2: The gay marriage is all too simple. Holy matrimony is religious and can be denied based on religion(big freakin deal). MARRIAGE is not religious. It is merely a "Licensed Contract" offered by the government. The government can NOT deny a citizen a license based on sexual orientation or gender, hence marriage must be allowed to ALL citizens.

Den, heres my opinion.i dont care if gays are allowed to get married or not.What I care is gays have the same equal rights as others, couples/partner wise. And it frustrates me that we have to ask permissions from straight people to get marrried. Are the straights superior to the gays? and here i thought we are equals.

I think anything the deals with sexuality is hard for people to get. What gets to me is why is it people can accept difference in hair colour, eye colour, height, weight, nose size, shoe size...pretty much anything that makes each of us unique....except sexuality? That blows me away that that one thing must remain strickly one way without variation. Why??? They can't accept the different shades of their own sexuality let alone anyone elses. It remains sad and unfair.

The problem with civil unions is that the laws providing protections, tax breaks, etc. all use the word MARRIAGE. Something else that is sold as "the same" it never will be, because the laws that use the word marriage will not be changed.

Personally, I think laws citing marriage have been used as a means to discriminate against homosexuals.

Here in Canada - even with the Gay Marriage Laws in place - The same people are looking for a fight at every chance they get to try to get rid of Gay Marriages. But so far it seems to make the wording and principles of the new laws stronger. We have a few cases of Straight people Marring the same sex for the Tax Breaks:)
