helo i enabled real audio on my router i also set up a trigger port 554 to triger ports 1024-65525 , and youtube still wont buffer on my se w705 ,, idont know a whole lot about what im doin,,is there anything else i can do? thanks

i went to internet acc. . put the wireless SSID in the group. . then i go "weB".. then connent to my created group. then it works. .

@Riffe97 try using WEP rather than WPA security types. Alter your router to be WEP then enter the code it gives into your P1i. That should do it.

To watch youtube on the device, enable something called 'Real Audio' in the router. You might find this in the 'Port Forwarding' section.

Ive been battling with this issue for 18 months now since i bought my p1i. The phone has never been able to stream youtube vid from m.youtube or any other site. Until today that is!

Its not the phone, the codecs or a UIQ issue. The answer lies in the router settings. (Mine being Netgear) PORT FORWARDING. I basically had to enable a service. I didnt know wot i was looking at but there was one called REAL AUDIO. I enabled it and put in my P1i's IP address (192.168.1.3) and Boom, it plays youtube!

Wow, thank you!!! It helped me! I have at home Zyxel wifi router (including ADSL modem), I enabled real audio port forwarding for IP 10.0.06 (my P1i IP) and it works. Awesome!

@brodhaq very good. It was a long and frustrating problem for me. It took a lot of searching and trial and error but i cracked it in the end. Enjoy the P1i. Its a great phone.

Its the router's firewall thats blocking the p1i from viewing youtube videos. I tried disabling the firewall on my router and it worked without any problem.

@ramyzgheib Not if you have it set up right. I know the p1i prefers WEP security to WPA. With WPA mine would freeze up quite often.

Do you mean watch other videos over the net or just videos you transfer to the phone's memory card? The P1i will happily play back 320x240 MP4 videos @ 30 fps. I've found 800kbps for the video and 160kbps for the sound (mp3 codec) works quite well.

The video converter called "Super" does a good job and it's free too. :)

If you've got a mobile data connection (GPRS, 3G, etc) then you could use that too but make sure you have a unlimited plan or something cos streaming videos consumes a large amount of data and if you're paying per KB, it's VERY expensive.

If you're using a wlan connection then it's basically free since the youtube mobile is free just like most other normal websites that you access via your browser.

Never tried. I don't use hotmail. You could try asking around in the esato forums, there's quite a healthy P1i user base there.

You'll probably need a flash client. I'm not sure if there's one for the P1i or if the P1i is even powerful enough to run flash properly though. I haven't been playing with the video functions of the phone since i posted this video. :p

Like I've mentioned in the video description, this video was playing off the mobile version of youtube. That one doesn't use flash and phones that support streaming RTSP/3GP with H263/AMR can view the videos directly.

Every video on mobile Youtube should work. Unfortunately mobile Youtube doesn't have all the content of the normal Youtube you're using now. Or at least the last i checked.

no need to do any setting with your SE P1i and home Wi-Fi access point, youtube video can play on SE p1i very well.

make sure your Wi-Fi signal is enough strong, and test it at late night when youtube server are not too busy!!!

youtube let your SE P1i direct post your shooting mobile phone video into their website too. ( send as e-mail attachment file )

You mean the front-facing camera? I don't think you can use that to take pics. Sound quality is ok (not as good as the walkman series phones). Volume-wise it's pretty loud except when i use my 3rd party music player (LCG jukebox).

the P1i is the loudest out of the UIQ series although i havent heard the W960i but after the P1i-W960 conversion is complete there wont be any difference except for the space...but i knw of an 8 GIG m2 card so its even then :p

If u're connected to a free wireless access point providing internet connectivity it should cost you anything. If you're connecting via 3G/GPRS then it really depends on your service provider and their rates.

Hmm.. Don't know why you see that message. Maybe you should check your connections manager and see if there are any other active connections apart from the connected wifi. The phone might be using something else to stream the video.

It does have 802.11b wifi which should allow you to connect most if not all compatible access points as long has the signal is strong enough. Yes you can google and everything in the web browser. There's no MSN messenger client that comes with the phone though so you'll have to get a 3rd party one. I *think* there are free ones but personally i'm using UltraIMPro and it works pretty good.

It's a 2wire ADSL2+/802.11G router provided by my ISP. Didn't have to configure anything on the router in terms of enabling any port forwarding, DMZ, etc.

Err, what do you mean how exactly? The settings would depend on the configuration of the wireless network. Mine is using a 128-bit open WEP key. Nothing else special. My SSID is hidden too.

That's strange. I didn't have to install any codec or configure the media viewer for youtube to work straight away.

Clicking on the video whilst it's playing will change it to a full-screen landscape view but it will not do any scaling. Unfortunately, the videos on mobile YT are quite low res so it doesn't get any bigger in "fullscreen" mode.
