she is working so hard, the things we women do for our children!!! I found a box turtle digging a nest near my veggie garden and I was so excited, in 3 months her eggs will hatch and like you I will watch but allow the wee ones to remain wild and free.
I have a box turtle in my veggie garden building a nest, I want to help her but I do not know if she will lay her eggs and walk away or will she stay to watch over the eggs, what did this one do??? I live in coastal North Carolina and we are very dry this spring, thank you for anything you can share.
hey my turtle laid 3 eggs last week but last time she laid eggs i didnt knew and the babys got out of the eggs and left the garden jaja and i didnt even knew..so now she laid eggs again, so i wanted to know how much time does it take for the turtles to get out of the eggs?
That;s so cool to watch them lay eggs!It's amazing what a precise hole they can dig with just their back feet!!Keep an eye out for the babies because birds will get them!! :-)
She laid three eggs(one before we were able to get the camera). There is a small video of the turtles hatching.(726KAS). All three made it out OK. We kept them in a box for a few days and got to love them. Then we set them free in the woods behind our house. We were amazed at our luck to see such a thing.
interesting but u need to learn how to focus a camera

@Tyran508
This turtle laid her eggs right in our suburban backyard. She dug away the mulch and the dirt in a shady spot of the garden.

What a nice thing for you to do -- make sure the hatchings were safe, and then set them free. Good job.

@11wormbig
I have never seen them again and I like to think that they are off living in the woods!
