  • In the topic of eating meat, I have to put forward the fact that the onoces is on the meat eater to justify consuming animals, this is because they are the ones consuming meat and so they are the ones taking the actions and making the claims that it is okay, We in support of animal rights are opposed to this claim.

Other animals suffering pain and a young death in exchange for a relatively small amount of human pleasure is imbalanced so the meat eater is repsonsible to justify how this is okay.

  • Two Words!!!

    F*ck HLS!!!!!

  • Some idiot(s) out there obviously can't see beyond their own limited mindsets. If you're against animal testing, it doesn't mean you believe in testing on humans, though in the case of the above commentator, I'd be prepared to make an exception. All this testing of drugs has far more to do with fuelling the pharmaceutical industry than finding cures. We don't need an endless stream of drugs for our ills. We need to learn how to live differently

  • hahahahahahahahahahahaha.........hahahah don't you guys have better things to do then protest about shit like this honestly

  • what a surprise the corporate scum bag bankers are into animal torture!

  • but look at the woman there they are keen to wear make-up which had to be tested on animals before human use and some there have lether hand bags and jackets which was once the skin of an animal lol hypocrites

  • @jamie123ginge how can you tell that their make up was tested on animals? You're making assumptions without evidence. You can buy cruelty free make up you know. And have you heard of a brand called Vegetarian shoes? They make fake leather jackets as well as pretty realistic leather looking shoes. I think you want them to be hypocrites because you want to discredit them somehow - maybe be smarter about it next time..

  • Im not putting anyone down, I have no complaints.

But people need to stop asking the Gov. permission, and just do it. look at Libya, it started with a few then before ya knew it the entire country was in the streets.

  • The police put people in jail for doing this. But you know what you put one away 2 more will take their place. People will never stop fighting until these places are close forever. God bless you to everyone who helps this cause thank you from the bottom of my heart. Keep up the good fight.

  • so...you want the lab to test on people and kill them? That sounds like a much better idea! dumbasses...

  • @movinajovana its a lot more complicated than that "dumbass". It's about restructuring a profit driven, multi-billion pound industry.. sure testing life saving medicine needs to be addressed, but the majority of the cruel tests are driven by greed. Breeding and testing on animals is a massive side industry in and of itself.

  • @movinajovana your the dumb azz..you know that don't you?????

  • @movinajovana Your the dumb azz you know that don't you???????????

  • HLS is truly sick. The only reason they still exist is because they were bailed out. Next up: Stop UBC Animal Research.

  • people why dont yall care about these beautiful creatures that god made why do yall want to kill them this is just sad that people murder these animals people who muder them should be murderd this is not cool

  • @peacegirl509 If an animal has the same rights as a human, what about responsibilities? What does a rat know of society? What does an ape know about division of labour? What does any animal know about murder?

Quite a bit, for that last one. In fact cats frequently kill for no reason. But of course, prosecuting a cat for murder would be nonsense wouldnt it ;)

  • SHAC, never stop what you are doing! We've seen who the terrorists are, and it's not the good people out with placards fighting for the voiceless.

  • Can we be clear on a few things?

What gives a being the capacity for suffering is the presence of nerves. Nerves send pain signals to the brain, so anything with nerves can suffer.

My question is: If a test can be done on an animal with SCIENTIFIC VALIDITY that correlates to humans, doesn't the validity of the test prove that animals and humans are so similar that human suffering equals animal suffering? When you're writhing in pain, can you speak or reason?

  • @Contradiction11 yes its true but you're disgracing your own kind (mankind) in order to help other species... why help another specie if you're not one of them... save your own kind first, save yourself first and THEN save the others

  • we might find that in saving our planet and the other species of this world that are near extinction because of us, we discover the means to save our own.

  • they're dying because of us? you know a lot of innocent women & children die almost every day in the middle east and third world countries BECAUSE OF US and yet here you are worrying about snails & whales... and every specie on this planet is gonna be extinct sooner or later so my advice is... let them go peacefully, leave them alone and look our for yourself and ur own kind because the animals have their own way of living and dying

  • first of all i worry about both. and i'm not just going to let them go peacefully because this is my fucking planet and i want everything in it saved. you can't say animals have their own way of living and dying because humans are responsible for 20% of the world's bird species becoming extinct. over the next 100 years if extinction rates remain constant 20% of the world's species will becomes extinct, thats 340,000,000,000 species, gone, because of human interference. do you accept this?

  • "this is my fucking planet and i want everything in it saved. "

are you serious? u want EVERYTHING in this planet saved? do you really think you're gonna have an impact anyways? let's be real here dude... this planet doesn't need saving...at all... AT ALL... WE DO.

