  • he sucks hard

  • you can win a conpetition with standards in a row??

  • this is a fuckin joke

  • is this the best they can do it must have been poorley subscribed that year

  • I try not to be a hater, but I don't know what the judges where thinking. Non of his bends are in tune nor his speed runs. I know there had to of been better contestants.

  • But from what I see anymore, that seems to be the dividing line with musicians, especially guitarists. There are those who play what they know, and then they're are those who play what they feel.

  • He's better than I am, in technique. The acoustic portion was for the most part pretty nice, but from what I've seen from all these King of the Blues videos, they're all about showing off and shredding. I'm not as efficient in technique, but as a heavy blues player, I FEEL what I play. It might be simple, but it's got my feeling behind it; it's not about melting someone's face off and looking like I'm trying to take a giant shit on my instrument.

  • 3.53: Not only does it sound shitty - dude is actually taking a dump a la forestier - on his own guitar. I had to avert my gaze. Too much like the time my old labrador who, late in life, sitting flat on her considerable butt, lifted her hind legs from the floor, pulled up in a crunched position and pulling forward using only her front legs - sporting a strangely surprised look of accidental genious, on her face - drew the route from the sunny spot on my rug to the water bowl in the kitchen.

  • ah ah ah ah ...ah ah ah

The bottleneck.....ah ah ah !! The acoustic "show" ah ah ah ah !

King of Blues... ah ah ah great stuff.

  • man, fuck

    don't like his sound

    don't like his showing off

this guy shouldn't be king of the blues, man fuck off, he should be called king of most irritating guitarists..

  • @wernerkonings TOTALLY agree!

  • That was horrible

  • Was tha Blues?

  • this guy needs a strat,bad

  • fukken yanks

  • I've seen him and his band around NJ multiple times, and say it was the 60s or 70s, they would be a supergroup...but this? cmon Matt!

  • Looks like he's going to take a dump on his guitar! LOL!

  • take it eassy dude dont brake that leg u stand on cus u might hit more bad notes!!!!!!

  • This is a disgrace to the blues..what a freaking joke...And this guy won ! I would hate to see and hear the other contestants if this was the best they had to choose from...My God !!

  • @bluesboy747 i cant belive that this guy is a winner!!!! wow.. is all i can say... wonder who the judges are!!??!?!?!? freaks w/o a musical ear @ all...

  • Dudes, he was there doing his thing, and we are leaving comments on youtube. There are those who watch and there are those who do. Rock on!

  • @LesterPaul01 Your right my friend, but this guy is far from doing anything that has to do with the blues...You must be a friend or relative of this clown

  • @bluesboy747 Well I tend to agree somewhat. I believe we are all artists and how we choose to paint the canvas can and is most always controvercial. His tone was way to overdriven, raspy, and compressed. Over playing can be and issue too. Hitting people with a ton of notes can bore them real fast. I found that a couple slow soulful bends can get their attention and keep it. Playing tastfuly and not over the top makes the crowd wonder what you are going to do next. I love the blues too. Rock on

  • He suck, terrible..

  • Obligé d'arreter la video a 4:15 tellement c'est mauvais....quel nul se gars....que des fausses notes....lamentable!!!

  • he shits on the guitar?

  • I no likem this all that much neither...................Not that there is definetly not talent there, but a little much to be able to feel any blues out of it............

  • ugh

  • This sucks.

  • This guy sucks

  • Go Fender!... What a cloen. Keep shoplifting. Thats my advice.

  • @stevierayDOM18 What's a cloen?

  • @imola23 I think I meant to say clown.

  • 3:14 and on has this guy playing totally out of tune. This guy won? Wow...

  • Gino had this in the bag. I feel nothing special coming from this guy. Although I respect his ability to get up on stage and play. He is nothing special to me. Gino is.

  • If this is the winner, I wonder about the other competitors. They were definitely short of talents in 2006.

  • THIS DUDE IS SO FUCKIN LAAAAAAAAAME!!!

  • :-/

  • you know how many contest there where?

    amount of dislikes + 1

  • "my parents came home with Hendrix Experience album" hahaha..were you 13 yrs old back in 68 or did they just bought the album within the last 8 yrs?

  • this is bad...

  • reminds me of Blues Hammer

  • i don't think he has enough distortion

  • Wow tuff for this guy to stay in key??

  • I'm not going to trash this guy,,,,, but he must have paid off the judges. He choked on lots of his riffs to the point of the solo being a screwup. Laith Alssadi smoked this guy with his style, phrasing, sound and creating that chill factor that hot blues can give you! Goose bumps dont lie. The judges were high...LOL

  • The acoustic part of it too!!! That really sucked. Gino and Laith crushed you.

  • There is so much injustice concerning King of the Blues. Gino Matteo and Laith Alssadi clearly had it over you. It was a crime to see you win. Did you pay off the judges? Did you have a connection?

