If you notice other videos of Dino, he actually can fly. I have a conure, and trust me, you cannot force a bird to lay on its back like that- he trusts his person and is obviously well treted and socialized.
If the bird wanted to do the "trick" he would not be trying to hide his tail from the owner. Also when the man is holding the bird upside down the parrot immediately puts his bill and other foot on his hand, this is how a parrot attempts to stand himself upright in an upside down position. All this is is someone forcing a parrot to do something against it's will and anyone that knows anything about parrots and their body language would agree.
the parrot trust the guy who plays with him ... otherwise he wouldn't tolerate all that and would show some clear/painfull reactions if otherwise. on the otherhand ... a wrong reaction when u take him on the tail feathers and it can end badly for the parrot. i wouldn't do that with my parrot.
the bird didnt wanna do tricks but yet this guy still insisted putting the bird in danger... if i was the animal police that bird would be placed in a safe home.
for all the people who think the bird is in pain. i cant force my cockatiel to do something she doesnt want to nd thts just a cockatiel with its teeny tiny beak nd cute little nails let alone a macaw so if the bird had any objections the guy would be missing a finger or two by now
LOL @ people thinking it's dog.. you can't force a parrot this thing will cut your Finger.. it clearly liked his master and what his master was doing with him.
You retard! the macaw obviously didnt want to be touched or twisted around. you can notice that on the begining wen it tries to bite the owner or watever that guy is. the only thing i have to say, is that u should respect animals a little more and dont force them to do anything against their will!
@lilayvioleta1 If it didn't like what he was doing, he would either bite really hard, fly away, or struggle to break free. You can't assume that guy abuses birds because they trust him enough to do this.
Retards that are saying this is abuse is retarded. The Macaw's beak, the goddamn beak will rip your fingers off and could possibly drill through your arm and of course take the man's eyes out as well as rip the ears. If this bird was abused the man would be dead by now, and this trick is a trick used by all bird owners and shows that the bird trusts the owner. If your bird can do this, you're bloody lucky, the bird trusts you!
I suggest all you people that are saying that this macaw is scared, i suggest you try and put your hands near an ACTUALLY scared macaw and see how far you get. my brother had a military that bit my arm 'lightly' once and i had a bruise for 2 weeks. And yes, it was my fault. I had already known that Ceasar didnt like women.
I've done this with a 3 lb harris hawk didnt pick her up by the tail feathers though. If i tried anything remotely near this our Red Tailed Hawk i worked with i would have lost some fingers and maybe an eye .-)
I don't think these other people understand. These birds can and will break your fingers with their beaks. The bird obviously trusts his owner not to hurt him, otherwise he'd either bite, scratch, or try to fly away.
@SarahRabbit1 the people that are disliking because they think that it is wrong, are people that obviously never had a bird before! @andy7666 wrong, budgies 8-12 years cockatiels 15-25 and as TheMuffinBurgler said, theyre parrots. most large macaws live to 80, greys live to around 60 as well as parrots around that size such as smaller macaws. some macaws (i dont remember which kind) are know to live well past 100-120. but the main well known lifespan for a macaw like this is 60-70-80.

