@iBUNGATz Mine does it toher chest. Its called plucking. It usually happens when a bird is really sad or depressed. Mine did it when she lost her previous owner from cancer. We still treat her like a piece of candy but she still does it. Shes now to the point of plucking on a rare occasion...

I wanted to reassure the comment from (myroosterwilleatyou) is very serious and real. The metal shower rack is very dangerous, believe it or not. Even though he's only chipping off the plastic, like most bird will do (so cute), but everytime he chips away, his saliva makes contact with the metal through his tongue. Eventually it will get into his bloodstream and he'll contract cancer. Most metal products are not regulated for animal contact, also plastic. Stick to wood

It looks like your conure plucks itself? You shouldn't let it chew that metal, it could get metal poisoning and die. Plucking is one possible symptom of metal poisoning. It's great to see a bird that's happy and loved, and appreciative of good music, but I'm worried about its health.

hey there, I really appreciate the input and info..well the story is my lil buddy developed the plucking habit during a stay with my family:( It definitely hurts but I can tell you this bird gets loads of love and attention. she rarely hangs out on the shower rack but chews off the plastic and doesnt chew the metal...I've made sure of that...she has lots of chew toys plastic and wood in her cage and gets to fly around a lot...the plucking things sucks but I'm trying my best!
