i agree with pretty much all of the things you said, however, i never really thought of the dumbledore quote as something to us about reading the books but more as a its ok to imagine and be in your head because all of your thoughts are valid and real. idk but you make a good point.
You really thought this out. I've read the books. I've seen the movies. I've lightly pondered, "Which House would you be in?" But I don't have the depth of knowledge that you have. The books have not affected me as powerfully. That's partly my age. I'm nearly 50. You were reading the books through more important and formative years. In some ways, I envy you.
@RockingJamboree Yeah, I really couldn't have been born at a better time to experience HP. I imagine that all future generations of HP fans will also envy my own. But I've also often thought the same about people who got to experience the music scene of the 60s, and I'm sure every generation has it's exclusive moments.
It makes me (jokingly) angry how verbatim to my thoughts you've articulated your answers. Now even if I did make videos I could never do this set of questions because your answers are engrained in my brain as the perfect way to phrase my thoughts.
That Dumbledore quote is my favorite, too! I was a little sad when people in my theater laughed at it during the movie because it's actually really powerful and not much of a joke, but oh well :)
The Dumbledore quote you mentioned is my favorite quote of the entire series and I particularly enjoyed your justification because I feel the exact same way and felt the same way when I first read it. In a sense it "justifies" the love I have for literature and fiction in general, which started when I first read this series.
Aside from me being in Hufflepuff and my favorite character being Lupin. I pretty much agree with everything you just said. Except the part where Snape is dying and his last words are, "look...at...me", always get's me. Because I can just imagine this part so clearly and think about him looking into Lily's eyes even if they're really Harry's.
I thought for sure you were a Ravenclaw, but Slytherin actually makes a lot of sense...also, didn't think you'd be a fan of potions since with cooking you seem to prefer winging it rather than following recipes and potions is like...super specific, intense recipes. But I can see the making life a game thing come into play. Love both of the quotes you chose.
the thing about snapes memory that made is so great was how it showed harrys parents (and snape as well) as real people with real flaws and various shades of personality. it really show how much people can sometimes be put on pedestals when they die. i always thought that potions would be a great class, BUT care of magical creatures in my opinion is so underrated.
@bonjourelisa I agree that Care of Magical Creatures might be underrated. It's just hard to judge when we never really see it in practical use outside of the class, and Hagrid wasn't the best so the lessons weren't ever all that interesting. Most of the other subjects were shown to have important applications, whereas CoMC and Herbology always seemed like they were only good as things within themselves with not many external/useful applications.
A very excellent video...Possibly due to your excitement about the topic.Or possibly due to your skills increasing in vlogging.
Good point on Snape that he has the most interesting, complex character... I remember after finishing Book 7 being kind of dumbstruck by Snape... And you put it into words why I was feeling what I was!
My favorite quote is "If you want to know what a man's like, take a good look at how he treats his inferiors, not his equals."
Even though this is a minor fact when choosing houses, Ravenclaw has the most freaking awesome common room. Bookshelves, fancy ceiling, tower, sculptures. It's lame that Slytherin gets the dungeon.
@RancidAppleProducts I wouldn't say it's a minor fact. Given the vast amount of time one typically spends in their common rooms, I'd say it's a pretty important factor. However, I feel like the hat is probably looking deeper into personality than just what type of room you would prefer to hang out in.
She's not always trying to impress people with how pretty she is, or showing off her mad skills. She has guys like Victor, and Cormac after her, but she still goes with the guy that she truly loves. Even though he drives her nuts sometimes, AND he can be a bit of a dork, but she loves him none the less :).... Ik, it's a really girly answer, but it's MY answer :)
-Moment: I can't believe you picked the same moment as me!
But If I didn't pick that one, it would probably be the moment when Ron and Hermione kissed (for obvious reasons
-Character: I actually really liked Cedric (but we didn't get to see much from him) I pick Hermione :) ik ik, a LOT of people say her, but I love her, and I can relate to her! I'm nowhere near as into school as she is, but she's genuinely a good person and she's her absolute self all the time.
The only thing I really disagree with you about in this video is what you said about Harry's dad and Snape. I don't think Harry's dad was a total jerk, because it sounds like the only person he was ever really mean to was Snape, and most of the characters express that Snape was just as bad to James as James was to Snape. I think you're right that the chapter where Snape dies really does add dimension to both Snape and Harry's parents, which was extremely powerful.
Well, he cut his hair.

Oh! And after my first reading of the series, Professor McGonagall and Mad-Eye-When-He-Wasn't-Really-Mad-Eye were my favorite characters.
And after being halfway through a second reading, my favorites are Ron and Pig (Of all characters)

Snape kind of works in the books, but he's ridiculously unrealistic. No one would ever stick to a childhood crush for that long.

-House: I'd probably be in Hufflepuff :} Even though everybody has some odd hatred for it :(
-Patronus: I agree, it's a rather hard thing to determine...
-Subject: I think I'd be pretty good at, and enjoy, Charms and Transfiguration :] Although I DO agree with what you said about Potions :)
-Place: Mhmm! Absolutely Hogwarts.
-uhhh "House", again: It tis pretty awesome :)
It's really very said @The-bit-about-Harry.
