  • i used to practice wing chun........then i took a arrow in the knee

  • The two signatures of sifu are without no doubt hi "parthicular" and his "let me borrow you jim".

  • Comment removed

  • One thing that's great about Sifu Wong is that he actually shows you how to do the form instead of just showing off his speed.

  • really? may be, but there's smth good to me in his art, it's fairly enough

  • Great, now all i need is a partner..

  • @transparent101 buy some hooker

  • @transparent101 a blonde partner!

  • Woooooooot great teaching thx

  • im doing classes atm and obviosly on my white belt as i jst started and in a couple weeks ive learnt so much the training is traight to the point and ur arms get tougher and ur body gets lean deffinetely look into this if u want to take up some form of martial arts

  • Great video, but I'd like to see their foot.

  • @TheTransmuter The end of the video is the 'textbook' form of the footwork. Directly translated it's called "Turning Horse".

Imagine about 70% weight on the back leg, and your other leg points at about 45degrees. To practise the drill, move on the heels (not the toe end! You can't pivot that way) left to right, driving the movement with your hips. Just use enough energy/strength to drive the movement.

  • @SeraphimFaith Thank you! This movement is very important, I'll practice it a lot better now. By all the information I've gathered, I believe that the footwork one of the most fundamental basis to the Wing Chun training. Without it, Wing Chun becomes too predictable.

  • @TheTransmuter Footwork is important in any art. Actually, I would go so far to say that everything learnt along the way *is* important, but as your legs are the foundation upon which everything is set on, footwork should be emphasized on in the beginning.

The Biu Ma (Arrow/Darting Horse), the Huen Ma (Circle Horse) and the Juen Ma are three of the most basic footwork.

  • Wouldn't you do a Gum Sao at an upper cut? It is alot more effective specially with a kick too.

  • @mrshernandez Beauty of wing chun is versatility. If Gum Sao works better for you then use it! But these, I think, are just a few basic defense ideas.

  • I wish he opens some branches in other country.

  • Such drills are good and to be trained seperatly - BUT: one who had not understood the main principle and tactics if wingchun should learn them first...

  • Alot of people say MMA is better, HELL NO, Marital Arts is better!!

  • @bloodhoun138 - MMA is martial arts, that's what it stands for. Mixed Martial Arts

  • @acollantine Marital Arts is a single art like Wing Chun, But MMA is a variety of Martial Arts to fit one's persons style.

  • i thought wing chun was about close combat.. i want to learn this

  • @AsG1989 Nothing illegal about breaking an opponent's arm or leg in UFC :)

I'm actually serious, you can break arms and legs. If you do end up breaking a limb, it's not your fault, but your opponent's for not tapping.

    Tap or Snap.

  • @Tommy9834 Im not talking about a submission move, in one twisting motion you can snap their arm if they try to punch you. Its pak sao but using your forearm into their elbow, and you guarding hand pulls the wrist towards your body. He doesnt have a chance to give up because it breaks instantly.

  • @AsG1989 Still sounds legal to me. Call it what you want, but it sounds like a really fast standing submission.

It's still legal to lock in and yank in a submission really fast, standing or on the ground, before your opponent has a chance to tap. You'll look like an asshole, but still legal under unified MMA rules. In fact, if you can break an opponent's arm standing, you might even get Submission of the Night.

Also the human body is harder to break then the movies make it look.

  • @Tommy9834 im sure its frowned upon though as you could end careers. gsp couldve broke hadys arms plenty of times for example

  • his head is shiny..

  • i will do these practice to protect myself from the bad people...tnx...

  • Masta Wong!!!!!!!!!!

  • when i Study Aikido i learn to TWIST MY OPENENTS BONES INTO FRUCTURE. THIS TEACHING WILL HELP ME TO BLEED MY ENEMY...TNX,,,

  • I USED TO STUDY AIKIDO I WANT TO LEARN THIS MOVEMENT..ITS VERY NICE...TNX FOR THIS VIDEO...

