  • my car makes the exact same noise lol

  • time to go for dual cam.

  • Well just got my car back from my mechanic, as most said it was the tensioner pulley bearing. Thanks all for your help!

  • And how much did it cost you? Cuz i've got the same problem

  • The part was about $100 plus labor, maybe $150 total.

  • wow No 1 said the same shit so no 1 knows lol I would take it to a mechanic that knows hondas and ask him but it does sound like the steering pump. good luck

  • Mine was in a flood and kinda made the same noise.. i changed the oil a bunch of times and dried everything out but it spun a rod a few nites ago.. lets hope yours isnt the same story

  • try some belt dressing - 4.99 at Canadian Tire. Check your power steering fluid - bet when you turn the wheel it gets noisier?

  • sounds like a bad power steering pump and ur timing tensioner hondas get noisey when u dont take care of them that and the water pump gets noisy too add fluid to the power steering resevor and start it up and turn the wheel and check fluid to see if u need to add any more till that noise gets quite process of elimination you cant just throw parts at a car thats a bad thing to do ive got a bult b16 with a gt35r that runs tens have fun... :)

  • Es el rol de la bomba Hidraulica!

  • hey try this take out the alternator belt then turn it on, if the noise dissapear it can be the alternator or the pulley that goes down across d alternator .dont leave it on no more than 5 minutes

  • that could be the timing belt vibrating

  • thats the starter

  • dude hydrolocked means that u got water in ur engine and when the piston comes up on its compression stroke(both valves are closed) and the water doesnt compress(liquid doesnt compress) and it bends the fuck out of ur valves. u may have had some water in the intake or something, but 90% of the time when u get water in ur motor it will get hyrdro locked with means new valves at the least.

  • Im sure it would bend the valves too, but really it bends the connecting rods or sometimes twists the crankshaft; then the engine wont turn at all; hence hydroLOCK. His engine wouldn't be running now if it did hydrolock, he was probably smart and pulled the plugs and such first before trying to start it. I agree with buggie, all I hear is you're low on powersteering fluid.

  • check ur camsaft berings or ur whole top end dude that sound really bad its not ur bottom en it would just knock bro

  • alright a few guys have this right, i fix fucking handas all day and day. timing belt dum dum u put it on backwards. before you take this shit apart you must mark witch way it spun dork........

  • yes, i was about to say one of ur accessory belts or ur timing belt, because a motor doesnt make that noise.

  • yeah eso es tu power pump o komo dice el otro komentario esta muy apretada la banda de tiempo chekala si esta es todo lo ke puede ser

  • check all tensional bearing maybe heavy tight

  • its your power steering pump my bro had the same problem on his h22 prelude.

  • power stereing pump...

  • i have an 89 honda 16 valve engine. and i just had my time belt replaced what can this be is the belt to tight?

  • this sound is bomb direccion!!!

  • TIMING BELT IS WAY TOO TIGHT

  • I have that same noise on my car too. I just bought my car and noticed in the receipts i have for repair that the t-belt had just been changed, On my other car, "I" did my t-belt and had it to tight and it made that noise, i loosened it up and the noise went away. Has your t-belt be replaced lately?

  • check your giggiling pin

  • check ur blinker fluid

  • fucking lolz

  • ahhahahah this guy bought the $100 oil cap before the spark plug wires LOL.

CHECK ALL UR FLUIDS!! probably no oil in the sucker either u ricer. Defently either the alternator or p/s fuild low, but the car sounds like it might need some OIL too.... stop down shifting high rpms it makes ur rice burner burn OIL big time!!!

  • its either the power steering pump (maybe low on oil) or the alternator dude...

  • yeah id say its your powersteering pump too... Fords always sound like that when the powersteering fluid is low.

  • it sounds like ur wearing sumthing in your motor or it coud be the power stering and check the alnator or ur ac compresserikd sory if that dident help

  • Roulements d'alternateur, galet tendeur, pompe a eau, enlève une a une tes courroies d'accessoires pour voir si ça vient de là.

  • timing belt

  • is ur timing belt is too tight losing up ur belt alitter it will fixed the noise.

  • take out the cam caps and change them and then lube the cam and the install the belt with alil tesion and the noise will stop

  • its probably a bering

  • sounds like you should check the sensors on your intake. try changing them. thats an idea. holla back let me know what the prob was. i have got a d16z6 and is curious what the prob might be just incase it happens to me.

