  • I noticed your horse keeps his front legs straight during the sliding stop. If you want a perfected sliding stop, your horse must use his front legs as if they were trotting. The back legs slide and the front legs keep the slide going. Just a little tip :)

  • bubbayum11-the sliding plates are helpful but you can create more of a slide on this horse by simply laying your weight in the stop.... the dirt you are on also makes a difference, if she were in sand the horse would have gotten a couple more feet.... also Cassa-great start just sit the stop harder and youll get more. my palomino is able to get a good 15 foot slide without the sliders just from pushing your weight down hard on them and i am only 120pounds.... =]

  • Umm hello, sliders on the back feet are very important! You can burn out his back pasterns and hocks if not!

  • wow your horse spins and stops soooooo great! keep it up! :D

  • wow nice :)

  • Ya, He'll need sliders to do a half decent stop.

  • Does your horse have sliding plates (sliders) on his back hoofs? Once you have him so hes trying to stop (there will probably by a 1-3 foot mark from it) then he'll need sliders or he wont be able to do much more.

  • @Cassafrass1234 Your horse can slide farther than 1-3 feet without sliders. My heel horse can slide 10-15 feet easily without sliders.

  • @SkiArmada11 sliding without sliders can burn their hocks.... same as sliding without skid boots

  • @savannah4069 Would Burn the fetlock and pastern not there hock. I'm heeling so my horse doens't suck his ass under him like a reiner would. ... He has sliders on now anyway so he wont have loads of pressure on his hocks when he his stopping hard with a steer on the other end.

  • @SkiArmada11 yea sorry i meant fetlock lol

  • your horse is amazing! Sunny can do that too but her spins arn't as fast lol

  • your really good!! how old are you in the vid?

  • Thanks :) I was 15 in the video.

  • hahaha i love how they are in a competitive realationship lol if my bf used youtube he would be the same but he is kick ass at riding

  • What do you mean?

  • you and youre horse are very good^^

  • WOW YOUR RELLY GOOD

  • Thanks

  • how did you teach your horse to do spin and come to a sliding stop? haha....i have a QH and she can't do either well. is it something they are born with?

  • No its not something they're born with. Some of it has to do with the way they're built but QH's are the most popular horses for reining. Its mostly just about training. It takes a minimum of 9 months to train a reining horse. Pretty much all horses can learn it, its just a matter of how well they'll be able to do it. Also, they wear shoes called sliding plates on their back hoofs so they slide farther.

  • baby this is your boyfriend here and that was the gayest thing i must have ever seen you gotta move on to something better like...like paintball :P i mean who the hell want to spin around in circles when you can be taking peoples faces offf hah anyways it was alright im totally better than you though you know it

  • You're so full of it, you know I could kick your ass any day any time. And I'll light you up in paintball to :P

  • nice horse!!!! her spins are fantastic, very correct and her stop was really great!!!

  • nice job! I luv ur horse

  • that's nice, but why do you click so much.. your horse doesn't react on it...

  • She'll slow if you don't keep clucking. Spins and roll backs were always her weak point by far.

  • Great sliding stop!

  • Thanks

  • Great job.

    5*

  • does anyone know when to put sliding plates on a young horse for the 1st time?

  • I know only how to learn horse spins bridleless...

  • At the reining barn I rode at the trainers put them on as soon as they had them sliding about 1-2 feet without sliding plates. Once they understood and were trying to slide is when they would get sliding plates.

  • you wanna put put sliders on a young horse once they are able to slide and tuck there but under when you ask them to stop.

  • You're amazing!!! That is just so awesome. Well done!

  • Thank you!

  • oh my god! it's absolutely amazing... you are good!!!

  • Aww, thank you :)

  • My pleasure horse got injured pretty badly just recently and my friend has a reiner that he offered me to ride but he told me that if I'm going to ride his horse that I'd have to learn how to ride a reiner. It's so much fun!!! I'm learning the sliding stops and spins and stuff. I don't know why I didn't try it before!

  • Awesome, well good luck with it. Have fun, although its kind of hard not to ;)

  • wow!! great job!!! she looks very responsive! do you compete?

  • Thank you! Yes we compete. This year we won 2 class titles in the association we compete in and we were 9th in the world for the LTD. Non Pro class! There was only 2 times that we didn't place all year. both were my fault because I misscounted my spins but the scores would have put us in 1st place both times.

  • wow! thats great! i just show at county fairs and stuff! im excited because i'm doing the reining freestyle class this year, but we're not doing any moves as good as that! good luck at future shows!

  • omg that awesome

ive been trying to teach my horse to spin and slide but im not having any luck

    got any tips?

  • For spinning make sure you're not trying to get to much out of your horse at once. pull firmly with the reins in the direction you want to spin. You'll have to figure out the right amount of pressure for your particular horse. You want to have enough pressure to put them on their hocks without backing up and press their side with the outside leg.

  • THAT"S AWESOME!

  • love the large riding ring oh and your horse is nice too

  • Wow! Very, very nice job! Your horse is so obedient!

    Wow! :))

  • Thank you!

  • good job! what king of horse?looks like either a QH or a mustang

  • Thanks :), yep shes a QH.

  • Thank you :)

  • if you hate reining so much why do you keep commenting on reining videos!!

  • Hun, I've already said many times that was my cousin, not me. Get over it.

  • lol. no you didnt o.O

  • Yes, I did. Not on this video.

  • woa thats nice

  • haha, thanks.

  • woww !

    look at that spin

  • ...Then you say whoa, take your legs off a bit and pick up on the reins a bit. You'll have to work with the horse to find the right balance of how much rein to use and it takes a little while to get the timing right.

  • A sliding stop is something that should deffinatly be taught to a horse by a professional and something that you should learn under the guidance of a trainer as well. Basically, you lope the horse down the arena building speed as you go. You want to gallop about 3 strides right before you stop and you want to have no contact with the bit at all for those strides...

  • Im getting a horse.. How do you do a sliding stop?

  • Nice job. I bet she's a really nice mare now since it's been a year.

  • Yep, This year we competed 26 times in CCRHA and she placed 24 times (and the 2 times she didn't was because I misscounted the spins. Our score would have gotten us 1st place both times if I haden't gotten DQ'ed)

  • nice riding love yr horse

  • Thanks! That was a year ago, shes quite a bit better now.
