The theremin sounds are awesome with this.

  • That's amazing.

  • If the NORMAL song makes me cry... guess how I am now!

  • No, but the jerk store called....

  • This was so beautiful. It literally brought tears to my eyes. I think Requium For A Dream would sound amazing on this!

  • i <3 this sooo much... i cant wait to start learning the theremin!!

  • oh my god... amazing O_O

  • Godlike.

  • Man, you're my idol!

Would you make a cover of The girl of Ipanema

  • Good work!

  • sounds like the most beautiful singing voice!

  • fantastic!

  • Ahh! I love this song!

I really wanna try to play a theremin.... It looks difficult, but fun to mess around with.

    Good job. =]]

  • Да...Это еще уметь так надо. :) Super!!!

  • :) !!!!!!!!!!!

    bravo

  • Great but I dont understand how this instrument works? or what it is?

  • check it out on wikipedia, the instrument is called a theremin:P

  • also sometimes called a heiliograph. its mostly radio waves.

  • It works by detecting the distance of his left and right hands from the antennae. The left controls volume and the right pitch.

It was meant to be roughly the same as conducting an orchestra. But it looks more like he is having a fit. :)

  • if you have ears you should know.

  • metsesell, that is simply a matter of opinion. I actually consider the theremin to be one of the most versatile and potentially beautiful of all instruments. It gave the creepy sound to 1950's horror movies, but then can be used to beautiful effect here. When it's played like this, it sounds like a more haunting version of the human voice. Being a big fan of Yann Tiersen's work on "Amelie", I think this actually enhances the beauty of the score.

  • The advent of the violin or the guitar would have been frowned upon by the critics of that time. It's the sole dedication of great musicians that take instruments to the highest level, experiment with it, feel and live it, so that a new sound will come to life and enhance music even more.

How can you tell this instrument is not working in its context by not trying? Heck, you might just create something awesome, and Randy just proved that.

  • More Yann Theremin music!

  • I wish I sounded like a theremin =S

  • que fregados es eso?

  • h-h-HOWS?? D: !!

  • you're the man..!

  • Thanks Yann Tiersen

  • so beautiful!

  • incredible!!

  • amazing~

it sounds like someone is singing the piece~ :3

  • wow.. the only part of his body that Moves is his hands.. What a concentration...

  • The rhythm isn't 4/4 or 3/4, its 6/8.

  • I concur with naixoa. that be 6/8

  • BEAUTIFULL

  • great job

  • oh, how i simply adore this song. yann is amazing.

and i really love your rendition with the theremin. please post more vids.

  • are you joking? this is a real instrument! :]

  • lol dude like D3ADKENNEDY say .. that instrument is real !!!

  • you fail hard

  • dude theremins have been out for many years there just not popular as you can tell. You can pay like $80 to get a book on how to make one are just buy one for up to $300. The rod (far side) controlls the note the closer the louder, the loop (close side) controlls the voulme inside quiter, it is quite amazing if ido say so my self

  • omfg, you epic fail bartreng...

  • i was just trying to be funny.. but it seems like you cannot even joke about theremins nowadays... i didnt know bout theremins before watching this video but it doesnt mean i dont value theremin players, i actually think its quite cool and impressive what guys like randy george can do

  • Oh, well....I'm sorry, Bartreng.  ;_;

  • which hand does what?

  • right is the pitch and left is the volume i guess you could say

  • i want a theremin now. that was amazing, great job. :)

  • I've been wanting to build a Theremin for so long. Hopefully soon... well done!!

  • The sound reminds me of Benny and Joon, where Sam plays the song using the Balloon. Now thinking on it though, it is probly very likely that they used the theremin to do that...

  • To the haters, I'd like to add that, even though the theremin obviously doesn't sound like a piano, it goes very well with it.

I think the theremin sounds like a voice.

  • Yes! Someone who can do more than just play notes off a sheet. This is exceptional. :)

  • Wow that was awesome!! I love that song and the movie is just great! it makes me want to cry...

  • wow what`s that?

  • WOW O:

  • sounds really nice :)

  • well, after watching that i'm claiming you as a relative. my last name is George as well...and that song was pretty great man.

  • The piano drowns it out.

  • definetly one of the best things on the theremin i've heard. You are getting pretty close to clara rockmore.

    if not better.

  • Wuuah ich vereck das iscg eifach zu geil. Yann Tiersen lieb ich und Theremin au ich Wein ja fast zu guet

  • Theremins make more of a humming noise not the sounds of a piano >.>

  • one of my favorite yann tiersen songs =D

theramine sounds so haunting i like it. wheres a good place to go about getting one?

  • the best brand is moog i think... i got a t-shirt with mine but i cant find it so its something like that.

  • Simply amazing the Theremin alone made me want to get one so bad, you my friend make me want to master it as you have

  • that was godley

  • Fantastic... So beautiful... That's the best use I've ever seen of the Theremin... Léon Theremin would be proud about this! :)

  • you rox!

  • Hey dude! Do u live in toronto?? If so, do you teach lessons? Awesome music man!!

    peace, Cam

  • C'est vraiment magnifique... J'en avais les larmes aux yeux T.T

  • Absolutely amazing!

  • no way. No, no, this is too good.

  • Wow, is very beautiful song, in theremin is very god........AWESOME!

  • you are working on a classical theremin album, correct?

if so, when will it be done? and how may i purchase it?

  • Beautiful, I don't think I've ever heard a theremin sound better, either.

Trying to learn this song now :P

    Keep on playing!

  • Seem like an Air bass

  • thats the best ive ever heard this instrument sound :-) *****

  • You were obviously born to champion this instrument. You play better than anyone I've heard.

  • it is the most beautiful noise ive ever heard

  • omfg. dude, you're awesome. you play the most awesome songs on theremin!

i freaking love you and theremin. please keep playing and posting. the theremin is now one of my favorite instruments, thanks to you. :)

  • Wow. That is a very strange instrument. But it has a beautiful sound if you play it right, and that was gorgeous! :)

  • I am eventually buying one... I love musical instrument oddities(if this is even considered odd?) This is something that when you truly master it, you can make the most beautiful music.

  • Its a theremin and it works with magnetic waves. Its difficult to play. A guitar has strings and frets but the theremin has nothin^^ I think the theremin was the first synthesizer...

  • what is that? :S

  • that instrument looks hard.

    is it?

  • very that's why there's isn't a lot of ppl playing it lol

  • You are awesome!!

    :)))))))

  • Absolutely gorgeous! Your intonation is perfect. You've gone beyond the novelty factor and have brought it back to its originally intended status as a serious instrument. I hope you keep putting yourself out there because I have to believe that sooner or later you will create a career path for yourself (and others).

  • I'm buying a theremin after seeing this video. I think it is a beautiful sounding instrument.

  • The ring controls volume and the antenna controls pitch

  • wow! how the hell does that work? what are you touching?

  • I think he's touching air and magnetic waves...

  • dunno why you got voted down, you're right...

  • great job...

  • What's that thing in your ear, Randy? Does that make you play better?