The bleeding hearts probably have never seen an angry Arara, or Macaw. When they are slightly frustrated they just poop on your face - it doesn't matter if it's the owner or a little baby.
Wow, the bird really trusts you. But I'm still a little afraid you're moving a little too fast for the poor boy. He doesn't show discomfort, but can't help believing it makes him a little uneasy when you move fast like that
@Martin53915 Here in Brasil we just call them araras, but these, from Macau, are really big. Believe me: they LOVE these fast moves. I know one, Yara, one of these macaus that stay in restaurants, that loves throwing herself dawn and hang from a thin chain attached to her cage. The little devil cries as if the world is ending. When you run to help, she flips to the top of the cage in the blink of an eye and imitates a human laugh!
I'm not making this up - and nobody taught her to do it!
@balanblonde2 Yes I've seen that too. But it's different when it does it intentionally. It can't read the mind of the human. I know it trusts the human. But it is safer when the human is doing slow moves so the parrot can make it to read what the human is doing. And there's another thing. When he grabs it in its tail. Even a tame bird wouldn't like having somebody pull its tail like that, it could tear the feathers. Maybe it trusts the human, but I can't see that as something it enjoys.
I've been a bird owner for over a decade. I've had experience with macaws, both passive and aggressive, and I can tell you this: no matter what the situation, if the macaw is in pain, it WILL make it's discomfort noticed. It will flap it's wings rapidly in aggravation, it will bite (usually HARD), it will shriek and writhe and cause all hell to break loose. This little guy? He's FINE.
I volunteer for a bird rescue and sanctuary and trust me, this is NOT abuse. I have marks and scars up and down my arms that are a testament to the fact that if a bird doesn't like what you are doing THEY WILL BITE THE S*** OUT OF YOU! A blue and gold macaw like the one in the video and the 3 I have at home can produce around 200lbs of biting pressure. They can break Brazil nuts like we break peanuts!
Agreed. I have a 13 year old Umbrella Cockatoo who will let me put her on her back like this. But it takes years...and TONS of trust for them to allow you to do that. A bird on its back is in a completely vulnerable position. They WILL NOT just let anyone do it. They HAVE to trust you. And if they dont, they can break your finger no problem.
@PixieStew but then tell me why i could hold a blue and gold macaw like this when i was on lanzarote... it was in a show and they walked around letting us hold them when they took a picture... I've never seen this bird before and it just laid on it's back in every mans/women's hand.
He's been trained. I'm sure it took years for them to get him to do that. But then hey...maybe he was just that much of a laid back bird. They all have their personalities. But in my experience, with my own bird and others I've worked with, they won't do this for just anyone. Of course there are exceptions and it sounds like you met one.
If the bird was being hurt, that guy would probably be getting chewed up and cut by that macaw, That is a huge big, and he could pack a lot of damage. When birds feel threatened they WILL BITE! That isn't abuse, it is true trust.
how cute! my bird would always give me the "WTF- u mad" look when i laid him on his back, he'd roll back over and demand lots of head petting.
i bet those that are whining about this have never even owned a bird. if a bird doesn't want to do something, it will definitely make it clear, it will kick ass and ask questions later.
@jerrysenegalparrot you have to notice the way he grabs it though. he grips onto the area where the roots and bones are so he doesnt yank feathers out. like when a parent lifts up a kid by the armpits instead of by their wrists. its not abuse, and these kinds of tricks need tons of trust to accomplish. its not abuse. but im sorry if you feel that way and i hope i informed you. :)
My bird does something like this as well.. That's not abuse, it's trust. My blue and gold macaw's favorite toy is a 2x4 that he can destroy in less than a week. If the macaw in this video was being abused, that guy would have no fingers left, believe me.
Picking up the parrot by the tail, if brought on correctly and taught its safe to the bird, it can be the near equivalent of scruffing a cat. Just minus the enzymes which make cats stop moving. Beautiful bird though :-)
