David...well here it is the eve of the first day of summer, and i'm still viewing, loving and enjoying this video which i discovered during christmas time. question: how were you able to get your vocals double tracked?
I recorded all the parts (harmony vocals included) on a hard disk 16-track recorder. Then I have an open "live" mic I'm singing through, along with a "live" guitar signal.
I like that song too. Last summer I bought the CD version of the Byrds Greatest Hit, and It Won't Be Wrong was a bonus track. When I first heard it, I felt that it had early traces of Crsoby, Stills, Nash & Young. I wanted to do that song for an Underdog video.
bloody impressive, that! listened to a few of your byrds tribs and if they're not impressed, then they're arseholes (and yeh, i'm a big fan of theirs!).
well done!
a kick up the arse for me, and i may well be competing for votes with you, man, when i get into my next flat!
I heard this song another YouTube post (which was just removed). What CD can I get this from? It's an exciting song (as everything from the Byrds are).
Hey your morphing into Roger Mcguinn! Just kidding, your cover versions are a pleasure to see. How about LADY FRIEND someday? I put together a 3 song tribute to Gene Clark and you can feel free to check it out on my videos page when you get the chance.
Good Morning, David, and thanks for the "encore" --- I hadn't listened to this one in a long time, but (to my extreme delight) Steve Van Zandt dropped "She Don't Care About Time" into the middle of The Underground Garage last night. How long had it been since I'd listened? Well, I'd completely forgotten about Roger's little "borrowing from Bach" for the solo, which you played beautifully, as usual :-). I'll get back to you with responses to your other messages later today.
Hi, lynchzilla --- technically, it's not "classical" . . . it's "baroque" LOL! (For musical-trivia buffs out there, the solo is lifted from the chorale "Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring" by Johann Sebastian Bach :-)).
@sdingeswho The last time "MOJO" magazine did a feature on the Byrds, they had a fact box including the "fact" that the intro to Mr Tambourine Man came from "Jesu, joy.." by Bach. Of course it didn't, this guitar solo DID, as you say! I wrote to them but they refused to publish the correction: really professional journalism....
David: Another awesome Byrds rendition!! The Rickenbacker sounds incredible-- great compression & sustain. Lots of jingle-jangle, especially on the solo!!!
Great vocals and twelve string

You're the best! I still love listening to ALL of these old Byrd songs including ones like this that weren't the greatest Top 40 Hits.

Superior musician, recording artist & engineer!!! McGuinn must be proud.
I saw the Byrds play in L.A. a few times during the 60s and noticed that their stage work was below par.
Also,I was just kidding about doing a version of "Mind Gardens" and admit my youtube age is listed in Leap Years. ha ha

Oh good. I really didn't want to learn Mind Gardens. But you never know. Thanks for the compliment.

Sounds better than the Byrds did performing live. Nice job!! How about recording something off the wall..like 'Mind Gardens'?
creb1101 3 years ago
You're really wanting Mind Gardens I take it?

I waited with great anticipation for that "classical music" guitar solo in the middle, and I wasn't disappointed! Very cool, David!
