I've been at this guys farm to buy show pigs. My family shows and for those complaining about all the cuts in their ears and crap, it could be from many things. Pigs get ear notched when they are first born for identity and they can't feel shit because their ears are only tissue. Same way with their tails. And they other cuts, you have no idea what happened so don't assume.

This pig farm is in North Las Vegas where I live, it's about 5 miles from my house. What sucks is that around the afternoon, you can literally smell the pigs and poop. They have offered the farmers millions of dollars to relocate but, they wont give in. =]

Yes, I have, but have you seen how you put ear tags on pigs ears? It is even more painfull than cutting holes on their ears. And they do put ear tags on their ears when they are about 3 months old. I if it would depend on me I would never do that to the pigs or any other animals because it is simply just cruel. But I just do what I've been told to, even I don't like it because I am not in charge...
And for those who complain about "how cruel it is to carry the pigs outside"... The other option to get them on move is simply get the pig out of the cage and then hit it with a stick to get it move. In my opinion carrying is a way more better way to move them than chase them with a stick... But it is just my opinion.
When you pierce your ears it goes through the corner of your ear, so it does not hurt. When they pierce pigs or cows ears they force the tag to go through the center of the ear, where the skin is much thicker.
That's so it doesn't come out, everything has to be double tagged in the UK just in case. plastic tag in one ear and metal in the other and then maybe a third radio tag also depending on the system being used and don't forget the paperwork that has to be submitted to animal movements and defra!

I don't think your naive. Most farms like this are for meat. A person might be able to show them if they wanted. Most hog farms are humane because the better they treat their pigs, the better the pig grows and the more money they make. And pigs squeal when they get nervous so yes it wants to be put down... like a child throwing a tantrum basically. Pigs can squeal at up to 90 decibels so those squeals are even that loud for them. I find pigs in general to be one of the cutest animals aside from elephants. Even the scary pigs with horns that I have seen and heard before. I was scared shitless because I heard they can attack you if they are with babies. I was once walking my dogs in a park in the dark without leashes, and I heard those pigs. My dogs ran all the way back home by themselves it was dangerous.

No they have not. Those markings on their ears are made by humans. They are done when those pigs are 1 day old. Those markings are pig's "number".

Yes, I have, but have you seen how you put ear tags on pigs ears? It is even more painfull than cutting holes on their ears. And they do put ear tags on their ears when they are about 3 months old. I if it would depend on me I would never do that to the pigs or any other animals because it is simply just cruel. But I just do what I've been told to, even I don't like it because I am not in charge...

And for those who complain about "how cruel it is to carry the pigs outside"... The other option to get them on move is simply get the pig out of the cage and then hit it with a stick to get it move. In my opinion carrying is a way more better way to move them than chase them with a stick... But it is just my opinion.

When you pierce your ears it goes through the corner of your ear, so it does not hurt. When they pierce pigs or cows ears they force the tag to go through the center of the ear, where the skin is much thicker.

That's so it doesn't come out, everything has to be double tagged in the UK just in case. plastic tag in one ear and metal in the other and then maybe a third radio tag also depending on the system being used and don't forget the paperwork that has to be submitted to animal movements and defra!

Look, I work on a pig farm and I can assure you that pig scream almost about everything. It sounds terrible but it is not that they are hurt: they are just afraid. Carrying them like that is not painful, they just simply don't like that, that's why they scream. Pigs scream also then when you try just pat their heads or just simply touch them. =)

@Bigblue091 Yes they did have the body language of being abused. The so called farmers have mutilated them without pain medicine. Did you see all of the cuts in their ears? If you cut a dogs' ear you'll get an animal cruelty charge (which is how it should be), but mutilating a pig (which is smarter than a dog) is legalized cruelty without prosecution.

Look, I think all animals should be killed as quickly and painlessly as possible but don't tell me what I can and can't eat. People aren't meant to eat meat everyday with every meal but don't bet anything on the meat industry going anywhere anytime soon. You want to start a campaign against mice breeding for pet snakes? Or let's start getting monkey's (our ancestors) to eat tofu instead of that random critter they eat every now and then? No one is stopping me from eating chicken.

As a group our DNA is closer 2 each other than any other living thing. However the difference between Humans and DNA in any living creature is surprisingly small. We share approx. 66% of our genes with bacteria. So quoting a # like yours to prove humans and pigs are closely related means absolutely NOTHING, besides being wrong as well.

I don't think your naive. Most farms like this are for meat. A person might be able to show them if they wanted. Most hog farms are humane because the better they treat their pigs, the better the pig grows and the more money they make. And pigs squeal when they get nervous so yes it wants to be put down... like a child throwing a tantrum basically. Pigs can squeal at up to 90 decibels so those squeals are even that loud for them. I find pigs in general to be one of the cutest animals aside from elephants. Even the scary pigs with horns that I have seen and heard before. I was scared shitless because I heard they can attack you if they are with babies. I was once walking my dogs in a park in the dark without leashes, and I heard those pigs. My dogs ran all the way back home by themselves it was dangerous.