bananas, peas corn is good for a parrot. very healthy Never give them Crackers or any junk food Cracker contain SALT.. Salt is not good for a parrot. Parrots have a Dry Mouth... you should keep all Electrical Cords in a place where a Parrot can't bite it because if the parrot ever drinks water (the mouth is now wet) The parrot will die instantly from a Electric shock from the Cord if its plugged in. Keep all small particles especially Styrofoam if it gets in the wind pipe they will Die.
be sure and ask first if the parrot bites or is friendly. if a parrot is in the cage especially at a pet store 99.9% of the time the parrot will bite you. If you ever own a parrot best foods to give it besides seeds. frozen corn heat in mircowave in water dump water out corn must be warm not hot or it will burn the parrots Gizzard/throat. Always give it fresh water everyday. green peas, banana. these are posinous Avacado, Chocolate, Anything that is LEAD! it will KILL A Bird/Parrot!
Let the bird step up onto your hand or shoulder Parrots love having their head rub. Everyone is nervous over the beak of a parrot. The hook bill parrots only can bite with the bottom beak with the 2 sharp points. the parrot in this video can Snap a Broom stick in Half. The large macaws beaks are extremely powerful. They can exert a pressure of 350+ lbs. per square inch, which can snap a finger clean off. So bascially what im saying is be Gentle with them don't horse play with birds/parrots
Im a Bird Breeder & what this man is doing with this Macaw is actually Cruel. You should never pick up any bird/parrot by its Tail, Wing, Head, turn it over on its back. Parrots have Hallow bones & very fragile animals. If a blood Feather very breaks the bird or Parrot wil bleed to death! A blood feather has blood at the root against their body. You should never turn a parrot/bird upside down after they eat because they can choke from food inside their crop.
Very trusting of humans! : ) How cute! And yes, if the Macaw felt it was in any danger, it would definately defend itself. I don't believe this man is abusing the bird.
If you're comparing it to holding a person by their hair its very different. A B&G macaw's wt on average is 1lb (I know they dont look it but theyre mostly feathers + fluff, not much bird) as opposed to 150lbs of person. Feathers are firmly secured to a birds body when they're not molting. Also, it looked like he had wing + tail feathers in his hands which would distribute the weight over a larger area of the birds body. The fact the bird didn't react when he was upside down shows it didnt hurt.
@edcoleman9 yer the bird was sooo scared....i mean it was just laying there and letting him pat him and trusting the guy with his life. look at that pure TERRROR!
@567colleen If it was scaring the bird, it would've attacked him or at least make a bit of a fight if it didn't like it. So basically it's not being an asshole.
Wow, YOU are an asshole. Just another of those goddamn idiots who call themselfs bird specialists and actually have no fucking idea of anything. Do you own a bird? Do you have any idea of how birds react when they don't like something? He didn't try to fly away, he didn't bite, HE DID ABSOLUTELY NOTHING, that would lead to the conclusion that he doesn't feel okay! I own 13 Birds, currently, and if they don't like something, the'll let me know. I'm so sick of those wannabe jesus's.
@567colleen If that bird wasn't totally fine, that guy would have a mighty big gash on his arm or a missing finger. The bird would fly away, or try to. It totally trusts him.
@567colleen... yer the bird was sooo scared....i mean it was just laying there and letting him pat him and trusting the guy with his life. look at that pure TERRROR!
@latecia1 tell me one thing...have you ever owned a bird? no u haven't. i've owned 5 over the years punk and i no one thing for sure. that right there is a bird that loves and trusts its master. U r sooo thick. the way u act thinking that u no EVERYTHING and calling people "primitives" makes u pathetic. if you knew the fist think about pet birds u would no that guys a pro. what a great bond they have.
@OneLittleWagtail - how do ya know i never owned a bird?u think u just the few people with a big birds or what?
look at his beak -is keeping opening when you touch him,he is moving his head away from you, have his wings lifted, its signals that IT IS ANNOYNG for him and that if he doesnt peck you yet, doesn mean he wouldn't!
some birds are passive ,less agresive and they can suffer a lot.
you are mentaly sick and have a lower iq so you r not able to realize.
@latecia1 have u ever owned a bird? just curious. (don't lie to me) and if u didn't notice its a macaw, if it was annoyed it would bite the guys finger off. oh wow the break opens when u touch him, he moves his head when he comes near!!! wow!! my god that bird is so enraged!! stop acting like a fucking god, u know nothing