  • @UmmahIslam1 ......if you're gonna do that i advise you not to practice wing chun then....wing chun is used for self-defence......it is not to wallop or break someone's bones......

  • @linyongxiao1995

Right on! I'd also go on to say that the Martial Arts which were formulated by our worthy ancestors in the East were also seen as a means of complementing our spiritual development. Like anything, there are various applications, but studying hours of hours of MA was also a means of cultivating discipline, respect for your teacher, keeping the physical body strong and supple to endure hours of seated poses, understanding the self on some levels etc...those that Know, Know ;)

  • ...However, I've not had the opportunity for much exposure to Western MA apart from a # of years with classes in 2 general disciplines and certain textbooks. Therefore I'm unware of something similar for traditional Western MA. Great series sifu. For me it is useful to study and help refine various areas. However from the comments, some are also finding it both educational and a powerful means to increase their sense of well being for themselves and their family. Many thanks.

  • what if the left and right straight punches coming at you are very fast 1 second apart how do u have time to move to the outside of each arm to block each punch?

  • @STATUSthesleepers

ChiSao mate. You can not learn it via a web series though, you need a sifu to spend a logn time. With Authentic Wing chun we spend a lot of time blindfolded and practice the circumstances you are talking about. We accept there will be attacks to fast to see with the eye.. but nothing is faster then touch

  • why is he doing this for free?

  • @STATUSthesleepers

Sharing knowledge, allowing the art to flourish and benefit people simultaneously to name a couple of the benefits :D

  • It`s free dude :D

  • The outside straight punch block looks like pak sau and the inside block and hook is Tan sau and the uppercut block is called jum sau

  • I really appreciate how you put these lessons on the internet. I'm such a petite girl and thats been a big down fall, many fights. But see I dont want to hurt people I want to defend myself if that makes any since. Now I just had a little boy and being a single mom it gets hard but I want to be able to protect him too. Thanks!

  • It might be worth looking into Chin Na too. Teaches about various pressure points on joints etc, plus locks for arms, joints etc which don't require massive strength as an adjunct to this training. Also, check out those punch bags with a solid base which are shaped like a man and practice on that. Adjust height to an avg male/opponent&go from there... muscle memory could help you 1 day. If you can find classes, sparring with a person under tutalage is invaluable, otherwise, train hard&gd luck :)

  • Has anyone ever watch a movie called 'Grand Master Ip'? It is a really reaaaaly good movie master Ip was Bruce Lees mentor. Thats what got me so intrested in wing chun. For those have you that haven't seen that movie should really find it and watch it, it's an awesome movie.

  • @Secretlyastonishing yeah I just startet to watch this videos when I have see the movie :D

  • thanks a lot master wong

  • are wooden wing chun dummies effective for all of these techniques? (defense against straight punch, hooks, uppercuts, etc.)

  • @deadwrong21 of course

  • can someone message me and tell me is wing chun more punches or kicks or even all over

  • @jcloright even. just as real tae kwon do is even all over too, not ''only kicks''.

  • Master Wong, is it possible to train just by watching your online videos alone ?

You videos are definitely great, and I am sure alot of people are dedicated and ready for the commitment, but is just learning and training from watching your online videos enough to learn WC ? without a trainer in real life correcting/guiding you along the way ?

  • theres one thing i notice that is funny about the guy that practice with master wong,he keeps blinking when master wong shows us the countering part....but im sure i do that too...thats why i learn wingchun

  • Comment removed

  • great man just great. Very soon i'm gonna kick somebody's ass badly, thanks to you.

  • and isn't Wing Chun performs like a glue to the enemy giving it no space to perform right..? Then why do we have to keep the space..? I just need to know master..

  • I just want to clear something Master Wong.. Isn't Wing Chun ( the art of close combat)..? If your smaller than the enemy you need to fight it close and imagine a wall by going around and around it.. If your bigger then you attack on long range... So what do you really mean by the don't come to close master..?

