I think its wonderful and so selfless that this man of God could share his ideas and thoughts of how he created this awesome song. And its a song that will stand the test of time... my friend Barbara on youtube introduced me to Paul's channel, and bless her heart for it... Thanks Paul
The last 7 words in this song's chorus is a tragic perversion of the truth presented prior. Yes, He took the fall, but did he think of me "above all"? No, no he didn't, nor could he. Our worship must be God-centered. This is not. This line should be revised so it will resonate with the Majesty of God rather than be discordant with it. We may only experience God's love by seeing his Righteousness and Glory "above all" (consider Ps103:10 Rom3:25 Mt26:42). Glory to God in the Highest!
@usa4israel If saying that God Choose to die for us individually doesn't show Gods Majesty and Unfailing love for us.. which is the message he tries to get through to us in John 3:16.. you know' where it says "For God so LOVED THE WORLD, that he gave his ONLY begotten SON, So that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have everlasting life".. God thought of us individually on the cross.. and for someone as "HOLY" as you just tried to come across, doubting that he did AND that HE CAN
@elementsofgodtony The issue is not whether Christ thought of us. The issue is, did he think of me/us “above all” to the exclusion of the Father and Holy Ghost? It should be clear that Christ held the highest devotion to the Father and Holy Ghost. And our so-called “worship” shouldn’t attribute words to Christ contrary to the supremacy of the Trinity. I assure you I have no holiness apart from that afforded by Christ’s sacrifice. This song ends at best in faux worship; at worst self worship.
No, I think this song wants to present our Jesus, who is above all things that we could or couldn't imagine in the verse. But He humbled Himself to zero point, giving His best because of His love for us. He loves us and thinks of us, above all things. God loves all of His creations, but what He loves most is us. When He sweat blood, He thought of, "this is for your works". When He was chastised, "this is for your sicknesses". When He was finally crucified, "this is for your sins".
@r3ck0rd “[Christ] Though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped, but made himself nothing, taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men.” (Philip 2) This is humility. And “me above all” is not. Lets not forget to whom we sing and for what purpose. We must worship God in his fullness the Father, Son & Holy Spirit. We exclude 2 of the 3 when we sing, [Christ] was laid behind the stone [alone] . . . [and conclude w/] me above all.
@r3ck0rd The context is as follows: "Crucified...You lived to die rejected (or forsaken) and alone" Christ said, "My God, My God why have you forsaken me?" So, the song is supported by scripture at this point and we can see that the "you" in "you... thought of me above all" refers to Christ alone. The phrase "you [that is Christ]... thought of me above all" is unsupported in Scripture, excludes recognition of the Father and Holy Spirit, and ignores Christ's example of humility.
Thanks Paul for sharing how you wrote this song. I write Christian songs too and hope to put some up on youtube soon. I write songs in much the same way you described. I love your song and your musical talent. You definately have a gift from God and I am so glad you have shared it with the world.

@usa4israel I do not only calling the Son by calling Jesus, or only calling the Father when calling God.
You must know what's the meaning of "above all" in the context.