Who are these judges? Where do they come from? Do they know what blues is?

Back to you Matt Oree - You are a take off on SRV. Not a very good one at that.

No originality, a ton of mistakes..very sloppy! Leg over the guitar, hopping around.

What's that all about? I don't get it. bogus!!

  • i was expecting to see some amazing player, this guy has no BLUES FACTOR at all ive seen better players in my local pub!!! average at best sorry

  • woah, you would think watching last years winners would discourage you, but it just got my hopes up. i could own this guy head to head any day.

  • i thought he was going to do a Megadeth solo. thought he was going to pop out a steamer on his LP. oh nice transition to slide..not. someone find this guy a woodshed before he cuts off his own head. it was inspiring but not from his inspiration.

  • Lots of dressing, no burger.

  • this guy really is a bad example of a blues player.

    Under the leg PLEASE>>>>>>>>>>>>

    WANKER

  • he kinda looks like srv

  • @cengeb all soul? I think not

  • please someone tell his he's playin' a Les Paul, not a Strat

  • Is this the circus??? this about playing blues not doing acrobatic stuff with the guitar...

  • @uva2323 so many people do the same blues stuff, what ever it takes to stand out

  • All SOUL, all skill, all the time! Extraordinary musician. His band is incredible! The full greatness can't be garnered from a video. See Matt LIVE, he is SMOKIN'. Incredible bunch of musicians, led by a superb incredible talent!

  • this is seriously the dumbest shit ever...this guy won?...he is awful and has NO soul

  • bad!! (N)

  • Why is he shoving his guitar up his butt at 3:35?

  • This is sad!

  • Gino Grimace was a load, guppy face faked expressions, Matt is SMOKIN! Incredible and his entire band is incredible. there ain't nutin they can't do, and do it perfectly every time. It's in em, talent and ability, dedication to the craft!

  • @cengeb ...hey douche bag...Matt is really good at jumping around tho...he has no soul in his playing, that is not the blues..AND..he is sloppy as shit

  • @VideoFuzzBox Yeah, and you probably think Chuck Berry didn't do blues. Somehow your knowledge of facts is poor. Matt smoked em! Leith, needs some style some ability to entertain and generate some energy1

  • @cengeb is this guy your brother or something?...he is average at best and that is all..nothing to see here

  • yeah what the fuck is everyone hating on him for? you think most of these guys are real blues players? of course not, theyre all just like every other guitarist who thinks theyre going to make it and do it the sell out way by entering a contest, im going to enter it becuase im the same way, but i just wana be able to jam on this stage becuase im not old enough to go to any bar jams. but anyways youre all just jelouse idiots

  • how many guitar players does it take to play a blues? Answer: 100....... 1 to play, and 99 to sit around and say they could do it better!

  • He is technically good but WAY too smug, and kill it with the fucking tricks unless its a spur of the moment kinda thing once and a while!

Gotta admin though, he has skills, shame it goes to his head!

  • FUCK YOU ALL HES AMAZING!!

  • wanker!!!

  • I don't know, the guy seems pretty humble. The whole playing through the legs thing is weird and unnecessary but then again I think blues music is boring repetitive music.

  • These winners have no feel, I guess in the industry it's all about technique and that is not at all true Blues!!!

  • Matt is INCREDIBLE! There is nothing him and his group can't do, and do to perfection!!! He is the WINNER, always.

  • Gino Matteo should have won this by far...guess he should have played between his legs or hopped on one foot...gimmicky BS should have nothing to do with this contest..GC always seems to find a way to give it to the wrong guy...this guy is an embarassment to the blues AND was sloppy AND played with NO feeling...how the hell can you be this sloppy with THAT much distortion and win this

  • Comment removed

  • @VideoFuzzBox Gino grimace is faked, forced, and poorly tailored phoney looking load. the correct guy won it. MOB. Smokin.

  • Sad but true. I thought Laith Al'Saadi blew this guy away. And he is getting better. Sad because the best man did not win..................

  • @wieviele Al-Sadididid, is even worse than Gino, are you high?!!! Matt is smokin'! Incredible talent and soul. Wake up[.

  • this is aweful. how did this guy win?

  • kind of a smug dickhead a little bit. like look at me im so badass i stole a stevie ray vaughan tape, im so hardcore blues. psych.

  • did they pick him cos he would win a joe bonamassa lookalike contest? phenotpically of course. talent-wise he should not have won.

  • Hey guys, could anybody recommend a good humbucker neck pickup with a smooth bluesy rock and roll sound?

  • @ZakkHendrix666..... can only recommend one for you man. look into the Sheptone pickups.. . i have the sheptone Brian Kahanek Signature set PAF pickups. FANTASTIC. just go to google and type in sheptone pickups, for whatever reason it wont post the comment with a link in it

  • this guy is annoying as hell.

    and a bad stevie imitator.

