this is the winner of this years nammy award for best short form music video.congrats to Jan and to all who were in the were at the event.it is a great video.
I had never in my life, experienced the love and togetherness of a group of artists, that I experienced coming together for this video project. Getting to know each other, working on each others songs- encouraging each other, welcoming each other, and spreading that positive vibe. It was truly Native American magic! May it spread throughout Native America and the world. Thank you Jan- my friend and brother, for all your great flute work on my new CD' Great Spirit". Rock On! Jimmy Lee Young
@rockstar46able jimmy its justin. 2011 get that nammy bud! great spirit sounds like its yer best work yet, and all i've heard were the session mixes, still havent heard the final product.
Great song! My friends and I attend the NAMA's every year, we are not Native Americans however we enjoy your music, spiritual believes, and culture. It is wonderful time being surrounded by such brilliant people. We all could learn a great deal from all the Natives no matter what Tribe. Thank you.
what a waste of talk, the only reason I said "Cherokee" is because whites always claim Cherokee and truthfully us natives are sick of hearing it. YOU call the Nammys, I already have and that's why I know the facts.
@dewayne368 you are definitely lying.. I am sorry you feel the need to be deceitful about calling NAMA when these folks have been winning nammy awards for several years in a row. and there is NO dispute in their claims of being Native American which is verified by the producers of the Native American Music Awards
AWESOME! Reminds me of "We are the World" I listen to Native Music all of the time. I went to the Native Music Rocks concert at the Hard Rock in Florida sponsered by the Seminole Tribe. Keith Secola is amazing! They all autographed my CD's I bought even though I am only 1/16th Choctaw and I am GRATEFUL! They even hugged us as we left. I will never forget it!
It would have been nice if more of the NAMA attendees/nominees were included in this collaboration. If the lighting was more even & less blue-toned, a crisp video could be offered as a for-purchase item. I would pay a buck (even now) for a download to watch on my iPod/computer. Others around the world would too. Asa special commemoration of Native Amer Heritage Day & indigenous artists of the world, it's also a potential fund-raiser. Just a thought, tho the releases could be a snag. (?) Peace
When you have mixed heritage you have the right to each part of yourself.it is you..the past is a sad reminder of what happened..or it is a happy memory ..i am all of what happened on the east coast..what was here and what came in the 1600'sl..love binds us..our mother binds us..i am sorry for what happened in this land..we can not change it..let us gather our thoughts for this living planet..she needs us ..she is dying
Nice song but where are the Native Americans?? Cherokee right?? ha ha ha you can fool some but not all. Shame on you for claiming something that doesn't belong to you, shame on you!!!!! what a joke ... your ancestors brutally murdered mine and now you claim our bloodline, wow!! you've all got some nerve. Live as one is a great concept but you cause more harm by promoting yourselves as Native Americans when you are not. Shame on you all!
@dewayne368 - You have a voice. I hope goodness and Love will exterminate the negative thoughts and feelings you have so you can truly see we all are One and trying to live and Love together, even if it is a "white guy" or an "Asian person" ...
We are just trying to be better people is all. Nobody is pretending to be anything they are not. I play the Native American Flute but do not pretend that I come from your ancestory. I'm just trying to spread Love to anyone interested in receiving.
@dewayne368@dewayne368 These people ARE Native American. Jan Michael Looking Wolf is the guy singing. and he is an enrolled member of the Grand Ronde Tribe in Oregon
and for your information this is THE Native American Music Awards where they only award enrolled NA musicians. not wannabes. they only have one category for non natives.
before you spew off you should learn how to google before making such a silly response.. blessings to you "dewayne"
@dickie2750 just for your information, a person does not have to be enrolled to win at the nammys, get educated ... it might enlighten you! I have reported several of these so called Natives to the tribes they are claiming and they are about to be exposed. You are the one you needs to learn and know the truth.
@dewayne368 If you refer back to your first comment about them being "cherokee" shows that you didn't even know what the NAMA awards were and you obviously didn't know or recognise any of the individuals in this video. If you did you would (as I stated initially) go and google these folks and Native American Music Awards. I advise you to contact NAMA and ask them to verify the nominees and you will be "enlightened" blessings "dewayne"
Woke up just now to record my dream. It begins with me playing the Native American flute on a porch on a hill. Some women hear me playing and come up to listen. Then, they tell lots of other people who are present about a film which I've just decided (the dreamer me) to show for a community gathering. Film is about non-violent way of Jesus by a Nobel winning film maker. Dream is named Films ofPeace
I woke up from dream and came to computer to write it down...saw email from NAMA and video!!LOVE
"As we celebrate the contributions and heritage of Native Americans during this month, we also recommit to supporting tribal self-determination, security, and prosperity for all Native Americans. While we cannot erase the scourges or broken promises of our past...