  • it sounds like a pully or timing belt might need to be checked

  • what kind of headers do u got

  • timing belt

  • its your imaginary supercharger... xD

  • lol thats the hungry hampster in the block... just kiddin i love hondas... but it does sound like the tensioner bering

  • es algun balero, lubricalos todos por fuera y veras que cambia el sonido

  • i have two guess timing belt to tight or its the water pump bearing.

  • hondahatesford said it ur timing belt is to tight

  • its eather your power steering pump is bad or your timeing belt tentioner bering is shot. i cant realy tell cose im hearing 2 sounds

  • this is perfectly normal for a honda

  • this sound is bomb direccion

  • timimg belt to tight

  • my civic has the same noise but only on first gear

  • bad bearing due to water

  • es una banda yo tengo uno igual 98 y hacia el mismo ruido, es una banda, te recomiendo cambiarle las tres :)

  • dude i have a 03 civic ex and its making the same noise wtf..

  • could be your pulleys!!!!!

  • check your power steering fluid dude

  • Seriously though it sounds like your airflow meter

  • oh shoot i know what the problem is my car did the same thing its the blue hoses they need to be red..yea uh huh

  • it seems like power steering dude.

  • pull your belts off one at a time if its still doing it than its gonna be your water pump bearing bad

  • yes it is a bearing problem or maybe it can be the steering system

  • Thanks for all your comments- I have yet to get into the shop, but it's been also 5 months and still running strong.

I'll post back when I get an answer from my mechanic.

  • Ive never heard that from a honda ive had all street racers that have taken abuse 91 93 and now same as yours ek model but soch vtec and never heard that id say RUN IT OUT ITS A HONDA IT WILL LIVE LONGER THEN YOU

  • you to add power steering fluid.

  • um you fix it yet ?

  • sounds like the timing belt is too tight u gna mess up the water pump

  • it's vtec broke.

  • its the alt. man my 94 civic ex does the same and its the alt. bearings

  • There is nothng wrong with it its a Honda it will live longer then you get over it ha ha

  • sounds to me like power steering pump.... from experience...

  • That is going to be aproblem with your oil pump or AC compressor if it is still hooked up I had the same problem.

  • mine does the EXACT same thing dude mines the alt...yep sounds just like a supercharger pretty much. good luck with ur car man good to know im not the only one with that problemo

  • man, sounds sad... hope my d16y8 would never get that noise.. all the best with the solving the problem

I never heard that kind of noise even when starting the engine in -10 degrees celsius...

  • bearings

  • you might need to add power steering fluid

  • power steering pump

  • been in the same situation....

soon one of the piston will shoot out of the block

  • It´s just a ball ring, try principal, and maby must be the air condiccion. It´s common on American cars maybe it´s the same

  • look for the guy who posted this video i no wat it is is right wat sum people said its sumthing with a wheel check ur a.c. compressor because i had my 00 civic ex d16y8 motor do that check the a.c. compressor the wheel and the barings in the wheel and change the belt while u at it trust me

  • I think it's "shpaner" (i cant say on English). It is the wheel on a belt. or maybe alternator (charger for Battery).

Post comment when you fix it.

  • There's nothing wrong with the car. I gotta agree with HONDAZCBEATER there, it's the pump to ur PS. Its normal for it to sound like that on a cold startup.

If your power steering is still functional, there's nothing to worry about.

  • its just your power steering pump!!!

  • have you checked the cam?

    or the compressor pump?

  • probly just a build up of dirt somewhere get a spray bottle of water and hit a few times it should go away

  • no it wont

  • haha its electric!

  • sounds like my fork lift!!

  • Did you fixed it yet? Most autostores have free inspections.... you should get it check if you hadn't yet.

  • I have narrowed the sound to the AC belt tensioner as nightequalizer suggested. I carefully sprayed with some WD and the noise went away for a few days, but now is back.

Will get it over to my mechanic when I get time.

    Thanks for your help

  • its your AC belt tentioner, try taking off your AC belt if the sounds goes away the Tentioner bearing is worn try.. It the same noise my civic had : )

  • Thanks for the RE: I was thinking it was either that of the AC compressor clutch. I'll check it out
