  • So that's how B-benders work!

  • You look about my age (40 years old). I want to make some BOSS GT-10 (guitar effects processor) patches for country guitarists to use. I haven't listened to country music in years... So I thought I would ask some country guitarists what country songs have the best electric guitar sound, where the electric guitar plays throughout most of the song and is the main instrument, the song must be popular, an old song is fine as long as it is still requested today, upbeat/fast, easily hear the guitar.

  • Can you play standing up with one? It seems like the guitars weight would pull it out of tune

  • beautiful the telecaster b bender, I remember jimmy page, but this guitar is a dream for play the country rock......simil pedal steel guitar. That's incredible

  • I recntly had a chance to paint a Bill Boris body that is the same thing Forest Le plays and the best thing about these tele's is what you can do and the music that you can create like Albert Lee and Forest le Sr . I love being a luither and love building out of the box guitars/ also love your telethon cd thanks.

  • i'm not country fan, in fact, i'm a huge thrash and classic metal fan, but this looks like so much fun, i'd almost be willing to trade my explorer for one.

    almost lol

  • Amazing Playing!

  • i only clicked on this coz i thought it was dave grohl....lol

  • 1 beautiful tele i must say

  • Forest's vids are good too.

  • Jimmy Page had a B-bender put in his red Les Paul but even he admited that it killed the tone of the guitar. I would ONLY ever use it in a Tele.

  • @zigzagbigbag it was developed for the telecaster by gene parsons for clarence

  • @64chrisnickey I hear ya. Just saying its a very specific tool for a very specific type of guitar. I think its cool as hell thought.

  • Those licks and applications can be played with your fingers, without any bending system or some other "cool stuff". Well, that's for those, who's too lazy to bend the strings himself.

  • @DoctorKekz You'll have a hard time making it sound as clean, bending and sliding at the same time.

  • @DoctorKekz Some of that stuff, especially that involving more strings, would be very difficult without the bender. Try keeping the other notes in tune while bending the B a whole step... anything that makes playing easier opens up the possibility for new things you couldn't have done before.

  • @minusjason The thing I really don't like about this B-bender is that another huge piece of wood gets cut out to install the thing. And the bender is not really helpful while playing Rock) I vote for multi-purpose instruments)

  • @DoctorKekz Well no, cutting out lots of wood isn't good... but I do think the bender could be very useful for rock. I am mostly a rock and metal player, and I was hearing a lot of possibilities for myself in his playing. Moreso in the chordal stuff than the licks, but then, I'm not a great lead guitar player.

  • @minusjason I'm not so great either. But bending strings while playing chords is rather easy and it doesn't need any super skills, only a few days of training to make your bends sound clean, that's all. I think, that training and exercising your fingers would give you more profit than cutting that priceless wood out of those beautiful telecasters! My heart is breaking when I see it! And leaks... Train your fingers!)

  • @DoctorKekz; there are some licks that cannot be played without the B Bender. Clarence white made that point rather well. I am getting Gene Parsons to install one in my next G and L ASAT tele. this year 2011.

  • Cool. I like the licks and applications. Great nuggets of knowledge here! ;) thx

  • Jimmy Page has one on his Tele, used it on the last Zep album, Honey Drippers and in the Firm. As seen.... its pretty cool. My only problem is the mods one has to do to install B bender. Its a complete overhaul. Although it looks worth it.

  • i like how he moves his shoulder instead of the guitar, lolz

  • I watched this and still couldn't figure out how the B Bender worked.

  • @ZappaBlues Watch the straplock. When it moves, by moving the neck of the guitar up and down and applying tension to the straplock, it bends the B string.

  • how do i make my Maple neck shine like that!?:o

  • Jesus run on your top pickup please it's too twangy. But I guess it sounds cool live.

  • I really am not a big country music fan. However, I am so intrigued by the style from an instrumental perspective. I live the sound of the chicken pickin' stuff and the pedal steel. There are some VERY talented musicians in the country scene (both old and new).

  • WHAT ARE SOME POPULAR B-BENDER COUNTRY SONG'S?

  • @mrlandroverdiscovery brent mason is a big "b" bender a lot of his stuff has it in there, listen to the alan jackson stuff he does u should hear a lot there

  • what song's playing in the background at the start?

  • Wow, this is totally a cheater guitar.

  • @djgca1 Cheater? Good luck playing one, dude. This thing requires real thought to hit the notes right.

  • B Bender - Be a bender more like

  • Turn the music down while you are talking....very distracting AND I can't hear you very well, of course.

  • LOL at evil look while playing Dm at 1:12

  • @nolan83 wot a strange cunt

  • Hey where did you buy the parts from

  • wow, the into is so annoying even he had to skip through it

  • Forrest, I know this vid is a few yrs old now, but thanks for posting. After meeting you and the band in Daytona (actually Ormond Bch) a year or so ago @ Bike Week, you really inspired me to start teaching again; sharing my knowledge of 40+ yrs playin gtr with others both young & old. I just turned a 67 yr old friend onto the Hipshot, and this vid is the perfect B Bender 101!!