  • Thats very #COOL

  • #COOL

  • Man, I've used a lot of wing chun to save my ass, and I've never seen someone able to block a straight punch with a pak sao in a real fight.

  • Ive practiced some of these with my friends but cant catch their strike in time... What are some drills or exercises i could do by my self to develope the speed needed for these blocks?

  • @Wariar11 once u practice enough u will develop anticipation, allowing u to see attacks and respond very quickly

  • @Wariar11 Go over the earlier lessons, they're building blocks.

  • Very Nicely done!!

    Well explained!!!

  • GENIAL

  • I thought when striking in wing chun the elbow should be bent on initial contact rather than being at full extension as he is here. Shouldn't he move in and strike?

  • on this particular exercise

  • PLEASE: when referring to this exercise refer to it as this particular exercise =p

  • AwESOME

  • so im doing this with my friends and his arms are longerRRR then mine so how do i do it? i got hit in the nose this way

  • @nichlasz

You need to "step in" when you block.

  • @NYCKhite am i stepping in for the uppercut part also?

  • @nichlasz you r structure is problyy wrong or you foot work is wrong. if your goign agenst someone taller, you might need to step in a little more, and twist you body/yeild. :)

  • if they ever make a KOJAK 2 you not da WONG MAN for the part :-)

  • It's very boring to see someone under every video picking up a negative thing to comment, and almost all are unfair. It's called "Lesson 18". It's a little useful teaching video piece, not a 2 hr. documentary on WT. To give a philosophy at EVERY video would be a time waste, right? If you have time to comment, and watch videos, why don't you put up a video, and "teach us"? You'd be a positive person, not a negative one.

  • k, send me a video camera. im not wasting my time, i dont like these videos because they are mucking up the martial arts systems. im not saying they're bad, but i definitely wouldn't allow someone to teach a fighting system just for the sake of fighting, then it isnt even martial arts. its tomfoolery, it would be debasing the whole systems of the art. martial arts were initially intended for peace, not to just kick someones ass.

  • LOL. I highly doubt you are anywhere near as experienced as master wong is in wing chun martial arts, let alone the many other fighting systems he has learnt (that's to assume you've any experience whatsoever, fellow youtuber). I would take his word over yours any day, since you use a computer and you're probably within stages of puberty.

About that last bit.. learning to defend yourself does not promote peace. It's effective resistance. Your sources must be misinformed.

  • @mrmurlmeister never said i was as experienced as him, and i am right by all of my views, they are mine. if you are offended by them i am sorry, there is no need to try to be insulting at any level. everyone is misinformed at all times, whether from another person, book, computer or anything else. martial arts were in fact intended for peace, as a way to improve your body and as a way to understand yourself and the world so there would be no need for fighting.

  • @mmmeister. While you are backing the same side I am, I have a roundabout manner of backing a couple of MST's points. I am unable to promote YT videos as a single source of instruction. It can be taken out of chronology, context, and without expert clarification and critique. And While MA are primarily a self defense application, someone trained to recognize threats and diffuse tense situations with a clear mind, often promotes peace by avoiding a fight in the first place.

  • thanks sifu master.

    i deserve a big respect

  • cool.

  • Should show foot movements during the drill not just at the end

  • You should have mastered the foot movements during the previous Lessons, why do you think he says Practice this alot?

  • very cool drill

  • i think when the uppercut is used with more power the showed defence wouldnt be effective ;[

  • He's just showing the technique, in one of his vids he uses more powerful block for that meant to break arm bones...so it will work :)

  • but what´s the best way to blok a hook? using the inside or the outside of the forearm? i fell i can´t get enough power on my block using the outside as its doing on the vid. i know maybe its the correct way on wing shun, but i just fell my blok with outside of the bone works better for me.

  • thanks master wong

  • this guy is so amazing

  • can we please see also the leg movements and positons when doing this exercises, its good to see when you move to as the punches come in as well your hand positons ,

    thank you

  • Great!

