I have to disagree with the mechanics of a footfall; when anyone walks barefoot, their foot falls on the middle of the foot, not on the heel. With a thick heel like these, this promotes a "lazy foot" in which the foots muscles that work to transfer the power of a step from midfoot-heel-midfoot (or push off) never get worked out. Without strength in these muscles, any form of foot-travel becomes inefficient.
I love Chaco flip flops. I credit them with a significant portion of the work of healing my now-resolved plantar fasciitis. I can't recommend them highly enough. Worth every penny.
I wear mine every day. May I remind you that it is 30 degrees outside.
