Perhaps a clarification is due -it is just that she is so sure of what it is that she wants to get across -that she will deliver it right to you.With her band, or solo ,as on this song.She commands the stage to convey this bleak portrait of a figure at the end of their rope ( all too familiar on the evening news aye ?.)PJ 's particular gift as a storyteller is getting all the more rare.

F'ing magic. Raw rock and roll. Yes, I love the studio version and the live version on Later of this great song. But this is another level of performance that takes guts and self-belief. Go Polly Go, indeed!

Ummm...I'm a little out of step here. I would be real disappointed if I paid money for that performance. Her album Stories from the City, Storie from the Sea is a classic. Maybe she has a hard time recreating her sound outside the studio?

Thanks for the chance to revisit this, I have now seen plenty of PJ Harvey's videos live and otherwise and she clearly has no problem recreating her music live. She is a fantastic live performer. Although I have not had the pleasure of seeing her live. Still, I find this video to be disappointing.