  • Although we can't over look the goal/purpose of the training when deciding whats 'best' :)

  • Sou brasileiro e adoro Wing Shun! Trenio no Rio de janeiro mas um dia vou ai pessoalmente aprender com vc! Parabéns!

  • master wong is badass and bald

  • @uberbigbread His own hair's afraid to come out and see him, he's so badass.

  • Master Wong do very useful thing, I've got no trainer in my town (Russia), and now I can practice wing chun via internet, it's great deal !

    Thank a lot, Master Wong.

  • @diglan78 I have the same fucing problem!!

  • @diglan78 If you're really good you may be able to pick up the essence of the training. But, it's still recommended to get a good teacher as soon as possible.

    Cheers.

  • @SeraphimFaith did i say smth bad?

    Did i say i'm good? :)

  • @SeraphimFaith ooohh... apparently You were answering not me :)

  • @diglan78 Er yeah...I was replying to your top-rated comment above.

There's nothing wrong training alone, but it's always best to train under guidance in the beginning.

  • @SeraphimFaith I agree

  • xie xie nin, sifu

  • When someone tries to give you a hook, better use Biu Sao, in stead of Kwan Sao. Kwan Sao is weaker when you get a pressure towards you. Worse, if someone is stronger then your triceps you won't even hold the first strike. i would recommend Biu Sao

  • Great master.... thanks a lot.

Can I ask you if when you turn your feet... when you turn you turn on the feet balls or on the heels? I one was told that if one turns on the heels it's much more powerful since the center of the weight is located there, What do you think?

    Thanks I like these techniques!

  • To my understanding, wing chun focuses alot about stability (in particular for your stance) so turning about the heel is best.

Strictly speaking, the centre of mass isnt actually through the heels but its equidistant between the two heels (assuming a symmetrical stance). So the distance between he heels and this centre of mass is less than that of the ball of the foot and the centre of mass.

  • Comment removed

  • Actually looking at his earlier videos, it seemed like he was turning on the balls of his feet, not the heels.

When blocking a punch, he's constantly saying how moving the body will divert the punch and prevent getting hit. Since the heels are connected to the ankles/legs, which are the base of the body, rotation on the heels would create less movement of the body than turning on the balls.

Anyways, I might be wrong so feel free to correct me.

  • Master wong is a true blessing from God he spends time helping people out thank you Master wong!

  • Great clips! Always show the fundamentals. People now a days just want to learn the advance, but not the basics. Basics are the building blocks.

  • i love these videos!!!

his head is so shiny, but i'd never tell hi that in person, yikes.

  • haha you'd better watch out wth the smart ass comments "parcicular wiv dis guuy"

  • Thank you for teaching Master.

I hope there will follow many videos.

  • let me borrow u jim =P

  • NIce Nice.

  • MAster Wong is the MASTER :)

good teacher master keep on workin' m8

  • very good

  • Master Wong will be posting Wing Chun lessons up on you tube everyday. He has already posted 18 lessons! If you have any questions that you would like answered on your own training, Master Wong will reply to it by video response so look out for it. Master Wong will gladly answer them if asked at an appropriate manner and are a sensible question to help with their training. This is a free training service Master Wong supplies in the hope of reaching those who want to train & learn.

  • @138mws

Master Wong, is it possible to learn just by watching your online videos alone ?

You videos are definitely great, there's no doubt about it. and I am sure alot of people are dedicated and ready for the commitment, but is just learning and training from watching your online videos enough to learn WC ? without a trainer in real life correcting/guiding you along the way ? Thankyou

  • awesome series

  • I wish that we could see his feet for the techniques. Thanks anyways.

  • towards the end on his own he shows the feet move: they pivot on the spot. Chium Kiu the second form has this pivot in it.

  • 70/ 30 all the time for training. in these each swing starts with front stance with bent legs with the body , his legs go to cat stance or the 70/30 position

  • These videos are getting better and better. Keep it up the good work.

  • Finally, videos that actually teach. Thank you.

  • Very effective! Thankyou for sharing. Your videos are amazing.
