@pharcydebug I believe they dampen the sound of the drums. Obviously when you're filming a music video, you tend to mime along to a pre-recorded version of the song. Therefore, the guitar amps aren't switched on and those black things on the drums make the drums quieter so the band can hear the backing track easier.
