Did you try using a synth voice as the lead instrument? This sounds like a choir aah. My instinct is that the synth voice would sound closer to the original than a choir aah, but I could be wrong.

I was going to leave it as merely Oodsong, because nothing else in Planet of the Ood really inspired me at the time. I could do the claw chase scene and a couple of other bits if you like, but I can't remember how they went, and it's no longer on iPlayer... I'll have to hunt around a bit, or wait for repeats or something.