  • i think that jimi hendrix leg trick was awesome!

  • haha this guy is one of the greatest guitar players i have ever seen... i could trash this guy at blues and i dont even play blues

  • What an awful performance. If I saw a guy wanking it like this in person I would walk out...so here i go...bye bye

  • Holy crap, the dude is a terrible rip off of SRV, not only that but he took a shit on his guitar at 4:10. OMG That was amazing indeed. How did this guy win?

  • damn. he looks like an idiot

  • that lead up at about the 3 miniute mark was kinda eh, but i really dug the intro

  • This fuckin guy would be best motherfucker to portray SRV on a movie BIO. All you motherfuckers with the money fuckin get started already. Your welcome!!

  • 3:10-3:14 Wtf. So not blues. If I were a judge, I would have docked him at least 10 points for that. This is a blues contest. Seriously. What..?

  • this guy is nothing like stevie ray.

  • psh wow no man Gino should of won this

  • @Diaz123ism

    Fuckin A right man!!!

  • HE sounds too much like Stevie Ray... unoriginal.

  • He probably practiced that guitar-under-the-leg thing more than actually playing lol

  • Laith should have won this competition....

  • i agree with rocket i could solo better than that and i am 15.

  • @LongLiveTheBlues seriously dude i'm 17 but there's TONS of people who could play A LOT better. more kids should try out

  • This is not even good.

  • king of blues? are you serious? HIM?

  • too much of a "look what i can do" for me....

no emotion...he picks all his notes with the same...attack..

    lol.....

  • ive listened to all the videos on here from this contest and only came across two that didnt immediatley make me cringe.if this is the finals id hate to hear all the other guys

  • PLASMA GRENADE TO THE FACE

  • wow, all these winners r pretty bad, i think ill try out sumtime, haha

  • @YAZZ69er I felt the same way haha

  • @YAZZ69er i'm actually going to. gonna blues the shit out of some douchebags!(see above example) =)

  • Oh and slow blues is the most cliche thing about the blues.....thats when the mosts licks are puked up.

  • He's not a bad guitar player. Maybe a little sloppy but from what i've seen in all these competitions is lack or originality. Sure they can regurgitate licks like any other blues player(one thing that discredits the genre), but all of them do it and it's lame. The key to being a good guitarist is a mix of speed, finess, technic, and melodic placement. And sorry but the other guys were worse than matt. He was the only one pushed the bounderies alittle everyone else.

  • I didn't see anything great . Not a Rory Gallaher in the bunch

  • I hate how as soon as you learn the pentatonic scale, and you start playing it, you can call yourself a blues guitarist nowadays. Half of this act was scratchy and splotchy notes, he sounded really friggen amateur for a contest winner. He could play circles around me, but I can say I know skill when I hear it, and that was some damn bad playing. I know blues is all about evolution and your own style, but this isn't blues. Pentatonic soloing isn't blues, no matter how much you use it.

  • damn right man, the best blues players can play the blues with soul, emotion... buddy guy can kill with one note. that guy played hundeds and didnt move me at all.

  • The problem I see with this competition is that it's all pretty jumpy blues. I haven't seen any slower tempo pieces. That's part of the blues too. I want to see something like Since I've been Lovin You or Blues Deluxe, something with some raw emotion and power and not just fancy tricks and fanfare. They don't really judge these guys on heart or soul.

  • y in gods green earth did this guy win?honestly this whole competition is filled with a bunch of lunatics beating the crap out of guitars with no real originality at all.a bunch of srv clones.with the possible exception of gino matteo and laith alsaadi

  • Hey man, tasty playing! My name is Stëv Skye and I'll be performing in the 2nd round of KOTB at the Phoenix, AZ store (9/10/09 :) I actually posted my preliminary round performance here (my first youtube post)... I also fell in love with the rock/blues when I first heard "Are You Experienced" and I branched out from there...

  • yeah gino matteo definately should have won

  • Great video Checkout vickrules1

  • so this guy talks about putting all enotion into his playing and stuff but watching him play, I see very little eomtion, this guys all show man

  • gotta be fuckin kidding me..

did they forget the whole point, "KING of the BLUES"

  • this blows

  • why did he win and am i bored ?

  • wow.. what garbage

  • Why have the intro? Just say simply " I am just another SRV wannabe, down to the beard.?

    Boring as hell.

  • im pretty sure a srv wannabe would play a strat..

  • He did definatly. This guys stuff aint that good i tabbed his acoustic part already just by remembering it from the vid which is not good. i should have to watch him and listen multiple times before i can figure it out, at least thats what i would want when i play. Id put my soul into it and give it all i got and make it a hell of a preformance.

  • since when was blues about the difficulty of a performance? get of your ass and go listen to some B.B, T Bone, Muddy Waters..