1. No, not abuse. But picking up a bird by its tail is a risk I would not take. They could have new (blood) feathers developing, which are extremely sensitive. It might hurt, whether intended or not
2. Macaws, will NOT necessarily bite if they don't like what you're doing. Biting is a learned behavior, it's not natural for parrots to bite when they're upset. They do that out of desperation. That being said, Dino shows no sign of discomfort here.
That might be, but I'm assuming, that he wouldn't cuddle with the guy, right after the trick, if he'd be angry or something. Seriously, a mad bird looks totally different, even if it's not biting.
I love how everyone on youtube thinks they know everything... This bird is fine, it's totally stoked on the person, you can tell when a bird is uncomfortable if you've spent any time around any bird.
this guy should be careful! whether or not that bird trusts him, anything could go wrong at any time... the bird could get injured, or even him. Both would be terrible outcomes.
Guys, if he was abusing the bird, he'd have lost a finger. The bird obviously trusts him, totally. Have you ever tried to put a bird on it's back like that, that didn't trust you?? Hmm? Yeah, thought so.

TheSlayer234 6 months ago

PaRrOtReScUeWoTr 7 months ago
@PaRrOtReScUeWoTr
PixieStew 7 months ago 29
@PixieStew but then tell me why i could hold a blue and gold macaw like this when i was on lanzarote... it was in a show and they walked around letting us hold them when they took a picture... I've never seen this bird before and it just laid on it's back in every mans/women's hand.
Nazror 4 months ago
@Nazror
PixieStew 4 months ago
@PixieStew yes probably.
Nazror 4 months ago
If the bird was being hurt, that guy would probably be getting chewed up and cut by that macaw, That is a huge big, and he could pack a lot of damage. When birds feel threatened they WILL BITE! That isn't abuse, it is true trust.
KodaBby94 7 months ago
how cute! my bird would always give me the "WTF- u mad" look when i laid him on his back, he'd roll back over and demand lots of head petting.
i bet those that are whining about this have never even owned a bird. if a bird doesn't want to do something, it will definitely make it clear, it will kick ass and ask questions later.

lol the first one wasnt a trick thats called picking a birdup by its tail, not very fun if you ask me
jerrysenegalparrot 8 months ago

Keep all small particles especially Styrofoam if it gets in the wind pipe they will Die.
insidetheredzone 9 months ago
be sure and ask first if the parrot bites or is friendly. if a parrot is in the cage especially at a pet store 99.9% of the time the parrot will bite you. If you ever own a parrot best foods to give it besides seeds. frozen corn heat in mircowave in water dump water out corn must be warm not hot or it will burn the parrots Gizzard/throat. Always give it fresh water everyday. green peas, banana. these are posinous Avacado, Chocolate, Anything that is LEAD! it will KILL A Bird/Parrot!
insidetheredzone 9 months ago
Let the bird step up onto your hand or shoulder Parrots love having their head rub. Everyone is nervous over the beak of a parrot. The hook bill parrots only can bite with the bottom beak with the 2 sharp points. the parrot in this video can Snap a Broom stick in Half. The large macaws beaks are extremely powerful. They can exert a pressure of 350+ lbs. per square inch, which can snap a finger clean off. So bascially what im saying is be Gentle with them don't horse play with birds/parrots
insidetheredzone 9 months ago
Im a Bird Breeder & what this man is doing with this Macaw is actually Cruel. You should never pick up any bird/parrot by its Tail, Wing, Head, turn it over on its back. Parrots have Hallow bones & very fragile animals. If a blood Feather very breaks the bird or Parrot wil bleed to death! A blood feather has blood at the root against their body. You should never turn a parrot/bird upside down after they eat because they can choke from food inside their crop.
insidetheredzone 9 months ago
wow dino trusts you so much!
dragonbrawler22 9 months ago
Very trusting of humans! : ) How cute! And yes, if the Macaw felt it was in any danger, it would definately defend itself. I don't believe this man is abusing the bird.

it doesn't look very....safe to hold your macaw by it's tail...
I'm not bird expert but isn't there are chance it might hurt him? (y'know, like if someone was holding you up by your hair?)
creepygirl94 9 months ago
If you're comparing it to holding a person by their hair its very different. A B&G macaw's wt on average is 1lb (I know they dont look it but theyre mostly feathers + fluff, not much bird) as opposed to 150lbs of person. Feathers are firmly secured to a birds body when they're not molting. Also, it looked like he had wing + tail feathers in his hands which would distribute the weight over a larger area of the birds body. The fact the bird didn't react when he was upside down shows it didnt hurt.

Verkleidett 10 months ago
@567colleen
I'm so sick of those wannabe jesus's.
jjkillerbird 10 months ago

OneLittleWagtail 9 months ago

Just a bunch of overreacting here. The bird is not hurt or anything, and the macaw obviously trusts its owner. Birds are tougher than you think.
tiennumidori1 10 months ago 3
A lot of misinformation on both sides here...
VenusAD 10 months ago 2
@VenusAD
That might be, but I'm assuming, that he wouldn't cuddle with the guy, right after the trick, if he'd be angry or something. Seriously, a mad bird looks totally different, even if it's not biting.
