  • Dragonlord OWNS alduin, deathwing, and the dragon god.

  • This guy was tough... I couldn't beat him the first time I tried, and then the second time I happened to get really lucky on the LAST HIT since I couldn't heal anymore and my HP was low enough to be taken out. Most satisfying last boss defeat ever.

  • I'm trying to find a remix of this but sadly I am not finding one... (well the final boss music that is)

  • @DekrosnaArcana There's the Dragon Quest Symphonic Suite, which includes all the songs in this. played by an orchestra (either London or Tokyo Phiharmonic, forget which.) It's on peyserconley's channel or a rare cd

  • @Gaaaaamer you can use a emulator, theyre free. there are different kinds you can get emulators that let you play the nes, snes, sega gensis, ps1, ps2, xbox, etc.

  • I remember beating the final boss with a bamboo stick and cloth armor.....

  • oh ho man this brings back memories. just remembering that you could beat the final boss at LV.17 was downright misrable. Doing it at LV.16...now that was something epic. though it was mearly due to some luck that it happened.

  • I think all dragon quest's final boss should be a dragon. I mean it's called dragon quest for a reason. Dragon Quest= Quest to slay a dragon.

  • Thou art more of a fool if you say yes.

  • what are you talking about? Dragon warrior/quest is 10X better than final fantasy!!

  • wow ear rape at the beginning

  • Whether this beats out Final Fantasy is irrelevent. Both get curb-stomped by the reigning goddess of all 8-bit RPGs, Phantasy Star.

  • LOL "Hurtmore"

  • When I went to fight him I had spent too much magic lighting up the dungeon T^T

  • @CaptainFussenpepper you have to save your magic. You need to buy a ton of torches, and refrain from magic use until you find the boss

  • @TheArbiter17 I've beaten the game since I posted that comment.

I still used some magic getting through but found my way there much faster.

Have one save point in the game is tense, and is probably one of the reasons this game was so fun.

Even though I had given up on turn-based RPGs.

  • @CaptainFussenpepper I agree. I don't think using a spell or two would turn the tide. I bet not finding Edrick's sword and armor would since David hits nothing above 20 and takes like 50 damage each time

  • I remember the first time I fought the Dragonglord. I beat his humanoid form in like four hits. I thought, "He wasn't so tough." Then came the dragon form.

  • Why was the audio so loud?

  • And Nintendocult,Why Didn't You Ever Use Hurtmore? You Would've Killed Him Easier.

  • @fantasto5 Because even if Hurtmore works - which it almost never does - it uses up MP that could be spent better on Healmore. David starts the fight with 111 MP and if you go into that fight with under 10 Healmores you risk death by MP exhaustion. Herbs can't beat the Dragonlord's regular attacks, let alone the firebreath.

  • @Telumel Why Does It Almost Never Work?

  • @fantasto5 The Dragonlord has immunity to offensive spells (probably 255/256 immunity, since there appears to be no such thing as complete immunity in this game). I haven't hacked it to confirm, but I just did a bit of testing and Hurtmore hit once in 15 tries (although it hit for 61). I tried using nothing but Hurtmore, going in with 146 MP and healing as necessary, and died; you need two Hurtmores to win and you have to be very high level to have a prayer of landing both in time.

  • @fantasto5 Ryan8Bit has discovered that enemies can have only up to 15/16 immunity to spells, which the Dragonlord has (1 hit in 15 is average).

The Dragonlord has 130 HP. So to win you need to land two Hurtmores plus a few sword strokes. Statistically, you're looking at 32 Hurtmores (160 MP), plus two swings - 34 rounds, during which time you will on average take 1292 damage (38/round)...which calls for 24 Healmores (92 HP - 38 damage = +54 HP/Healmore). Total 400 MP. You never get 400 MP.

  • @fantasto5 By any chance, is your experience with Dragon Warrior 1 from the remix (SNES, GBC)? I just dug out my copy of the remix and in that version DracoLord [sic] is vulnerable to Hurtmore. The bosses in that game were heavily changed from their NES versions.

  • THIS GAME IS SO OLD but good anyway :

  • where do you get Erdric's Sword?

I couldent find it so i had to beat him without it....it sucked lol

  • @Lawler221 Somewhere in the dragonlords castle. lets just say that.

  • i love this game

  • the music bleed my ears

  • it looks like a solo version of Final Fantasy

  • this game beats final fantasy because the last boss actually has a different song:D

  • actually, in japan it was always called dragon quest. But in america it was dragon warrior. Nowadays its dragon quest even in america :D

  • I couldn't beat it.

  • This game was not easy.

  • 初めて見た

  • Then you must be an idiot

  • ang hina ng character mhu

    mag pa level ka muna

  • What version of the game is this? Some of the sprites look different than my U.S. version. For example, the tiles surrounded by water at 3:55 look different.

  • I still have this on the nes i still have! FAV GAME EVER!

  • Possibly the best game... ever.

  • More like the best series evar.

    EVAR.

  • just imagine this on like some super huge tv and you are 6 years old. ONE OF MY BEST EXPERIENCES.

  • man this game really needs to be on the wii's virtual console, along with star fox and battle clash/metal combat... come on nintendo, get it together!

  • I remember that boss lol... I got to level 47 when I fought him

  • what happen if you say no in 4 : 25 ?

  • It's "Game Over" lolll... Seriously! You must restart at your last save if you say "no"...

  • last question : what will they said ?

whoa poor already beat final boss but say no must bsttle again .

  • No, she replies, "Oh, but thou must!" and gives you the option again over and over saying the same thing if you say no, until you finally say yes.

  • @NintendoCult Actually, I believe if you say "no", she just keeps saying "But thou must." until you say "yes"

  • @MetallicaMOP360 no, thats the princess...

  • @NintendoCult What's the exact dialogue?

  • @NintendoCult no she begs you to reconsider, begging you until you say yes then it's the end

  • @NintendoCult No he's Talking About At The ending. When the Princess Asks To Go With You. NOT At The Dragonlord. If You Say No At The Princess, she'll Just Say "But Thou Must" I Figured That Out On An LP.

  • This game was mega cool.

  • The thing I hate about the early versions of this game was that some of the actions you had to perform were stupid. To climb up or down the stairs, you had to select "Stairs" on the menu.

  • GOD,,,ILOVE THAT THEME,,, when he defeats the boss and he steps outside,,,i love it.

  • The text is really compressed, and it makes it a bit difficult to see how much damage you're doing.

  • This reminds me of an old compueter game sort of... I forgot what the name of it was sort of like this nes game...

  • Wizardry...right?

  • thanks

  • i wonder what happens after this

  • Peace ensues for about 100 years. Then the 3 descendants of that warrior live in a land known as Torland. 1 Prince in Midenhall Castle, one in Cannock Castle, and a princess in Moonbrooke. The peace ends and long story short the 3 heroes have to defeat Hargon the Sorceror and Malroth the demon to bring back to the land. The Grandson of the Dragonlord still lives at Charlock castle.