If we were ever a threat to this planet, it would simply shake us down just like that. (by "shake down" i mean global disasters like earthquakes, solar flares, tsunamis, pole shifts etc)

planet has been fine for billions of years:)

  • "over the next 100 years"

why would you care for the next 100 years? surely me and you will be long gone by then, wont we? or are you trying to save those birds for your descenders or something?

wether we kill/hunt animals or not, as i said, sooner or later they're gonna be gone forever so your efforts are practically useless. we dominate them, we are superior to every creature on this planet... why? because we can fucking think ! which you seem to lack a lot...and your type of people

  • The planet was fine till humanity, thats when animals started vanishing. We're the reason animals are dying out. As masters of this world we have a responsibility to its other inhabitants. as the only animal that can think, we have the ability to understand what is right and what is wrong, and act accordingly. You say we shouldn't save animals, but save humanity. I say it doesn't take much energy to save animals, not much at all, you can do both at the same time.

  • I love animals, I love nature, I love to hunt , fish and trap ! Im glad I kept this special link with nature. these city people managed to loose and then turn against what the wilderness really is ... Long live to Canada and our well managed hunting, fishing and trapping regulation I will be able to continue living like human should live = like an animal ! we are animals. Ho yeah thank you mother nature

  • go lie in a dirt and sniffing shits and licking your balls and shitting all over the place in public, you filthy animal.

  • thank you my friend !

  • im sorry

  • Agreed these people are ANTI HUMAN ANIMAL INTERACTION

  • at least there getting attention

  • And what are YOU doing to make the world a better place, Funkystumpy247?

  • Want to talk about taxpayer's money? How about that the extremely wasteful and inherently inefficient animal agriculture system is subsidized by "our" tax dollars. in any case, there are more important things at stake here than money. Animals are suffering and being tortured. I don't know what would have to be wrong with someone for them to not care about that.

As for me, I understand that the industry is run on consumer dollars. So I advocate veganism, freedom, and human rights together.

  • For my work I make music, because I know that's my best way of making people happy. A lot of my music is about compassion so hopefully I can use my voice to make the world a better place. I know I can't change everything but I can change a little bit around me. I try to be there for friends, help people in need, I'm not a perfect person but I do care about others which I think is the main thing. I care about myself too, and if we're going to help others we have to start with ourselves.

  • Education is the most important thing. Everything else improves from there. When people find out that animals are tortured for toiletries, most of them don't like that and switch. Therefore less animals suffering needlessly. I'd say that's an improvement in the world. So I appreciate those people making a big stink about it and taking the time out of their day to educate.

  • coverchenko you really are thick and not listening to anyone here. animals are made different to us, so you will never be able to tell what can be healthy for one species by testing it on another. its all about money, not science. if something is passed safe by animal testing then whoever the first humans are to use it become the real test subjects as no-one will know the results.

  • Not only do animal experiments cause terrible suffering to the animals, but also the results they produce are unreliable and misleading, because they apply to animals and not humans. Studies have shown that 92% of drugs passed as safe by animal tests are later discarded as useless or dangerous.

  • maybe 500 animals in a century but not in a day. i have researched this lab and 3-4 animals die a year due to research. these animals are lab rats to that have been bred for this specific purpose. oh and animal testing is absolutely necessary no matter what these bigots tell you. research using animals has saved millions of human lives.

  • coverchenko

    you are shit

how can you support this barbaric

    abuse??!!

if you like testing so much why dont you become a labrat and let them torture you and breed you and torture your children and your children's children! and its not just rats its dogs and monkeys

why don't you go commit suicide and burn in hell you piece of shit

  • Well, if we win with the seals then who can stop us to close HLS :)

  • Haha, jeah what if...ok, gimme 1 example of where animals testing has helped at anyway, in curing cancer or produce safe drugs...show me 1...there arent any, wake up

  • Yeah but who cares about that when you can make a ton of money right? The goal of vivisection is profit not science.

  • well no because when the cure for aids or cancer comes out millions of human lives will be saved, but i guess they do have to charge something for the miracle cure i mean shipping isnt cheap these days.

  • so if you was in a car crash and one of your children needed a new Kidney or blood transfusion or some major Surgery. or if your child grew up at a very young age to contract Cancer , you wouldn't accept the hospitals help knowing full well that the treatment or things you need have been tested on animals you mention humans over animals lifes, well when animals can build hospitals of their own or bridges or industrial towns etc, then talk to me ,

  • The only benefit human beings get from product testing or medical "research" is MONEY.. Animal experimentation is misleading to human beings because they are a different species.

  • Diablo196...really, that a drugs been tested on an animals, dosent make it safe for humankind. Often drugs came out that are tested and it kills people. Open your eyes. Protests acts from compassion, and you want protesters to get deadly a disease.....

