means it gets calculated and compared over and over again, resulting in a better quality result (not much through, special compared to the more calculation power needed). For Cellfactor that means, that the former static stuff, gets often bugs with a CPU.

Since a CPU cant often deliver the result in time, means the game skips it then, and let for example pass a box, through the ground. So now you want to play for example MP. Of course, all people should have the same Physic results (since the parts kill). There you see it extreme, how different CPU results can be there. Parts move like from ghost hand, some are stuck, because your CPU "forgot" a part has moved and all that.

The reason is simple, a CPU was not designed, for that kind of work.

Also all my CPU Cores do mater in my test, since the game surprisingly actually uses them (not many games to date, use 16 CPU Threads). The game is far away to create full load on them, but the reason is simple, since its work is kinda special, not many CPU Units can do it. So next time pls, take a few months, to work into all that Stuff, and also understand it, before claiming Stuff, you don't know and witch are far away from being true. And don't use the "explanations for noobs".

you need to have good physx card (my 8600 doesn't have it and its lagging on 800x600 on min. details when physics are calculated ) good cpu (intel i7 is best, but i think intel quad core should be good too or dual core above E6600) and at least 2GB ram and you will have all features of game (when u dont have physx card u can run only 2 levels...)

You need a real PhysX card - Means the Ageia one, since nVidia crap cant do it, no mater witch from nVidia, none can do it, and wont ever do it. The reason is simple: nVidia dosent have a PPU on there GPUs - Cellfactor needs that PPU. nVidia PhysX wont be even used in Cellfactor (you see that, when you activate in the menue, PhysX - after reboot its deactivated again on nVidia, so no use at all ;) )

and yet i still cant play the game.

Well yes and no, your video card will only play new physx games and alike, to play cell factor like the video you need the PHYSX processing card, you can play the game in software mode but its shit compared to having a dedicated physx processor, and a video card doesnt work, nvidias physx implementation which is on your video card is very similar but does not work for cell factor, it is only good for newer games.

I forgot something, I think a physx processor is needed for this game to run at all, I cant remember because I always had the physx cpu in my pc, but I do know that some of the physx stuff runs in software mode on a cpu but if I recall you need a physx card for this game to work full stop, but other physx demos and such like can work in software mode using a cpu instead of PPU

To play cell factor you NEED the ppu, the game wont run in software mode, some of the other Physics demos etc can be played in software mode, if you dont have a ppu then software mode will be the only mode you can use, if you have a ppu you can select between software and hardware modes, but to answer your question, cellfactor was never meant to be played without a ppu thus it wont even start if you dont have one.

there was a command line, you could add, so the game allows you some maps, without the PhysX Card, the rest should be abel to mod, since you can do it also on CPU (but then you should have at least a Quad ;) )

the game was wasted. it was originally gonna be made into a full single-player game. it is kinda like garry's mod.. the physics engine enables you to do like anything. graphics are amazing. but then the game wasn't released as a "real video game" so it was made available for free on their website. now the website is closed. i think u can still download the game off sites like filefront. no point in the video game except for the graphics and the ability to play around with so much stuff

You dont actually need an amazing comp... it has to bee good ish but it NEEDS an AGEIA PhysX card. you can get a demo called Cell Factor Combat Training which can be played without a card (but not simply u need to change a bit of code) look it up. :)

While Nvidia Physx is more than capable of rendering this game at the insane physics quality shown, the game is artificially limited to only enable its highest physics settings to Ageia brand Physx card. Cuda physics are not recognized as the same thing.

You need a decent PC, but you DON"T need a Ageia PhyX card. They try and scam you into buying one. There is a code in the game that reduces your FPS to around 5 when you play they levels that supposedly need the card. There is a patch to fix this so you can play these levels without the card. Replace the (dot)s with actual .s to download the files.

God, idiots like you are the reason people hate the PPU.

There is no code in the game that limits your frame rate, I was there when that was confirmed after release by people who actually know their stuff. What is causing the lag is software versions of physics affects people cried for in CellFactor beta because they were under the delusion todays CPUs could handle it. Insecure people who refuse to admit their high end rigs are not up to task.

The patch/tweak disables these affects.