Walt Kulwicki fr the band THOSE GUYS (St. Augustine FL)

  • 1:13

  • I always wondered why those country guitar players moved that way when they played. LOL, I thought they were just trying to look cool.

  • @skrimpshidy b-benders are pretty rare dude. they are just tryin to look cool

  • how does he do that twanging w/out a tremolo system?

  • Der! It's a b-bender, watch the guitar strap...LoL

  • @therecordfable Der!? Hey! Everybody is not a instrumentalist nor a historian, you don't know me Mr. Iknoweverythingabouteverything!

  • @MrJTMagnum23 Lighten up pee pee pants, I was having a bit of fun...YIKES.

  • Man, that is one gorgeous looking Tele! You did a damn fine job on that baby! Love your chops too!

    Right-on buddy! :)

  • 1:12 face is awesome!! BEND!!

  • To ChrisSchoenbergTP...The cuts are because he sells instructional DVD's. Buy one and I bet the cuts won't be there. ZakkHendrix666...The song at 3:25 is called Lazy Fingers from Forrest's Telethon CD. sgtBicho...Forrest can build you a guitar or put a B-bender in your existing guitar. Contact him at outwestrecords.

  • I wanna a Classic Tele with B Bender. Where can I get the guitar??? Im despair... has long time...

  • ebay would be a good place to start if you haven't already:-)

  • whats the song at 3:25?

  • @ZakkHendrix666 He told you it was one of his songs

  • jimmy page rocks the b bender!

  • whats with all the cuts?

  • dude thats soo badass!!!!

    ~Bungee

  • That gets annoying after a while.

  • Hey Forrest, I posted a response with one of my guitars you put a bender it... you picken fool you.

  • so badass...me want!!

  • wow that yellow's really hypnptic

  • This is a great video but Gene Parsons and Clarence White deserve 90% of the credit. You might have thought of this by yourself anyway, and you might not have.

  • Good stuff.

What is up with the strap button on TOP of the body?

And what dirt pedal did you flick on there? It sounded great.

  • Maybe a normal one to use?

  • Most b-benders will have a second strap button in case you don't want to use the bender.

  • that strap button is in case you want the guitar to stay in the position of a classical guitar i guess

  • its a tuner

  • Demostra uma musica do Brad Paisley !

    Ele tem muitas musicas boas....

  • listen to a live version of ten years after by led zeppelin. jimmy page masters the b bender perfectly

  • "ten years gone"

  • yea thats it. thanks

  • not really...he stays on the b string to much. like thats all he uses for part of it. Clarence White does it the best. Hell, he taught Jimmy how it works and how to get one

  • whats the name of the background song ???

  • The background music is way too loud

  • D- minor = EYES GET REAL BIG!!

  • Just don't watch the video then.

  • Hey. I didn't think little kids would watch this video. Take your potty mouth somewhere else. Jerk.

  • im 18, and i consider myself still a youngster

  • Great skills!

  • Comment removed

  • no they are sprung. Its actually easier standing up

  • Dave Grohl really let himself go.

  • @Utradar Lol

  • lol omg your face at 3:53 to 3:55 is hilarious.. what are you looking at

  • lol im sorry that just made me laugh lol. Iv been guilty of sayin some shit like that for other situations haha.

  • That looks so goddamn fun! I want one of those!!!!

  • The Telecaster dominates !

  • Kinda hard to hear him over them usic at the beginning.

  • i must have a b-bender!!

  • bravo and thanks!vhat is that distorsion?sounds great!

  • I need an amp for my Fender Tele - for country playing - suggestions of which one?

  • Fender deluxe reverb.

  • hell yea a really nice amp!

  • i want one!!!

  • It's on his top strap button. It's like a little lever attached to his strap. Watch... When you pull up on the strap it bends the neck and the B string. Totally wild. I want one!

  • okay this may be a stupid question but wouldn't you accidentally activate it alot when you dont want to?

  • How is he activating the B-Bender? is it a foot pedal?

  • b benders are strap activated. glaser style where theres a lever on the neck bolt on spot or parsons style where its inside the body and still strap activated.

  • Ohhh...now that you say that, it seems sort of weird I didn't notice that before. Thanks!

  • You're the loser. Asking questions and questioning how things work is the enlightened path. To Bigjaymessenger: no the weight doesn't affect the tuning. I've got one and it's perfecly balanced.

  • does the w8 of the guitar put the tuning out at all.

  • Good question, dude.

  • i have GOT to get me one of those.

  • Is'nt it still possible to do this without a

    B Bender like Jerry Donahue?

  • Never did understand the B-Bender. At least I've seen it demoed now and nicely done...but I don't think I'll have much use for it at the mo LOL! :D

  • you are my idle

  • Forrest thanks for the great tip's I have a Joe Glasier B-Bender on my tele but I didn't know all your lick thank's again

  • James Hetfield used this guitar for Unforgiven II. If I'm wrong, I'm never posting a comment again.

  • You are right he used one. I never saw him with a Telecaster just with his ESP guitars

  • Man I want one now!
