lol hes 21 and getting paid 15k to fly a beech 1900 moron. these guys called me to work for them and i literally laughed in their face and hung up the phone after they told me i had to pay for my hotel during training and i would was gonna be 15k a year.

@jonny2387 Lakes has never charged their new employees for a hotel... MAYBE you didn't get a phone call and just needed a reason to bitch. They called because you applied - you must have had some interest... I stayed local and found a 135 company flying Saab 340,making more than 20k and ill most likely make captain in less than a year.And yes i did apply not knowing what they paid and yes they told me i had to pay for the hotel whether they pay for it or not its not a smart way to get employees. there are way better options out there and dont take offence but there is no way anyone can afford to live out there and make what they pay you unless mom or dad are helping you out.

Companies like great lakes take advantage of the fact that there are few jobs out there and know young guys will be willing to fly for next to nothing. As a CFI, CFII, MEI I made 15k in 5 months. Build 1000-1500hrs as a cfi and then move on to a reputable regional airline that pays more than 15k a year.
@Int3rvent1on your right he looks very happy but he could do so much better than great lakes, who is taking advantage of him by paying him 15K a year. To get to where hes at he spent at least 35K in training.