  • no you are wrong. drugs tested on animals are proven safe for humans because animals are twice as sensitive to toxins and chemicals. it is very easy to see that the drug is harmful when tested on an animal where as the human subject might not show signs for days even weeks.

  • Actually, asshole. Animals are not 'twice as sensitive' to toxins and chemicals. Where the hell did you get such a stupid fact like that? Did you make that up? The bodies of animals are not designed like us. Certain chemicals can be fatal to animals, but not humans, and vice versa. Animal based research is NOT reliable for that reason. Why continue to inflict pain and suffering on another living being when we will only get unreliable results?

  • omg i hope this is a troll. No one can be this stupid. May sound harsh words but anyone expecting similiar results from testing another species is a retard.

Look what happened with vioxx, was animal safe, killed a fuck tonne of humans

You should probably do more research before spewing stuff you read on a napkin at pizza hut

  • Well what else would you recomend Dr muchlove59.

You animal rights protesters are ever so keen on telling us what we can't use but you sure as fuck don't have the skill to come up with any other methods.

Testing on humans and computer i hear you say? Humans will work very well but loads will die anyway and computers is just a load of bull.

  • Do some research, their is plenty of alternatives.

You don't even know me so don't go telling me what i can and can't do, got it?

    Good

  • LOL i did biomedical science in university so in a way i can tell people here what they can and cant do and i don't really need to do any more research.

I am now doing computer forensics and a university prased for the course in the UK and know what computers can and can't do.

The alternatives that pop up all the time are computers which won't be an alternative method any time, soon if at all. And growing organs. Amimal rights groups seem to fail to understand how primitave these methods are.

  • The only thing you have demonstrated to any degree is a pretty large ego and level of arrogance.

No one knows everything and there is always more to learn. Being close minded and thinking you know it all will blinker you to options in the future.

In your last sentence about understanding etc, you spelt primitive wrong btw. Not nit picking but it made me smile considering the subject matter ^_^

  • Well thats where most aminal rights groups trip up. When they start talking about alternatives its usual crap like computers and testing it out on humans.

Animal rights groups are good at chucking out shit loads of theories but thats all it is, theories.

The truth is that testing on humans is suicidal, growing organs is almost impossible and using computers to replicate organs is also impossible for now.

The least the animal rights groups can do learn the practical behind there theories.

  • Their is a video on youtube of a doctor from russia talking of superior methods than animal testing but her hands are tied because law forces them to ATM. If you MUST have the source i could try to find it again but i don't make a habit of lying.

Animal testing gives a false sense of security and has resulted in some extremely horrible accidents due to that. At least if they worked with something that gave relevant results, they would know instead of guessing

  • But its those relevant results that are alot harder to get than it sounds.

Almost all animal rights group fail to know that because they never had the practical experience behind their theories.

If those animal rights activists really want to make the theories a practical reality then they should put some effort in and get some hands on experience before they criticize, protest and even burn down labs.

They won't get nowhere if they don't do anything.

  • Their is slow progress but as someone mentioned before, cost is an issue. The big companies that make a fortune on the suffering of animals will try and save a few quid if they can because it is simply cheaper for them to carve up some animals instead.

In time, hopefully with enough public awareness and pressure, governments, companies etc will adopt the pain free methods because the public demand it.

Public awareness is such an important factor for both sides

  • I can assure you that they are doing something about it. I know that animals are not all that effective but at the moment its still the only feasible method.

Its just that the vast majority of people don't know how much of a monumental task it is to fund and develop other methods.

As for money they only have so much and they will all love something better than testing on animals. All the doctors that taught me said that.

Its just people need to understand that it will happen when it happens

  • Aye i hear that. It is difficult though when you feel passionate about it not to let that passion cloud your judgement and expect it immediately etc.

As you said, all in good time

  • it seems to me, if you value progress, developing such computers would be the prudent thing to do. imagine running a million different variations of a possible cure for an illness on some super computer, think what that could mean for the discovery of new medicines. yeah i'm not a scientist but imagination is the first step to innovation.

  • Its almost impossible to make a computer do that. I really don't see anything that advanced happening in the next 100 year if at all. All that accurate computer simulations are is dreams and will be for many many many years to come.

  • hah at the rate in which computers are developing i can see that shit possible in 10 or 20 years

  • wel im doing computer forensics in uni and i don't any time soon. What they mean by accurate computer simulations is that something close to life is created on a machine. I know that if you want to program anything including something that complicated needs to be worked out on paper first.

If you had any common sense you can clearly tell that we aint even close to making life on paper yet or understand it in the first place yet alone put it on paper then in a machine.

  • @mrdojob

we have already started making primitive models of various areas of the human body. just look at the endeavors of Entelos, a computer bio-modeling company. Before you start calling people idiots, do some research you tool.

