  • would this be able to handle a 3.7 volt aaa battery ?

  • also saw this at tjmaxx for $13 and decided to buy one, i was so impressed by the quality i went back next day and bought the remaining 2 that were left. its made in china but designed in portland and meets all leatherman qc specs. its an awesome little light.. clip works great on ball caps

  • FYI. I just purchased ths Leatherman S2 light at Marshals dept store for $12.99 and I'm sure Tj Max will have them untill they sell out.

I also bought the S3 for $14.99 in case your interested.

  • @MrScrappydue I found 3 of them at Tj Max for the minimum price of $12.99 also. This is an excellent deal.

  • @MrScrappydue Yeah! I got a couple of the S3s also.I didn't mention it because I didn't want e-mails from people thinking I was B.Shitting,it's happened.Did you go to Tj Max after my posting? if you did, glad I could help. I thought they would make nice X-Mass gifts. The Marshals at webster square in Worcester,Mass. still has the S3s on the shelf and I think it's because of the battery size (123A). I was a working plumber not to long ago so I have a few diff Pelican lights also.

  • watch the next leatherman light have a knife and small pliers on it:)

  • Some Leatherman lights are re-branded Fenix lights.

I have an actual Fenix L1T v.2, but there is a review on youtube that is an L1T v.2 but the guy bought it from a Costco store with the Leatherman branding.

  • I found this light for 20€ so I guess I am gonna buy it. Thanks for great review!

  • "I like cheap easy to find alkaline batteries in my flashlights".... Same here...

  • Thanks for the info!

  • Cake > Flashlights.

  • ebay.... :)

  • I cant find this light anywhere!

  • your corner store great price on it 16.20

  • Awesome review think im gonna get one for my key-chain keep up the excellent reviews cutlery lover ur awesome.

  • I have one of these and they are very nice. Fenix makes them, but their reflector provides more flood than my LD01, nicer tint too, and almost as bright as the LD01 on high. Basically its a LD01 with clicky and two modes and a better tint/beam. I have the S3 also and its equally impressive, both lights show very good regulation over their runtime.

  • I just picked up the S3, just wanted to say how pleasantly surprised I was by the size.. Not very big at all, in my opinion.. The diameter is identical to that of a nickel, and its under 3 1/4" long.. Nice light I'm impressed with it.

  • i have been waiting for a video like this. i am gona order that for myself.

  • Hey man i was at walmart tonight and i was looking at the led upgrade kits they have for maglite. I was lookin to get another inova x5 cause i have one in green and wanted one in white. But i found the coleman max AAA flashlight wow this thing was just 25 bucks and put out 115 lumens 6h life time but the dang thing uses cheap batteries. Awsome lil light

  • Sorry about that. I was trying to respond to two different comments.

    LGX200 -- AA flashlight - 2 modes, forward clicky

re lockout - for poster who was worried about S2 turning on in pockets

  • Troll.

  • i believe fenix makes the lights for leatherman

  • I'm not much into flashlights, but I really like that one! And yourcornerstore(dot)com sells the S2 for $36!

    Great review!

  • I'm curious as to which bin code of XR-E they use in the Serac S2&3 but so far have come up empty in my search.

As far as AA lights go, I'm pretty happy with my AKOray. Gray anodized finish with grippy knurling, water resistant o-ring seals, uses a Q5-binned XR-E... Three programmable mode slots so I could set them up how I like, last-used mode memory, and it'll take anything in AA form factor. Very bright on alkaline & NiMH, and even a little brighter on 14500 li-ion.

  • ask on candlepowerforums....but I know they are both X-RE 7090 cree's

  • Seems like Leatherman's being a bit tight-lipped on the subject and cpf is trying to figure it out as well. Hopefully we can use output and runtime tests to figure out which grade the diode is.

  • I talk to a nice guy who goes by the name CPFcarrot, he just got all three models direct from leatherman for review, he has a full review on them, he might know some more info as he talked directly with leatherman represenatives...Also contact Fenix, as many are saying Fenix made these for leatherman...

