  • Low deep and round and rollkur is not the same thing.

  • how horses should be riden

  • i hate this kind of riding !

  • @Ash11295

    1) Yes we do know how difficult it is to ride dressage, doesn't justify using rollkur 2) Not all horse's like double bridles and if you're riding in one to gain more control then you have no idea about the real reasons for using a double bridle 3) Yes, but using this as an argument is as logical as saying that because some people are born hunchedback it's okay to to slouch

  • @TheMelpher

    4) You own a 4* dressage horse good for you.

    5) I believe being forced to touch your chest on your chin for a period of time is painful

    6) Infact it is like this, trust me

  • @Ash11295 i think you may have misenterpreted the meaning of this video, this is demonstraiting rolkur, otherwise known as hyperflexion, it stresses their joints and creates breathing problems. there is a difference between rolkur and just "on the bit" if the horses head is behind the vertical to an extent that is when it is classified as rolkur, i hope you dont take offence to this comment but i was just trying to explain the difference between rolkur and plain dressage :)

  • Does this look like a happy horse?

  • :(:( look at the eyes of the horse :(

  • look at the sadness in this horses eyes!

  • you can see the hurt in the eyes. this is bad. i love dressage. but not like this

  • OH.My.Goodness. People this is immature. Posting Hate videos will only start drama. You cant stop people from using bits. Horse really dont mind IF yo use them correctly.Ofcourse the rider in the video could give him some slack.

  • The horse looks fine, but it's more of because he's used to it type of look. Rolkur and LDR put stress on joints and are dangerous because the horse may not necessarily be able to balance as well. If you tried running with your head pressed against you're stomach or even justing looking down instead of forward you'd probably trip too.

  • :(

it looks so painful its like u can see it in his eyes

  • Is rollkur used in Dressage or is it something completely different?

  • ow i wouldnt want to ask my horse to go on the bit now let alone this

  • The reins go slack when the horse yields, pressure is applied when it resists... I don't see the reins going slack when the horse resists.

  • Where is the LONG in long-deep-and-round xD

  • @Sib667 It's "LOW, deep and round", not long. It should be long.

  • @UltimateDQ It's both.

  • Schrecklich.

    Einfach Schrecklich.

  • This is abuse .... and should be banned ....

  • das ist gewollt.

    so ein schwachsinn.

mann kann es icht sehen ob ein pferd this von alleine amcht.den kein pferd macht dies von sich aus.

  • Please join our ANTI Low Deep Round ( or Rollkur in any other name). A group on Facebook that is against Rollkur/ LDR. Lets show the PRO LDR group, that we will not be fooled just because they've invented another name to this horrific method!!

  • To me it looks like he is blinking.....not 'squinting in pain'. As far as rollkur goes, this isn't classical rollkur position, just slightly overbent. I consider it bad when the horses chin is pretty much to its chest, which I have personally seen and all theo ther people were like "oh hes looking soo good!" thats the kinda stuff that makes me sick.

  • wow. When i saw this in slomotion i had a weird feeling in my stummic. It was twisting... this just makes me sick.

  • you should rename the vid to low deep and round, since the FEI decided to rename this awful practice.

  • @thyljia

    :-)

You are so right. I'll have a look at it.

  • @thyljia First of all, this vid does not demonstrate Rollkur. There is a distinct difference between LDR and Rollkur. Rollkur occurs when the horse's head is being forced into hyper flexion through the use of the curb rein. In other words, the curb rein has no slack what so ever. If you watch this closely, (and you can due to slo mo) you will notice that both the snaffle rein AND the curb rein are held consistently and there is slack given. This is an example of LDR, which causes no undue stress

*schnief*

  • If a horse is trained correctly to hold his head in this position, it won't hurt him. Most rollkur head positions are worse.

  • Training wont change his anatomy. it still hurts

  • There are times when horses will put their heads in that position anyway. Of course, it isn't for nearly as long. Anyway, most positions ARE worse than this. Still, I wouldn't ever want to ride with it myself. :)

  • yes for a moment or 2, but its never held. especially during movement. Just bc most are worse doesnt make this better. its so clear the horse is in pain when it squints its eyes at every stride. i agree though and im glad you wouldnt ride this way

  • I know it doesn't make this better just because most positions are worse, and I do wish that people would pay more attention to what their horses are going through when they use rollkur. You're right that it is clear here that the horse is in pain. Now if only the horse's rider could see that, too. :)

  • this horse would be beautiful was it not for that disgusting position of his head.

  • this is exactly why people run crap on dressage in the national horsemanship world. people use training methods like rollkur to speed things up, when in reality it is horribly sick! you can see the fear in the horses eyes that are trained in rollkur, and basically...it makes me disappointed in anky for using such a training method..i have seen SO many talented horses go down from the use of rollkur, and i HIGHLY advise you never start using it...it is unethical and banned now in USEF rules.

  • although this video is not as bad as most rollkur trained horses are put through, this is the only video i could find in motion..

  • that is just not right why dont people understand that this is abuse

  • im sorry but that is very sad for the horse but not every rider in dressage rides like this i am a western rider but my best friend rides english and i rode his dutch warmblood and he was being rode with a bit but he didnt seem terrifed or anything he accually enjoys riding so maybe its just some people not all

  • they don't care for eyes only for performance. Its sad and humilating what any horse in a bit goes through! Glad i got rid of mine and went to Nevezorov method.(= Poor horse I want to cry!!!!)=

  • bad.... really bad... i hate to se like this.. :o(

  • If the eyes of your horse always look like that something must be really really wrong. If my horse were to look like that I'd call the vet immediately.

  • @antmanonimus Agreed, those dressage reins aren't all that long and the rider seems to be going loose reined. Some horses just like to carry themselves certain ways, horse's neck looks lose and relaxed. My horse canters with his head in that position at times and i've never had a double bridle on him and have never tried Rolkur on him. Some people see 'behind the verticle' as Rolkur..

  • Please keep in mind that not every dressage rider does this! This is a "method" used by only those who believe in it.

This is what gives Dressage a bad name. :(

  • Those eyes, it's terrifying...