  • like i said you would have to create something close to primative life on paper when we don't even really know what life is yet yet alone know what 99.9% of DNA does which is the building blocks of life.

Also don't call me a tool cos i prob know far more about computers than you and you're talking about computers right now.

There is a big difference between thinking you know whats possible on a computer and knowing what is practical and what computers can really do at this current time.

  • @mrdojob

you may be qualified to talk about computers, but you're not qualified to make claims on what biological information is needed in such programs in order to run such tests. i nearly have a degree in biology and i can tell you we know A LOT about the human body, its not such a mystery anymore. we may still be learning, but the rate at which we are learning is increasing, just like the computer industry. that is why i can say i can see such programs possible in 10 or 20 years, or 30.

  • Im not to sure about that to but i wasn't in uni that long doing biology anyway XD but i know enough to about biology and computers to know thats its bat shit hard on a titanic proportion. Its almost a total waste of time to even try at the moment.

You and me know full well that we are still far from making something as simple (complcated) like a cell on a machine.

  • And once they begin to learn the practical behind there incredibly complicated theories they will finaly realise why animal testing is still being used.

I mean 99.9% of DNA is unknown and why DNA makes protiens and so on and what those protiens really do is still a bit of a mystery. Its something that is far from being replicated any time soon.

DNA is what turns something from a load of molicules to a living thing and animal rights groups seem to think that its fully understood and its not.

  • I think they should test it on you, diablo196. Then you won't be quite so quick to open your mouth.

  • i dont really mind about testing drugs for life threatening diseases on animals, but when it comes to cosmetic testing then its just stupid, and who ever does are selfish idiots.

Body shop dont test on animals, buy from them!

  • Body shop was bought by loreal who are for animal testing so body shops products are now tested on animals

  • good im glad they are tested on animals because when i use shampoo i like the feeling of knowing that it wont kill me.

  • yes, rabbits had it in their eyes, Even better aye..

  • There are plenty of cosmetic and medical products out there that are not tested on animals. They're all safe and wont kill you. Animal testing is a money making industry. Its not as altruistic as most people think it is.

  • products that have already been tested on animals to ensure safety. once they know they are safe after animal testing you dont need to do the tests. if you people want to continue your ignorance than do it but dont try stopping researchers who are developing life saving cures through animal research. why dont you get your own island and live with animals.

  • I think it is you who needs to open your eyes. The pharmaceutical industry is a massive money making machine. As for those products. you speak about. Every time they add some new chemical to make them more commercially competitive they test.

Who do you think pays those researchers? do you think their bosses are interested in cures or profits?

Go do some research before you come irritate us with your naive arguments.

  • @blackmetta What about government funded research ?

  • @kingdomofdalriada why would that make any difference?

  • @blackmetta Government does not conduct research for profit stupid.

  • @kingdomofdalriada HLS is a private company.. please do some reading before posting your ignorant views

  • @blackmetta what is there to read...seeing is believing..isn't that enuf...how uch mre cruelty do you want to see

  • @kingdomofdalriada .... no... but the company gets a grant from the Gov. to do so!!!!!!!

  • @blackmetta ..they get a grant from the Gov. to do so and the animals are turned over from breeders...maybe other places too

  • As for the island... why the hell should we go anywhere. This is our planet too and if you dont like us.. then stay away from our videos and forums.. no one is forcing you to be here.. and you're most certainly not welcome.

  • im gonna do what ever it takes to make a law against legal animal torture!

  • Good! I wish there were more people out there with your kind of passion! "What ever it takes" scares me a bit as wording but I know what you mean. We're on the same side ;-)

  • ask your mp to sign the EDM 569, in support of the Safety of Medicines (Evaluation) Bill 2009, which could bring a panal together to investigate that vivisection is not working,

  • its time to stop using animals for our own need for one thing this procedure is 20 years out of date, infact its a life time out of date as it should never of started in the first place and shame on any company thats still funding it, its greed

  • bravo, nicely done

  • GET OUT THERE AND FIGHT !!

  • do whatever it takes .. WHATEVER IT TAKES!!

  • Absolutely great protest, i was unlucky enough not to go. My Boyfriend and a friend of mine are in this vid! ^^

  • This is one tremendous and powerful march for animal rights and of course the campaign to shut the disgusting hell hole that is HLS down. Thank you SHAC for all you are doing to close HLS down - from your friends at Animal Rights Action Network (ARAN). It appears this campaign is only just warming up with the immense power and determination this demo has shown, kudos to all.

  • Puppies, for a start. :P

  • yep a very good video!

  • excellent :)

  • Nice one dean, good video. =]

  • Yeahhh Mickey the bunny was in there :o)

    Go Dean!