  • I never said BLUES was always about the difficulty of a preformance, but since its a competition for the best blues player, difficulty should be implied you dumbass. Dont talk to me like your gonna school me in blues you faggot.

  • thats exactly what he did. But he did that because he hasnt taken time to develope the skill using his right hand. he only worries about licks as you can tell in 3:10-3:15.

  • thats exactly what he was doing. he can barely do anything else other than one string solos, thus he compensates for the half-beat upstroke slopply rythm. laith alsaadi dominated when he played acoustic. If Laith wanted too, he could play something exactly like this guy did but he didnt he did slow 4/4 progression for more feeling rather than the same old fast blues licks, then on the acoustic he showed his true roots and played with his fingers..

  • this guys right hand is underdeveolped. thats why he is playing like stevie so much. thats all he can do with his right hand. I guess the judges failed to look at the most important part of playing blues, your right hand. my votes for lath 100 percent.

  • So pretty much you have to be flashy to win this thing....well this year i going to wear a speedo while riding a unicycle and play in the style of srv!! hopefully that will do the trick =)

  • 5:15-5:20

    Around the world(RCHP) Intro -_-

Or Breadfan intro too I guess lol.

  • it's just a SRV copy....

    nothing creative man...!

    i know he can play..

but not play like this on a champion

  • Whoa If he won buy playing like that, then perhaps i am entering this year.

  • what a mess. lath won by far 1000%

  • it should have been clinton moon who won......this guy has no skill what so ever thats some bullshit............

  • his tone is shit for blues on both electric and acoustic

  • Lame choice.... Laith BY FAR was the best.

  • Horrible - This guy sucks

At least the fat guy could play the acoustic

  • This is terrible. Lol.

  • Yeah you know he's much better than me at guitar, but it's pretty apparent that the judges were looking at stage performance rather than tone, skill, feel, etc... The leg lift turned me off. I've seen so many guitar heros live and I'll tell you that 99% of the players with the most stage presence don't do anything like that. Joe Bonamassa, Eric Clapton, B.B. King all own the stage without cheesy show off moves.... The only one that does it and it works is Buddy Guy.

  • It was really gay watching him play under his leg.. Plus the tone and licks were all wrong for the blues. He did some Malmsteen sounding licks, which is a def no no in blues. I dont know how he won.

  • the whole blues click is full of dick sucking losers

  • I heard this guy got the sympathy vote. from EVERYONE! nah, im kidding but seriously? This guy won? The moment I would have seen him do that leg lift thing on stage, I would've told him, "NO, HELL NO!!'

  • srv prodigy

  • really? this guy won? what the hell were the judges smokin?

  • 100% laith alsaadi should have been the king of the blues.

  • i tshould have been gino mateo. but laith is good too.

  • I just have a hard buying the sound on this one. Too sterile. Needs a strat, or any reasonable single coil sound. The walk around 3:45 is so AWKWARD. And I agree with oggi3, way overplayed.

  • i don't understand why a competition exists for music that all sounds exactly the same? how does playing extremely fast or the same pentatonic fifth 50 times in a row using the same trills, pulloffs, bends, and whatever make for creative progressive music? i'm sure it's important, but someone needs to remind me why. i feel like an idiot for feeling this way. somebody school me...

  • When the electric guitar was first used in a barbershop in 1926, I bet there was some kid walking down the street skipping class and When he heard the sound of ripping pentatonic fifths, that instant, that moment, he knew all he wanted to do was to play rock and roll music for the rest of his life. There isn't any other music in the industry, pop, motown, punk, you name it, which features soloing and soulfulness, and appreciates the improv and rythem orientation. The Jonas Brothers can blow me.

  • his guitar sound is extremely crap

  • That's no blues!

    Sooooo shred!

  • Sucks!! suckss!! pour men

  • almost all these guys with a gibson have horrible tone. and they all overplay. hubert sumlin should give all these guys a guitar lesson, he makes a les paul sound good.

  • @PageandPlant4Life

Gary Moore is another guy who has great control of a Gibson. Moore's secret is that he rolls the volume knob constantly to take the bite of the humbuckers out untill he really needs it in a solo, then lets it rip. It's cool to watch him play. I have never seen anyone else use that the way that Moore does.

  • @xdomhnallx

Roy buchanan mastered the use of the volume knob. Not only did he roll the volume or tone down for rhythm, his volume swells are legendary.

  • This guys good.. except for those mess ups.. but eh everybody messes up... but was it really necessary to hump and shit on your guitar at 3:50

  • hes good but it wasnt the best from that year

  • Why shredd?

  • the blues doesnt need shred that is why it is soo good, nice comment

  • laith should've won

  • Although I do think Gino had more heart...

  • Who do you think should have won? Nobody had a flawless performance in '06
