  • @MULESLAX so when u say so then the zerglings should be able to attack with their claws while moving around a thor so a thor would be useless against a single ling

    and then all units should be able to attack while moving?

    marauders also have weapons and could shoot in RL while moving

    a colossus could also do.

    and a dark templar should be able to cloak and chase down an enemy while moving..

    wow ur theory is really good why dont you contact blizzard so they create a starcraft 3 with ur dumb wishes

  • @drkpl8 exactly my point, this game is far too simplistic and behind the times, you can't order you units to go prone, walk, direct suppressive fire. Adjust any sort of details. You just send your units in to be slaughtered and produce more. The most simplistic RTS structure, there's no innovation.

  • Unbalanced of what? at 08.02 zerg could won attaccking terran base (he had only 4 reapers vs 18 zerglings) , but to make the game (or the demostration in this case) more enjoinable he attacks the stone and so he gives another chance to the terran player.

  • I think its best to stick with EA's C&C Line,thier physics engine seems more realistic and practical for some reason,SC 2 seems like the units will still encounter automated-navigational and congestion problems when armies get to a certain size where units are unable to get to thier designated waypoints because of excessive clutter.such chaos creates the need for unecessary micromanagment(extra work).the graphics are obivously more advanced but SC2 still has the same physics engine of SC1

  • Lol C&C has been a ruined game ever since EA took over it's franchise. Let's look at the facts to compare why that was such a stupid comment.

    Blizzard > EA - Blizzard is 3 times the company EA will ever be when it comes to quality.

    SC2 is 10 years in the making.. There's a new C&C every year. RA3 was terrible.. So was the new tiberium wars. Online had many glitches, laggy, and quite unbalanced.

    Any Blizzard game will always be better then anything EA will be able to create.

  • Lol in terms of popularity, balance, pro scene's and on going support to this day for every single one of their games.. Blizzard will ALWAYS be the best PC gaming company with no one to rival them ever. They have the two most popular RTS's ever made under their belt and the most played MMO in the world as well. Not to mention the millions of D1, and D2 fans. EA is shit and will always be shit. They do it for the money.. Blizzard does it cause they love gaming and money.

  • i dont agree. i have been playing C&C since the beginning and it is just unrealistic when it comes to army size. and u talk about congestion with C&C there are so many units that it lags so badly. plus there is more strategy in SC b/c of the unit type quialities. this is a much more well rounded game

  • That's because most of the marines and firebats were at one point criminals, and that's just how criminals are portrayed.

    scvs are civilians working to help the terran cause, while maintaining their citizen status.

  • From what I've seen in both korean and regular games of starcraft micro management is more important in the early stages of a match, when neither sides economy is fully functioning and every unit counts, but as the match progresses it becomes important to be good at macro-managing your base and troops to gain the advantage

    Micro - controlling your army well

    Macro - controlling your base well.

  • Uh... No. Not in the least bit. Micro is managing each individual unit or building [in this game, using powers], macro is when you manage all buildings to make platoons and you set them to hot keys [so selecting a group of units and making them all use their powers, would be macro. It has nothing to do with buildings vs. units and has nothing to do with how well you do it. You can horribly macro or micro, it's still macro or micro.

  • In other words, macro means the managing the big picture and micro means individual unit management.

  • Controlling a group of hydralisks mid battle would be considered micro, just go watch a commentated game. If groups of hydralisks have good positioning and are controlled well the commentator will say "great micro"

  • Micro means small, Macro means large, now stop arguing. When it comes to graphics, Micro details are things like pores and wrinkles while Macro details are things like muscles and other major, large details.

  • It makes perfect sense! I just did it on Supreme Commander! I double click one air factory, thereby selecting them all and I tell all aircraft factories to produce whatever units I chose. For example, 4 selected aircraft factories are told to make 8 Units each totaling 32 units all together. I use a total of 10 mouse clicks instead of 36 [select factories 4 times, click units 32 times[. That's macro.  It makes perfect sense to me, so maybe you might want to reevaluate your shit.

  • Another example is when you loop production. I do that a lot in Warzone 2100 and Earth 2150. I'm not showing off. I'm simply stating that Star craft isn't the only RTS in the universe and it just so happens that Micro and Macro apply to more games than just one!  Besides, I can probably multi-select factories in star craft to tell them to mass units. Your definitions were wrong and it'd be in your best interest to accept the mere fact that you do not know what you are talking about.

  • Starcraft 2 will have MBS (Multiple Building Selectoin) and auto-mining (rally pointing to minerals) macro will be much easier.

    in starcraft 1, a good player controlling 4 marines can kill 6 zealots just by out playing the opponent.

    most games arent won by mass, most are won by the tiny battles, small groups vs small groups

  • Hellion = Vulture + Firebat. There's your Firebat (and, also, Vulture, I suppose).

  • You sir, are an idiot. Firebats have not been "replaced" by either of those units. The new Firebat is called a Hellion, which is a ground unit with a splash damage flame thrower.

  • true. however the helion is a completely diffrent unit (with the exception that it's armament is a flamethrower) helion is vehicle,it's faster,it has splash damage and.........something else i forgot T_T

  • technically the firebat was replaced by the reaver as far as im aware, really though you could make an argument either way, reaver and hellion could both be good for light melee units. i think the reaver is a closer equivalent because they are infantry, they just didnt want to lose the CQ firebat att.

  • For anyone who might know: in the original Starcraft, the grid system was based on diagonal squares, not perpendicular ones. So in Starcraft II, will they still have the diagnonal-based grid system, or will it be like Warcraft III and be perpendicular squares?

  • yo, the Firebat is, more or less, making a reappearance in the Hellion, which is, pretty much, a cross between a Vulture and a Firebat (a light, fast buggy with a flamethrower).

  • Ya, I know what you mean. The Hellion might give off somewhat of an impression that it is like a pansy version of a Vulture, but, personally, I think its a great idea to cross the two units together...Its basically a fast, lightly armored flamethrower. Battle Report 1 features the Hellion fairly predominantly.

  • I am so dying to play this game. I would play it in it's current state and just let the upcoming patches fix any balance problems (like the original SC, which was far from balanced for the first 2-3 years). I think Blizzard are over-worried about playtesting before release.
