because they are weak..people..play with them and harm them so badly..imagine animals have our brains and bigger then us?..they will make us suffer and these ppl did.
We need to stop our civilization's nonstop "progress" and learn to be content with less things and learn to loath greed. Abandon wastefulness and do not pursue anything that requires much resources from the Earth, because they're not ours- we are in fact dismantling nature.
ivan the guerilla was imprisoned for TWENTY FIVE years! this is really sad, how can anyone lock some living thing away for so long that has done nothing wrong?
Humans are always trying to act valiant and trying to save something. Save the environment, save the animals, save the Earth. In one way, it's respectable as we are trying to better how we and other species live. However, it's more sad than respectable as we are saving them from ourselves. We created the problematic situations we are trying to prevent. Quite honestly, humans are a plague to everything else.

true but there has already changed a lot... remember where we come from and what is now... and yes, we still have a long way to go... but step by step, we'll get there
wayy back in 1964, I lived in tacoma, washington, and I remember very clearly seeing Ivan the gorilla at the B&I. he was very young at that time, and always looked so sad - small wonder..... through the eyes of a child, he was fascinating to me and so much fun to visit, little did I understand what such confinement did to him. thank God he was finally rescued and was able to live out the rest of his life in a more positive environment!
My heart is breaking.Every single day I get to see or hear something so desturbing and sad about human treatment of animals....I don't know how much of that I will be able to take......
I value an animals life more than a humans if that human is massively misstreating an undeserving animal. i.e. Rodeo's I'd rather the portrayed "Cowboy" get gored or trampled to death that the bull enduring any injury. I hope I'm not the only one.
please sign the petition to ban ringling bros circus from owning animals, you can find the petition by googling "ban ringling", it is the one at "the petition site". or msg me i will link u, thanks
I can remember reading Thrills of a Naturalist's Quest by Raymond Ditmars as a young man and thinking to myself "he is a true animal person". Ditmars loved all animals, from moray eels to spider monkeys to elephants and everything inbetween. Everybody thinks they are animal people. I have yet to meet someone even close to him. This relates to videos like this in that Ditmars was the curator of a zoo and helped shape modern zoos. Zoos wouldn't be the same without him.
This was such a well done video. I wish all 3parts would be featured and have millions of views.. oh well.
Please support the conservation of these animals in their natural habitats, and family planning as we the people and our booming population are the worse enemy.
Leave animals in their world ... Thev are not happy in our world as we cant live in their world...

I liked this, but I kept getting a feeling they were pushing how wonderful zoos are. I really don't like supporting zoos or circuses with money :\