  • @cutlerylover Either Fenix or NexTorch made this model for LM. Seen one AAA and AA by NexTorch and the head thing is very similar to this LM. Just opinion. I might be wrong :) Always good reviews from you. Tks.

  • i thank i am goning to get the L2D CE Premium Q5 sum time

  • what did you trade your nitecore for?

  • spyderco tenacious and a spyderco centefante 3, reviews to come...

  • i cant wait for the tenacious and the centefante 3 is good too, nutnfancy loves the centefante 3 and i also will have a video on my tenacious when i get mine in the mail this week.

  • I wish leatherman would make a nice AA light like these. I think I'm unna buy one of these too though.

  • yeah a AA version of this light woudl be excellent!

  • Leatherman LGX 200 which is a rebranded Fenix L1T

  • you should make a edc video every month or try

  • Fenix ftw

  • i hear that dinging noise in everyone of your videos lol

  • i thought i read something on cpf about these things actualy beeing made by fenix only that they were branded as leatherman

  • lsutigers1010 mentioned that to me, it very well may be true, and it woudlnt suprise me since the qaulity about the same...

  • i might get a new leatherman fter i got my model repaired.

dunno what i shud go for tho.

    might get a juice!

  • Pretty thing, i wish i had one, one big plus for this thingy - it has an LED (i didnt watch all video, so i guess LED wasnt standard 5mm, and it has more mW) with two lighting modes. Nice one!

  • yes its a xre-7090 cree led, 3w...

  • The middle one is always forgetten eh? I never even knew flashlights performed differently :P Good info

  • nice edc light,. hope it duralation is high

  • for a cheap every day carry light. what would you recomend, Inova x1 or Leatherman s2. please respond, thanks.

  • Inova makes nice lights but I prefer these Leasthermans more...I never like inovas interface...I just like clickie switches as appposed to inovas momentary one or constant on by twisting...

  • thanks Jeff, i apreciate it.

  • thats pretty cool nice review

  • Nice light!

What I don't like is that the button is sticking out, that easily drains the battery while carrying the light in your pocket or in a backpack.

    Thanks for the review!

  • well its kind of a hard clickie but I can see it possibly turnign on if you jam it in a pocket, but the S3 has a recessed button...

  • I don't have one of these, but perhas cutlerlover can check -- if you loosen the tail (can the tail be loosened?) or the head, it might be able to "lockout" the light so it won't turn on

  • i dont think you ever turned on the light (i skipped around some.

if you do a flashlight review you should turn on the light.

After watching again you did briefly shine the light on your hand but lets see it in the dark!

  • Actually he did turn it on at around 5:07-5:11

  • I mentioned at the end that Ill have an outside review at night comparing the beam directly to a fenix L1D...

  • That looks like a really good option for me. I am looking to replace an old AAA mag lite that I have had for years. The only problem is that I want something good for under 25$. :(

  • Well they make LED upgrades for your minimag solitarie, but the LED drop in woudl be like $15 or so...thats oen ooption is to upgrade your existing light...

  • I don't actually have a solitaire, It's a 2 cell 'AAA' and they don't make an LED for it. I will probably end up with this Leatherman S2 or the Fenix, mostly thanks to you.

  • I have a drop in for my 2 AAA minimag, check lighthound dot (com) I think terralux has a drop in for it...

  • I often hear about you trading your gear in your vids, but I wonder, where at?

  • the forums like bladeforums, knifeforums, candlepowerforums, edcforums...

  • very cool

  • Cool I think i'll get this light.

  • man, I really like your reviews, so dont get me wrong.

But you should really start monitoring the length lol. Only you could do a 14+ minute video on a mini flash light ;)

  • haha, well on this one I alos had to mention the other lihts which took up some time...but there wa alot to say for this little light...

  • all the leatherman lights are made ny fenix

  • that woudl explain the quality then!

  • As always, the review kicks butt! Keep 'em comin' Jeff!

  • nice flash light

    love your videos man

  • dueces

  • first view + love all ur reviews
