THE CLASSIC ROCK OF REO SPEEDWAGON SOUNDS BETTER THAN THE RAP CRAP OF TODAY AND I WISH THEY WERE TOGETHER. IF THE EAGLES CAN LAST TO THIS DAY AND AGE WHY CAN'T REO SPEEDWAGON.
And this is bigger and harder for us, teens in the 80s; we really lived that music from allover the world, less or more commercial, so different and so unique at the same time. It 's not an easy thing to explain but there was a main feel everywhere in that age, so connected with the music...
Wow. I can't deny, but their songs are actually great. And in my age, there's a lot of music genres right now. But their songs are way more meaningful and came from the heart. I hope the youth these days will bring these kinds of songs back up.
I heard a DJ say a while back that Kevin Cronin kept this song in a briefcase for two years after he wrote it coz he was not sure that it was good enough to produce. So glad he did,as I feel it is one of REO,s greatest songs!
Everybody is complaining that music just aint what it used to be. I can agree 100%. Thats why we want to get everyone in on bringing the 80s music style back. We can do it if we get enough people in on it. New musicians will either follow with the style or go crawl into a hole. Either way. This decade is a new one. 20Teens! 2011-2019 Can be the years of come back!! The numbers also correspond to 8. Neat fact. REPOST THIS TO SPREAD THE 80S COMEBACK WITH THE WORLD! 20TEENS! I was in my teens and early 20's during the 80's and blasted the music for being, "too electronic". Looking back, didn't realize what great music it was, and that is was the last great music of our times. Today's artists, Justin Bieber, Lady GaGa, Taylor Swift, etc., want to make a name for themselves outside of their music. Take a look back, If you're that good, your music will make the name for you!
I'm a 57 yr old combat vet that just saw the most determined little guy in the world address a microphone with the conviction of a marine with a mission! Kevin Cronan, is without a doubt, one of the most stylistic singer song writers to come out of the 80's era. Like him or not, you can't fault his story telling abilities, his musicality nor his timing. A true master of the power ballad. IMHO.
@jshowa2, quite right and well argued. My point was really for the 'main' stream. I'll ask you to grant the fact that there were not too many recordings in the 'late 60's/early 70's', in which this invention was a 'big' part of music. I know that you've done some research here, so I'll take you at your word regarding Moog et al. Simply, from where I sit, it is more of an early 80's main stream usage where we start to consistently hear synthesizers in 'hits' that are still respected to this day.
Well this is the sweetest love song ever to come out of the 80's I can only think of the girl Im dating right now who makes me so confident and I don't want to say shes perfect but its close.
@jshowa2, that may be, from your prespective. In case you didn't know, synthesizers, even in infancy, didn't come out till the late 70's. REO has been rockin since 68', first album released in 72'. Where were your synthesizers then?!? Listen to the music, then state an opinion, ain't hard.
You can really tell that these guys are playing their music for fun, and not for money or so-called "fame." It's a wonderful time when you can see the smiles on the musician's faces.
I'm tired of all this "Back in my day we were discreet and cared about each soul and bla blah blah" Back in your day the reason for music was to OD on drugs and to get women. Back in your day this was mainstream and now the mainstream is shit like it always has been. You have to dig deep to find good music and to find people who aren't just looking for money, women, or selfish recognition. the entire 80's was people wearing ridiculous cloths and putting on make-up to get attention.
I love the fake crying at the end, gets me everytime :D also this song reminds me of high school, although that wasn't that long ago the song still is special because of it.......great times.
I never thought i would say that new music was crap and i try hard not to!!! like gnerations before ...thank god i found that some good music is being released out there but very independent and underground thanx to radio stations that have not sold to big corps...THE BLACK KEYS is a good example of a creative duo that still play what they like and get attention but no radio play for big business crooks
there was these kids in my CAD class that tried to tell me that Scremo music was better than this and they said it took more tallent to make scremo i was like are yoiu guys fucking idiots i wanted to jack them in the face so bad
i've been searching far and wide all over my life for this song exclusively with this video. and now i found it! the alternate video sucks! (not the song, just the video) bcz this song is great! it ruled my childhood for a very long time. nearly bringing tears to my eyes.. great memories.
@3impersonators i watched this video only once or twice in my life, i guess it was on vh1.. but ever since, i had to withstand the other video, it's kinda ridiculous.. even here in youtube, this video was a little hard to find. but i seriously have to thank Luiscmckl for this video. my mind travels a long long way back with this song.
Sorry Toysoldier, REO has never won a Grammy. In 1981 they were snubbed in favor of John Lennon's "Double Fantasy" shortly after his death. And in 1985, a guy named Michael had a new album called "Thriller" and co-wrote a song called " We are the World". Kim Carnes won song of the year for Betty Davis Eyes. They didnt stand a chance. The closest they came was being nominated for an American Music Award.
To everyone who thinks they're the young one all alone liking old music; you're not at all alone, and it's not about age, it's maturity and appreciation. Good stuff is always good stuff. Understand this and you'll get a big head start.
wow......the 80s....so good i recomend everyone to download as much 80s as possible....................those years were the best...........try air supply also
I hate to bug in here to ask for feedback xD but it seems to be the only way around to get some xD So I uploaded a song on my channel. It's called "A MEANING OF ITS OWN" I was just wondering if someone can check it out and give me some opinions.
It's a song in process, this is the link
watch?v=RW4DwrW1mfg
(if the link doesn't work for some reason, the song is on my channel)
@bgoodrick i believe you but where did you hear that? i wonder what it would have sounded like with just guitar, vocal and piano. and also, I wonder how it would have sounded in D.
Sad but you can always tell the bands with talent..After you've paid your hard earned money to go see them live!! Thanks for an awesome post of REO!!!
If music is the soundtrack of our lives then I feel bad for the kid's these days having to endure crap like Miley Cyrus, Justin Bieber and just about anything hip-hop related. Music died a slow and painful death after grunge left the scene 15 years ago with nothing new to replace that imagination and creativity. Now we're only left to listen to songs from the past as the airwaves rot the brains of our children with the sounds of Lady Gaga and Fergie. Sad, but true.
@WildBill6942 Pop music is totally dead :-( The music that was made from 1970 to 1999 was the best there was for pop music. Thank goodness for the music collection.

i've been searching far and wide all over my life for this song exclusively with this video. and now i found it! the alternate video sucks! (not the song, just the video) bcz this song is great! it ruled my childhood for a very long time. nearly bringing tears to my eyes.. great memories.

@Pseudofedrina I agree. The other video is so...out there.

One guy is going to say something about Justin Bieber.
One guy is going to relate the song to sex or drugs.
One guy is going to comment about the dislike bar.
And you have that one guy who always asks for thumbs up :L (Thumbwhores -_-)

Understand this and you'll get a big head start.

would have been interesting to see a piano/guitar/vocal only like at 0:50.
this is a hard song to sing--A above middle C, esp when your range is E to G below middle C.

hi everyone,
I hate to bug in here to ask for feedback xD but it seems to be the only way around to get some xD So I uploaded a song on my channel. It's called "A MEANING OF ITS OWN" I was just wondering if someone can check it out and give me some opinions.
It's a song in process, this is the link

The whole song was originally supposed to have drums all the way through, except the drummer walked in late at 2:30. Lol
